Professor Posted 13 August, 2008 Posted 13 August, 2008 Walcott in the u-21 squad is not a surprise but Martin Cranie is selected as well. A credit to the Saints Academy, that no doubt will not be noted by any national newspaper. Walcott had to be sold as his ambitions were beyond SFC, but was it a mistake not to hold on to Cranie?
Saint_clark Posted 13 August, 2008 Posted 13 August, 2008 For the 1000th time - we offered Cranie a new deal. He turned it down. He went.
Papa Shango Posted 13 August, 2008 Posted 13 August, 2008 Cranie wasn't good enough to get more than one game in the whole of his last season at the club. We were well shot of the pikey skate ****.
KMondo Posted 14 August, 2008 Posted 14 August, 2008 Okay...so it had nothing to do with Mr Burley's dodgy taste in centre halves then???

For the 1001st time, there are two sides to the offer of a deal, and maybe Cranie should have been given a better offer, but Burley didn't seem to think centre backs mattered. He's certainly good enough now and would have been an asset last season.
