Reib80 Posted 1 August, 2014 Share Posted 1 August, 2014 Thought I would share an article from the US on Saints. Sorry if posted already. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-desolation-of-southampton/
saint_ed Posted 1 August, 2014 Share Posted 1 August, 2014 There's that global brand we were striving for.

Brave Sir Robin Posted 1 August, 2014 Share Posted 1 August, 2014 Good article. Agree with pretty much all of that. My only real gripe remains that replacements weren't brought in or possibly even lined up before we sold key players, so yeah, what happens next is crucial. If we get the signings right, we will have got away with it and hopefully the board will count themselves lucky and learn from it.
tpbury Posted 1 August, 2014 Share Posted 1 August, 2014 Good read. One comment in there suggests ML had a connection to Southampton. I've never really heard that before, other than the fact Liebherr cranes may have been present in the docks. Enlighten me.
Leslie Charteris Posted 1 August, 2014 Share Posted 1 August, 2014 "If Southampton regress, though, it’s worth remembering it’s not because they sold their best players, it’s because after they did, they didn’t know what to do next." Perhaps the most telling quote from all the guff in the press. However, we do seem to have the right man in the right place with Koeman. Another interesting season ahead... Cascadia Saint Posted 1 August, 2014 Share Posted 1 August, 2014 "It’s still extremely early in the next chapter of Southampton’s existence. Right now, with the transfer window still open and a bunch of cash burning a hole in their pockets, it’s impossible to say what comes next. If Southampton regress, though, it’s worth remembering it’s not because they sold their best players, it’s because after they did, they didn’t know what to do next." Thanks for posting that, a good article with a calm and even optimistic outlook. It really does all depend on what we do now...

VectisSaint Posted 1 August, 2014 Share Posted 1 August, 2014 The desolation of Southampton Great name for a band. Stars Bilbo Read as he accompanies Thorin Krueger and his fellow dwarves on a quest to retain Premier League status despite the Liver Birds and the Red Devils.
