Sour Mash Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Bloody hell, that's a disappointing anti-climax. Sent from my RM-875_eu_euro1_217 using Tapatalk
Griffo Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Loan signings very strange when we've got a lot of money to spend. Was apparently sh*te at Villa last year too.
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 why are we signings loads of loans potentially if we are not up for sale?(Bertrand,Taiser,Gnarby?)
JakkoUK Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 How very, very crap. Did the board really have to twist the knife.
lickierambert Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 This is the level we're working at now, isn't it?
Batman Posted 30 July, 2014 Author Posted 30 July, 2014 well, utterly underwhelming we would not have thought he would have made the bench a few months ago and only a loan signing guess Rojo is definitely not happening
Colinjb Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Not everyday you sign a champions league winner. What's Djimi Traore up to these days?
stevy777_x Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Good back up for Targett. Club clearly see that Targett is going to make it, so will gradually introduce him. I know that i prefer Bertrand to Fox.
Batman Posted 30 July, 2014 Author Posted 30 July, 2014 Good back up for Targett. Club clearly see that Targett is going to make it, so will gradually introduce him. I know that i prefer Bertrand to Fox. not at all, I reckon
St Chalet Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 CL finalist 2 years ago. Prepared to give him a chance. A one year loan with option to buy is an affair not a marriage.
ExSt Peter Saint Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 He has potential, but yet to show he's a top Premier league player. Hopefully Targett will prove to be a better player and he'll not get much time in the first team. On the minus side, I guess that means we won't be getting Rojo, which is most disappointing :-(
Badger Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Rojo too ambitous, and out of reach perhaps, then there were the Dutch options suggested (Jetro Willan was it ?) so we end up with a player who failed to impress at Villa last season. Still perhaps he's only back up for Targett.
Faz Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 It does kind of make sense. Don't want to block Targett, but need a bit more experience for 12 months.
St.Patrik Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Damned if you do - damned if you don't springs to mind : / a player in from Chelski and still people are complaining - jeez
SNSUN Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Not underwhelmed, not whelmed either. Loan with an option to buy? I do hope this isn't a trend of bringing loans in instead of transfers. All that money...
Avenue Saint Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 70m in the bank and the ******s get ryan bertrand on LOAN! it wasnt happening with cortese but it sure as hek is now!
thorpie the sinner Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Oh God, I was so hoping what I heard was wrong! Open minded though, maybe RK has seen something he can work with!!!
Saint Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Damned if you do - damned if you don't springs to mind : / a player in from Chelski and still people are complaining - jeez What does it matter who he plays for? He's clearly not good enough for Chelsea, so it's a but stupid to use that as a positive.
Dan Johnson Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Was on my wish list at the start of the window :-) Surprised people are ****ed at this? It's a solid signing, a player with Premier League and Champions League experience
Batman Posted 30 July, 2014 Author Posted 30 July, 2014 What does it matter who he plays for? He's clearly not good enough for Chelsea, so it's a but stupid to use that as a positive. pretty poor at villa last season too edit. Just had a browse of the heroes and villains site. seems he did alright there last season
doddisalegend Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 He has potential, but yet to show he's a top Premier league player. Hopefully Targett will prove to be a better player and he'll not get much time in the first team. On the minus side, I guess that means we won't be getting Rojo, which is most disappointing :-( Are we the sort of club that can attract top PL talent?
Nexstar Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 I'm quite pleased, think he'll do a solid job. At least we didn't spend £5-£8m on a foreign LB who turns out to be crap. This way we've still got money if necessary when January comes calling.
UpweySaint Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Sorry where does it say about option to sign? A couple of people have mentioned it but I can't see anything saying that on the OS ...
SNSUN Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 It does kind of make sense. Don't want to block Targett, but need a bit more experience for 12 months. Or Koeman thinks Targett isn't ready yet and Bertrand is the back up to the marquee left back we've yet to bring in! One can dream.
Dr Who? Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 I'm not a fan of loaned players, I do not know why, never have been.
saintalan Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Damned if you do - damned if you don't springs to mind : / a player in from Chelski and still people are complaining - jeez Yep they all know better than Ron.
ART Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 That is our 1 loan used up. I think it's a good signing and followed his career and hoped we'd signed him before he went to Villas. 2 months older than Morgan.
Batman Posted 30 July, 2014 Author Posted 30 July, 2014 Bigadam believes its a loan with a view to a permanent deal in 12 months
doddisalegend Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 On the O/S http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/30072014-statement-ryan-bertrand-joins-on-loan-1794098.aspx
Jack Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Meh. 1 step closer to naming an 18 with some top level experience I suppose. Watch Clyne to Liverpool get announced tomorrow now.
mulletsaint Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Hmmm. Not a bad 'signing', but after all the ****e I was hoping for something better to be brutally honest.
Dr Who? Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Bigadam believes its a loan with a view to a permanent deal in 12 months He will be ace in the championship!
Trout-Tickler Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 CL finalist 2 years ago. Prepared to give him a chance. A one year loan with option to buy is an affair not a marriage. Agree, though I have my doubts as to whether he'll be happy to play second fiddle to Targett. Surely going to be our 1st choice LB next season.
pangy Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Bit underwhelmed......however will give him a chance,Villa were dogsh1t last season so you cant really compare him from that, you would like to think with the right team he could be decent
St Chalet Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Fair play to Neil Jones at The Mirror, guess Ben Davies was preferred. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/mauricio-pochettino-haunt-southampton-again-3633022
doggface Posted 30 July, 2014 Posted 30 July, 2014 Underwhelmed. Potentially a number of loans, lets be hoping our perm deals are showing some ambition. Was hoping for Rojo, but pretty unlikely really. That said Rojo primary position is centreback so guess we will see. Adds to an area we were very very light but was hoping for an established LB with a promising player in Targett in reserve.
