Batman Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 we are down. there is now way you can replace 6 or 7 first teamers with a couple of weeks to go.....just no way the players we get in will largly wont be as good. some of them will flop completely, some will do very well that is the law of averages in transfers but we have already surrendered our premier league place IMO Anyone saying otherwise (let alone saying we will be better or set for a top half finish) are just deluded that is the cold hard facts of it all what we are doing is completely unprecedented for reason that it is pure insanity

However if we go with too many of the young academy players plus Hooieveld,Sharp,Mayuka etc on occasions we won't be far off at the end of the day. We seem to still be trying to sign players, whether they are of sufficient quality to ensure our survival remains to be seen. the PL is a hard league, there are no easy games and this is exactly what worries me with Koeman and some of the supposed recruits, they are used to steamrollering the opposition because they come from superior sides in their leagues. Saw Willem II against Marseille the other afty, now I know that Willem II are Dutch D2 but they were quite frankly atrocious, not even Sunday League quality, Bielsa doesn't have a great squad at Marseille and yet they just strolled past the Dutchmen. bpsaint Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 (edited) I got 9/1 on sky bet last week for us to go down, changed 9/2 last time I looked. Edited 29 July, 2014 by bpsaint
scotty Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 Skybet reduced odds from 28/1 to 22/1 today for SFC to finish bottom .....out of 20 teams. Hardly earth-shattering odds.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 At this moment, with the players left, finishing one spot above the bottom 3 would be seen as success for me. Whether that opinion changes before the start of the season entirely depends on who we bring in after this car crash of a summer window.

Saints Warrior Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 All bets still on. Gone from 10th yesterday to 8th. But Saints are 2/9 on to take the 7-a-side title.

We are relegation contenders. But on 1 Sep, things might be different.
SaintRobbie Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 I got 9/1 on sky bet last week for us to go down, changed 9/2 last time I looked. Bugga, I could only get 6-1!
Saints Warrior Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 It wont matter how many players Saints get in, its going to take weeks for the team (if there is one of any experience) to get going. Creating goal chances and scoring goals is a worry as I see it, but now we have keeping goals out added to the problem. If the goal keeper goes to that's even more a problem
yamms_schmitz Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 I put my bet on us to go down before Poch left. I got odds of around 20-1. It is now 4-1.

stockbridge_saint Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 It was 12-1 at the very end of the season, thought about putting money on it but decided it was too pessimistic

SaintBobby Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 I think we're a good bet to be relegated. If you can still get 20/1 on us finishing bottom, those are good odds
Lighthouse Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 we are down. I can only assume you have bet every penny you own on this absolute fact? If you can get odds of 6-1 on an absolute certainty, surely that's just a license to print money. Either that or you're just being a big girls blouse but we all know that's definitely not the case. BlakeySFC Posted 30 July, 2014 Share Posted 30 July, 2014 Said it before, will say it again, we still have a better squad than Burnley, Leicester and West Brom.
JxgrSaint Posted 30 July, 2014 Share Posted 30 July, 2014 And Villa (unless Benteke regains some semblance of form) they've signed Kieran Richardson, Joe Cole and Philippe Senderos whilst they will probably lose Vlaar to us - could be worse...
