Just listening to the phone-ins in the last hour or so.

It seems now Liverpool are set up to win the legate next year and rogers is a genius who is way before his time right now.

Here comes the love'in.

I also read on RAWK the other day, which made me cringe a bit. They wanted us to beat Chelsea so bad, as they feel they can still win the league this year. What are they on there? Why do they live in this different dimension to anyone else? Fair enough they've been on good form, but so have a lot of clubs and their managers haven't been declared gods.

I think Rogers needs to take a lot of blame for the start, he simply didn't know what to do with it all. He's somehow stumbled upon a formation though, not sure how that makes him a genius, as I'm pretty sure he didn't sign Emre Can (midfielder) to play as a CB or a RB, or Markovic to play as a left wing back.

He's stumbled upon a formula and it works for now. That doesn't make him a genius, it makes him a bit of a botcher from an initial bad summer.

Rodgers is a complete chancer, and when the fall comes it's going to be from a great, great height. Incredible to think that him and Pochettino don't have a single trophy between them over the course of their managerial careers, not one!

Can't help feeling the Poch has got very lucky that Kane has come of age this season without his goals spurs would be mid table. Poch didn't even seem to want to play Kane early in the season now he is the first name on the team sheet.

Poch has got the bests out of him, yes?

Remember when we tried to get Kane (according to the papers).. That was roundly ridiculed as he was no way good enough

He seems to have proved everyone wrong as the season has progressed. So let's not pretend Kane has been this 30 goal a season striker that we all knew about

There was an interview earlier with Adam Lallana on talksport. Afterwards it was agreed that rogers is doing very well for England as the players he gets at liverpool simply get better with him

WTF?!?!?

Love to see Lalas match stats from last season and this - reckon they might show a full scale reverse in every category! Rodgers can certainly take full credit for transforming Lambert's career - from a cheerful, free scoring regular, to a miserable, moribund bit player. If Jihadi John was appointed next manager of Liverpool there would still be large elements of the press who would provide support and positive spin.

Apparently, rogers develops players so much that they become highly skilled in many positions. As shown by liverpool this season.

The love-in they get from all sections of the media is horrendous

To be fair Lambert, Lallana and Lovren weren't great at playing on the bench last season. In fact they ended up starting most games, so Rogers has added that dimension to their game.

LOL

Life is too short to get exercised about managers of football teams, but I'd make an exception for Rodgers who comes across as a male chicken. Smugness is such an unattractive trait.

I don't really understand what he has to be smug about his total football achievements equal winning the play offs with Swansea. At least managers like LVG and Mourinho have got trophies to back up their cun tiness.....

League stats

through 29 games in 2014-2015

Lallana - 18 starts | 4 goals | 3 assists | rating 7.06

38 games in 2013-2014

Lallana - 37 starts | 9 goals | 5 assists | rating 7.24

In fact..

of the big 5 who left: Shaw, Lambert, Lovren, and Lallana will all have worse player ratings and less playing time this season than they did the year before at Southampton.

Chambers will come out about the same for this season as he did last.

So he turns them all into James Milners then, decent at everything but not standing out at anything.

They all made good choices for their career though. And they will all earn millions more than had they stayed at Saints. They will all succeed apart from Lovren I think - but even then he'll make an obscene amount of money so he won't be too bothered. The main thing is that we appear to have invested the money well (or rather, better than average) so everyone wins.

But it's amazing... they can make more money by playing worse and less than at their last job. It's a crazy system. I wish my profession was set up the same way.

Cheers Tex, top man. As expected, but nice to have hard evidence. Shame most sports journalism is not built on that obvious foundation!

How do you know it doesn't until you apply for a new job, get said job and perform to a lower standard? Try it out and let us know what happens. We could be onto something here.

I guess finishing below Liverpool will be the disappointment factor of what has been an exceptional season.

As Saints fans we're conditioned to accept some form of disappointment in a season and I suppose this is it.

A blot on an otherwise outstanding campaign but there's still time and games to do something about it.

I'd consider it a successful season .. as long as we finish above Spuds...Europe or not.

Chambers in the U21s, along with JWP and Matty Targett. Meanwhile, can someone remind me who has made the right back spot for the full team? :)

Kyle.

Walker.

I don't know how either. Hope Nat has a nice comfy cushion to sit on.

More cringeworthy utter bull****.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3004908/Brendan-Rodgers-placed-trust-unfamiliar-3-4-3-formation-watching-Basle-beat-Liverpool-side.html

Has he worked out yet why he ****ed their season up at the start? Doubt it.

So to cut a long story short, he stumbled upon a formation by accident by copying the approach of a team who beat him.

Genius I tell you. Genius.

hahahahahahaha too true, i've stopped reading newspapers totally and I try and find out news from independent sources i trust, only the stories linked from here i have a scope at as the papers individual agendas are so transparent let alone clickbait its lauaghable as a news source.

Lallana get a lot of stick from Liverpool fans off the back of Sunday. They seem to be irked by Rodgers' insistence on shoehorning him into the team resulting in Sterling playing right wing-back etc.

I thought Lallana was doing ok for Liverpool and they have far bigger problems than his presence in the team but Liverpool fans' confusion this season over a number of things has been very funny to see.

I used to love Gerrard, excellent player in his pomp. But now, he's just a liability. He probably should have left last summer, as it's no surprise that their results picked up in his absence in my opinion.

Lallana, well, he's not getting nice comments today. He's had a pretty underwhelming season all being told, but compared to our other 2 ex lads - he's been amazing. Lovren I couldn't give 2 hoots about, but one word comes to mind - karma. However, I can't help but feel a little sad seeing Rickie sat on the bench, week after week, just as a fan. He'll leave in the summer I'm sure and I hope he gets himself a good club, he has been horrifically treated by the idiot that is Rogers in my opinion.

Fashionable though it is to hate Rodgers on here, I can't really blame him for not playing Lambert. We've been pretty much trying to replace him since we got to the Premier League, first with JRod, then with Osvaldo. He suffered from some bad patches of form last year, much the same as Pelle. He's not the man to get Liverpool into the top 4.

A lot of people thought we got mugged off for £4m in summer. I thought it was good business then and I stick by that now.

Today's Daily Mirror gives Lallana and Gerrard the same mark out of 10 for yesterday's performances

Lallana 4 and Gerrard 0 according to this. Although it also says Martin Skeletor 'kept his head where others lost it' right above a picture of him stamping on DDG.

You're right in that the club had been trying to 'Evolve' the lambert position for a couple of seasons, but he was still a good player for us. Liverpool and Rogers just haven't used him right, as even in the few games he's had, it's been hoofed up to him like he's some sort of hit and hope target man, but his game is so much more than that.

I reckon he'll pop up at Palace next year, and play up top with Zaha and Bolaise either side - that could be epic for Palace fans.

I think lallana has actually gone missing in all of their big games. He was nothing at SMS, nothing yesterday....not good for a £25m signing

Did you see Jones clatter Lallana ? Surprised he wasn't taken off straight away actually, it was a red/orange card or at least a first yellow which would have led to a red later on, awful refereeing again. Looked totally Utd biased.

it was a bad challenge but once he got up and checked his hair was ok I assumed he was ok, clearly not
