Liverpool fans want to buy our entire team in January and give us back the players they bought in the summer. Will they ever learn? The draw for the likes of Lallana and Lovren to join them in the summer was the lure of the Champions League. That allure will, quite probably, not exist next season. They really are poor in the transfer market. Suarez and possibly Henderson are their only recent success stories.

It's the team and the internal set-up, not the individual player. They would need to buy the club. £300m should do it.

well well well. how things have changed lool- from today onwards- they really do want him dropped or even out!

At least some on there recognise it's more to do with their ****e midfield that does not provide the protection that VW & MS gave him (similar to this season). It was noticeable at times towards the mid to end of last season that he was left wanting at times - Spurs away springs to mind where they played the ball very wide so in effect by passing VW & MS down the wings and thereby exposing Lovren on more occasions than was the norm against us last season.

Its easier for them to just become Saints fans. :-)

If we stay in second no doubt we'll get a few of them jumping ship to us

“There is no chance of us bringing in a defensive coach,” Rodgers said. “..I think it is just a lack of coaching time that is hurting us. We need to reinforce

basic principles at defensive set pieces, but we know that already. We have to get better and we will be working on it.

Where the hell is Lovren in that picture! Looks like he's the furthest player back? mental.

If that's him on the far left, he is playing further up the pitch than Leicester's strikers did today.

LOL. Out of interest, what formation were Leicester playing today. I couldn't work out whether it was a 4-4-2 or an 8-1-1 or a 10-0

Heard an interesting snippet about Shaw the other day. Seems the rumours about his attitude towards his fitness are true, we'd been worried about him for some time and were happy for him to be Man Utd's problem as we were getting tired of trying to keep him in check.

Needed a huge kick up the backside, but he is undoubtably quality and will be world class. Perfectly happy with £30m though.

Is it just me then that thinks Ryan Bertrand, while maybe not having the natural talents of Luke Shaw, seems to be a more effective player for us this season than Shaw was last season. Ryan's attacking play seems far more effective than Shaw's was last season and his defensive qualities don't seem far off Shaw's either.

No, It's not just you.

Not hard for a left-back to look incredible against teams that park the bus as hard as Leicester and Palace did. Bertrand and Shaw both had acres of space to go forward. You judge their quality in games where they need to balance attack and defense where their positioning and decisions become crucial.

Very happy with Bertrand's performances so far, he has a lot more to his game than I expected - whipped in some beautiful crosses today. But Shaw will be one of the game's top defenders for 10+ years, which is why we charged £30m.

Not just you.......and I still question Shaw's defensive qualities. (positioning, how to tackle, etc,)

The father is from Liverpool but told some fans that they were Liverpool fans when AL was looking to join them. To now tell the world that they are Everton fans can't help the cause.

Yes, but he is brilliant going forward. Look at all the assists and goals he's scored so far in his career.

Saido Berahino prepared to move to a bigger club to fulfill his dreams.

Didn't take so long after his england call-up (were talking days here) to be convinced he MUST be playing for a CL cub asap.

This all sounds familiar to us. But what absolute bu11sh1t !

Maybe he'll demand a move to the second-placed team in the PL. ;)

funny one

this thread is a must read every weekend.

Schadenfreude...definately.

and Spuds - Stoke today. MoPo against the team we've just beat , TWICE. Could be fun!

There's no doubt about it, he is having a total nightmare. This is right back to his Lyon days, as bad as that.

But with us, when he was isolated 1 on 1, he always struggled and was most of the time beaten. (Away at Spurs last season being one example).

That was the one that sticks with me - He was shocking that game.

Thought he was great for us last season, but the way he left us has made me thoroughly enjoy his recent form :)

Impossible to forget the impression of two of the best DM's in Europe have though, CB's don't get that protection anywhere else.

Agreed - What a midfield.

I'm going to be gutted when we lose first Spiderman and then big Vic (if we lose them both next year I'm going to be inconsolable). Finding a replacement for either, let alone both, will be stupidly difficult.

You saw much of him in his Lyon days?

Seems to be the standard mongboard refrain when nobody actually saw him play, instead going on second-hand truths and half-truths.

Some of their fans are waking up to this and finally admitting Gerrard can't provide the defensive midfield cover his postion in the team dictates he should. Ours on the otherhand is stunningly effective.

Thought the midfield three of Lucas, Allen and Can they put out against Real was very stout. Needless to say, Gerrard and for that matter Henderson were nowhere near it.

I asked my Liverpool supporting mate (from Norfolk I sh*t you not) what he thought of LALAL so far and he called me a smug tuuat and told me to f' off.

It's hard to draw conclusions from such a short statement but the general impression I got was that he isn't happy.

Umm, it's not hard to work out is it? I remember watching some of the highlights and he was out of position, caught out, done for pace - there were few on here that were questioning the signing. (not me at the time tbh)

Also doesn't take a genius to see the views of the Lyon fans at the time he was sold. They were delighted.

Spurs one down. Great goal by bojan
Can see this game getting very nasty and an all out punch up. Think Poch has been using videos in training of Osvaldo at Newcastle and at Staplewood. Very firey
