HKsaint Posted 28 February, 2019 Posted 28 February, 2019 Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk each scored brace against Watford. No one remembers they were southampton players except us.
scotty Posted 28 February, 2019 Posted 28 February, 2019 Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk each scored brace against Watford. No one remembers they were southampton players except us.... . .....including them.
alpine_saint Posted 28 February, 2019 Posted 28 February, 2019 .....including them. you keep telling yourself that. Hard seeing what is going on at Anfield. I am not saying "that could have been us", but certainly we would not be in half the mess we are if we had had someone other than Reed who stood up to them...
East Kent Saint Posted 28 February, 2019 Posted 28 February, 2019 If only we hadn't sold Alan Shearer ........
angelman Posted 2 March, 2019 Posted 2 March, 2019 Not so much a defector (but didn't want to start a new thread), but SISU are on the brink of getting Coventry expelled from the league which might make lead them to going out of business. Very sad, and one of Lowe's better decisions to refuse to sell to them. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6764883/Cup-winners-face-league-axe-Sad-Coventry-City-brink-toxic-legal-row-Ricoh-Arena.html
Nordic Saint Posted 2 March, 2019 Posted 2 March, 2019 If only we hadn't sold Alan Shearer ........ We wouldn't have got Kerry Dixon and David Speedie.
OttawaSaint Posted 3 March, 2019 Posted 3 March, 2019 Safir Taïdir just scored for Montreal impact vs San Jose.
Badger Posted 3 March, 2019 Posted 3 March, 2019 We wouldn't have got Kerry Dixon and David Speedie. And probably wouldn't have persevered with Iain Dowie and Paul Moody either.
adrian lord Posted 3 March, 2019 Author Posted 3 March, 2019 That van Dyke was worth every penny that the dippers paid for him and then some.
whelk Posted 3 March, 2019 Posted 3 March, 2019 That van Dyke was worth every penny that the dippers paid for him and then some. Indeed but also funny how deflated he was and saying Everton were celebrating the nil nil. Too right they were cos that scuppers the fckers title bid.
adrian lord Posted 3 March, 2019 Author Posted 3 March, 2019 ^ yep - I commented similarly in the 'other games thread'.
Toadhall Saint Posted 3 March, 2019 Posted 3 March, 2019 That van Dyke was worth every penny that the dippers paid for him and then some. Not many better.
Guan 2.0 Posted 3 March, 2019 Posted 3 March, 2019 Lallana has been trending on twitter since the 0-0 draw with Everton. But hardly in the way he'd like.
Nordic Saint Posted 3 March, 2019 Posted 3 March, 2019 Fonte led his Lille team to another 1-0 win today and they remain undefeated this year. https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/53064295_2347393535491271_6545928272507568128_n.jpg?_nc_cat=104&_nc_ht=scontent-lht6-1.xx&oh=9cd6e864905b0c01d0f6f56d924a8dcc&oe=5D1249D7
Tamesaint Posted 4 March, 2019 Posted 4 March, 2019 Lallana has been trending on twitter since the 0-0 draw with Everton. But hardly in the way he'd like. Very amusing. Apparently Klopp was match fixing by bringing on Lallana. Lol. He has been paid £12 million in wages since an assist or a goal.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 March, 2019 Posted 4 March, 2019 That van Dyke was worth every penny that the dippers paid for him and then some. Indeed he is but he`s going to win eff all there

angelman Posted 4 March, 2019 Posted 4 March, 2019 Return to the Planet of the Apes? "Bale only communicates with gestures" https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47444043 Ah ha. When the going gets sticky, blame the foreigner.
angelman Posted 4 March, 2019 Posted 4 March, 2019 That van Dyke was worth every penny that the dippers paid for him and then some. Too many people, and I'm not accusing you of it, think that we had some proprietorial rights over the bloke.
Nordic Saint Posted 4 March, 2019 Posted 4 March, 2019 Too many people, and I'm not accusing you of it, think that we had some proprietorial rights over the bloke. The funny thing is, our owners would have been gutted if he'd insisted on seeing out his career with us, as they just saw him as a commodity to be sold for a profit at the right moment. The only reason his sale was delayed until January was that Gao wouldn't let Kat sell him before he parted with his money to her. Of course, Old Les was very good at putting a PR spin on things like that.
Dark Munster Posted 4 March, 2019 Posted 4 March, 2019 Ah ha. When the going gets sticky, blame the foreigner. Maybe it's because he's been there for 5 years and still hasn't bothered to learn Spanish.
angelman Posted 4 March, 2019 Posted 4 March, 2019 Maybe it's because he's been there for 5 years and still hasn't bothered to learn Spanish. Maybe, but if the Club aren't prepared for that, then they should be more circumspect with their signings. I saw Alexis Sanchez being interviewed on Sky or something the other day, and he speaks about as much English as Bale does Spanish. Aguero doesn't speak English either.

I saw Alexis Sanchez being interviewed on Sky or something the other day, and he speaks about as much English as Bale does Spanish. Aguero doesn't speak English either. It’s just the club trying to paint him as a bad egg to mitigate fallout when they don’t get a big fee for him this summer when he leaves
John Boy Saint Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 Ah ha. When the going gets sticky, blame the foreigner. Yup goalie can't catch a cold, defender can't stop the goalie being threatened by the ball coming at him. Blame the quiet bloke who chooses to live a personal life away from football, preferring to play golf, he isn't the first player not to talk about work the moment he walks out of the "office". I can't believe after 6 years he doesn't speak any Spanish, if he was carp Real would have moved him on with ease, Sorry lads you are going to have to grow a pair and put a bit of effort in, now the bloke who shielded you for years has buggered off to Italy.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 Poch turning into a big team whinging manager too now... https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/11655511/poch-dortmund-have-unfair-advantage

This ! Why has his language only became a problem now they are struggling ?

Interesting, didn't know that about Sanchez and Aguero. Inexcusable that they haven't bothered to learn the language after all these years. They can afford to hire the best teacher if they need one.
OVER THE HILL Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 Maybe it's because he's been there for 5 years and still hasn't bothered to learn Spanish. There's an interview on Youtube from 3 years ago and he's speaking decent Spanish so it's probably even better now.
Dark Munster Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 There's an interview on Youtube from 3 years ago and he's speaking decent Spanish so it's probably even better now. So Marcelo is telling porkies. Or maybe he (Marcelo) doesn't understand Spanish himself! Full-back Marcelo told Spanish newspaper Marca that Bale does not speak Spanish and only communicates with gestures.
Shandy_Top_89 Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 Just the two assists at the Bernabeu for Tadic so far tonight......
shurlock Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 Great performance by ajax so far. Hope it doesn’t end in tears for them.
LGTL Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 £10 million FFS Right up there with Mane for £35 million in the ridiculously stupid stakes.
Jonnyboy Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 Tadic/Gabbi would be a good combo in the prem... Oh wait.
The Cat Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 £10 million FFS Right up there with Mane for £35 million in the ridiculously stupid stakes. Almost as ridiculously stupid as the fans that used to give him abuse on a regular basis while he was here. It's almost like a lot of supporters are a bit thick.
Turkish Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 I’m bursting with pride on this great night for saints seeing 5 of our former players in the champions league. Really great to see it and testament to the strong roster we have and continue to have.
Lighthouse Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 £10 million FFS Right up there with Mane for £35 million in the ridiculously stupid stakes. Mane had 2 years left on his contract and this was before transfers went insane. Back when De Bruyne was 'only' £50m. Tadic was 30 and wanted to leave. Nobody else would have bought him and Ajax couldn't afford any more. It was basically that or being stuck with an unhappy player, who had been below his best for a couple of years anyway. Can't we just be pleased for him? He never acted like a tw*t when he wanted to leave and it was the right time for both parties to move on.
qwertyell Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 Sold for £10m. [emoji38] [emoji38] [emoji38]And we replaced him with Elyounoussi for £15m. So we lost money on the deal and gained a make-a-wish tragic case. That's some cracking wheeling and dealing... Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
vectraman Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 I’m in a bar in Amsterdam watching them Vs Real. They love Tadic, and he has been brilliant tonight! Fingers crossed for the second half!

I think they could afford a bit more.
vectraman Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 In fairness he wanted to go to Ajax to finish his career, and owed us nothing!

He never acted like a tw*t when he wanted to leave and it was the right time for both parties to move on. Well said. Why do our fans get so hissy with players who leave but have done Saints proud over their whole career with us? The Mane sale was however badly negotiated. He went too cheaply.
angelman Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 Why would an overseas player want to play for a small provincial club in England, that has struggled due to a **** poor owner, when he can go to his adopted home and play for one of Europe's big clubs (even if it is in a supposedly weaker league)? Do people think that as soon as an overseas player comes to Saints, that he will be here for ever more?
Lighthouse Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 The Mane sale was however badly negotiated. He went too cheaply. The same summer Man City bought Jesus for £27m, Gundogan for £20m and Sane for £37m. Chelsea bought Kante for £32m. Utd bought Mkhitaryan for £30m. The Mane fee was comparable with any of those and as I said, he only had 2 years left on his contract.
Saint86 Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 Tadic is currently destroying real Madrid. Judged not good enough by our fan base of experts... Nothing to do with playing under incredibly defensive managers that didn't attack.
shurlock Posted 5 March, 2019 Posted 5 March, 2019 Never saw him instinctively take a shot on like that for us. Wow.
