nta786 Posted 11 May, 2018 Share Posted 11 May, 2018 Pochettino feels it is time to celebrate such success, despite not having a trophy to show for it. He said: "I think it's a fantastic achievement [to be the top London club]. In the last three years we have achieved a massive thing to play Champions League at this football club but we never celebrate [it]. "But in Southampton we avoided relegation and finished eighth in the table and we had an unbelievable party. It's true! My wife was so unhappy because I was dancing but no one recorded it, so don't worry! "Sometimes we miss those things. Clubs like Crystal Palace and Southampton - there's always a massive party at the end of the season. They are happy with what happened so they can celebrate. "So it's a little bit strange that always the feeling is not great - we finished our first season fifth, finishing better than the previous season - it's okay, but it's not enough. ------------------------------------------------------------------ lol come back here and you can have parties every year. That same Spurs squad would have won trophies under Pep or Jose They have a good squad but the teams above and around them have spent hundreds of millions more on their squads than Spurs have. Pep would have wanted X extra millions spent on the team (how rubbish was Man City last year before he spent all at money on new goalkeepers? ) and Jose has proved that whilst 200 million gets you to second place, it's pretty ****e football and they lost to all three of the promoted sides. I am not sure either would have won anything with the exact same Spurs squad. They don't work in that way- they buy their success.

Be interesting to see what becomes of Spurs over the next couple of seasons. Arsene Wenger was asked in his last pre match press conference what he felt was his greatest achievement, and felt it was when Arsenal moved into the Emirates and he still managed to keep Arsenal qualifying for the champions league and up the top of the Premier League, despite the financial restrictions placed on his spending power due to the expense of building a new stadium. Spurs apparently already run a tight ship where players wages are concerned, so having spent a heap on the new WHL, will their financial wings be clipped for a couple of seasons too!
