hypochondriac Posted 28 July, 2014 Share Posted 28 July, 2014 If he was interested in being here long term, there wouldn't be many better things for an ambitious manager than ludicrous funds and a blank slate to build your own philosophy in the best league in the world with players you can choose specifically for it from the start... *clutches desperately for straws* Does that sound likely to you? Baird of the land Posted 28 July, 2014 Share Posted 28 July, 2014 Yeah, I doubt Koeman is happy but he's not going to exacerbate problems by mouthing off. If transfers don't come off and there's a bad start to season could see it unravelling quickly.
hans gruber Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 Wow. Amazing that he would come to the club in these circumstances. I saw Koeman was doing a few laps. Clearly he thinks he is still capable of playing , dont be surprised to see him partner Fonte on openeing day v Liverpool. Be more mobile than Jos I would think Also, we now have a replacement for Rickie to take free kicks and penalties. Also dont be surprised if brother Erwin starts in the midfield opening day v Liverpool

hans gruber Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 along with Sammy Lee? He will be on the bench Dog no doubt. Can come on for Gaston and be our creative midfielder at around the 60-70 min mark. got the makings of a good solid mid table side this . If the Koeman boys can pick up their fitness can see us pushing for Europa League posi.
Killers Knee Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 I cannot see RK staying. Having the entire team sold from under you is one thing, but having it done in such a fashion that makes buying replacements all but impossible is another. TwoPints Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 Looks like Ronnie's getting bored already. Ronald Koeman (@Koeman1963) tweeted at 5:55 pm on Mon, Jul 28, 2014: There are some nice pictures in my office at the training ground in #SouthamptonFC http://t.co/GU07spZ1QG (https://twitter.com/Koeman
angelman Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 Maybe Koeman has integrity - bringing Pelle and Tadic here, along with his brother and their respective families, he may not want to leave them high and dry by walking out. He's also in a no lose situation. Keep us up = hero. Relegated = what did you expect?

Window Cleaner Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 Could any manager in the world except maybe the top 4 rebuild a team to the extent we need too in just 4ish weeks? Probably thinks that his best shot is to try to buy players that he knows and has worked with before. Nothing wrong with that really except that most of them have no experience outside what I'd term lower leagues, Dutch, Scotland etc. Being thrown into the PL with a week's work behind you can be a shock to the system. He won't get the best of them either, too expensive or better offers.

They are "impossible" because all that potential transfer targets are seeing at the moment is SFC's Sale Of The Century Who, in their right mind will want to come to a Club like that ?? Only Journeymen, NONE of any Quality. Those are our options out there, no more, no less We have sold all the Quality

Play well for a season and get a lucrative transfer to a bigger club, perhaps. The worst that could happen is that they get well paid for doing a job that most people can only dream of. Were talking about professional mercenaries here.

rick1976.4.38 Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 I hope khoeman can get the players he needs before aug17 two more preseason games to gel as a team is a hard ask for any manager. think weve a fairly solid midfield to be honest, even when morgan goes. defence is the major issue, plus another striker. anfield is not going to be a happy away end first game but all of us going need to get behind who is left coys

Mercenaries or not, the stark truth is that (IMHO) SFC are finding it very very difficult to get Players IN I think you can safely say they have mastered the art of getting Players OUT
TwoPints Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 I'm seriously starting to worry that Koeman might pack it all in to be honest. His two recent tweetsc(the empty training ground and pictures on the wall of his office) suggest he's got the hump that he has no players to train and that he has nothing worthwhile to do. Might just be innocent tweets but the two together are starting to make me wonder whether he bought into this 'plan' after all.

Don't get swept up in that bandwagon that all the media jumped on like flies round sh!t. Ronald often tweets a picture of the training set up before they start. People who are suggesting a dig at the club or him being ironic are simply wide of the mark.

I've been away for three weeks, I'll admit that, but when did Koeman join? Give the fellow a chance, how long did it take Liverpool to get Lovren? Koeman alluded to his leaving being a factor in getting a replacement.
lordswoodsaints Posted 29 July, 2014 Share Posted 29 July, 2014 If koeman wasn't aware of whats happening now then it will all end in tears,if he was aware but is struggling to find replacements then again it will all end in tears,if however this is all part of a long term plan then it will probably end in tears Whichever way u look at it the new 'Dutch experiment' will probably end in tears
