K,Billy's supersound Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Come on Guan or k billy......tell us this isn't true It is. Been told its more than likely to happen. Hull don't want to sell but his family have not settled and he wants to move back down south. Personally i think he is a good addition maybe the price is a little to high but sky don't actually know the fee. One of those players that always causes defenses problems and i would rather him be playing for us than against. For me he would be a good addition.

Cheers KBS, tend to agree, he sliced us through us 2 years ago for WBA
Plastic Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 (edited) Shane long? No thanks. Edited 12 August, 2014 by Plastic
Saint Charlie Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 At least he is fairly quick and often makes good runs to stretch the game. K Billy - Gardos close? With him and Long do you think just one more addition after that?
S-Clarke Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Seems like we're shopping in the desperation market to be honest. Thanks for the confirmation k,billy.
Toon Saint Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 For £6-7m Long would be a really good signing. If we've accepted that Hernandez won't be joining we may well be scouting for someone with similar attributes and a striker who is proven at PL level. Definitely not the most glamorous name to be linked with us, but we can't keep taking punts on players with no experience of the Premier League even if they might be cheaper. Might well be worth paying the premium for someone who should pretty much guarantee 8-10 goals a season. I think with the right service and striking partnership he could score quite a few more, definitely has the potential to anyway.

Not ambition if Shane FourGoalsForHull Long is the type of player we want to bring in. A terrible throw back to a style of football I hoped had been killed, cremated and sown on a lake. **** sake.
Bewildered Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Don't really think signing Shane Long would take any pressure off Pelle to deliver from the start since Long can not be relied upon to bring the goals if Pelle struggles.
Saint Garrett Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 10m is absolutely bum rape for Shane Long.
madruss Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Rather have Long than Hernandez. This x 100. Quality striker and will add real depth to the squad.
S-Clarke Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Rather have Long than Hernandez. Are you a mental??
Saint Matty 76 Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Kind of signing that just confirms us as a mediocre lower mid-table side.
Greenridge Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 This x 100. Quality striker and will add real depth to the squad. If ever there was an apt username

A terrible throw back to a style of football I hoped had been killed, cremated and sown on a lake. **** sake. Throw back? He has terrific pace, movement, and work-rate. Has scored some lovely goals too. Needs to be more prolific, certainly, but think if played in the right system he could be a really good fit. Could see Pelle and Long partnership working rather well. £10m is too much for him, but in a window when Fulham have forked out £11m for a Championship striker, hardly obscene.

IIRC Yoshida won mongboard man of the match for his performance against the deadly duo of Long and Jelavic. Says it all.
K,Billy's supersound Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Gardos went back home sunday so not sure whats happening with him.

Pace - he never quite recovered that after Hutton's tackle. Workrate,I'll give you but would rather take a chance with a Champo player for what he brings and what they're allegedly asking.
madruss Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 If ever there was an apt username On paper, hernandez is a slightly better prospect than long. On paper, Osvaldo is loads better than Long. But with long you'd actually get a professional player who wanted to play for the club. Hernandez would come here with Billy big ****** attitude and would be an effing disaster. So yeah of the two I'd rather have Long
SuperSAINT Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Hernandez > Ings > Long (In that order). Long will put a shift in, but crikey, £10m is a bit steep!

Saints foreva Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Kind of signing that just confirms us as a mediocre lower mid-table side. Best Saints can hope for without a City type owner tbh. I don't mind Long but even with him signing it's still been a massively disappointing transfer window so far and time is running out.
Saint Charlie Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Gardos went back home sunday so not sure whats happening with him. Maybe his injury was worse than expected?
ThreeSixty Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Are you a mental?? Not at all. Hernandez couldn't play our system. It's that simple.
saint_ed Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 I think we need to recognise the system that Ronald is setting us up to play. The striker is his mind is one who gets the ball to stick and bring others in to play - both Pelle and Long are pretty adept at that. He will be expecting far more goals from our midfield than ever before IMO. Not really the system we have been used to, or one I enjoy but let's just hope it gets results. On face value I fear we are going to struggle to score enough which is odd as I thought that is what RK got a reputation for in Holland.
Roger Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Maybe his injury was worse than expected? Jesus we really are a joke.
stanthemanfairoak Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Just been on SSN that we've made an a enquiry for Shane Long. Would cost a pretty penny given he only moved to Hull recently. Could be a good signing though.who makes this s*ite up:rolleyes:
Greenridge Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Long will do for us until J-Rod is fit. A £10m short-term fill-in. We must have won the pools.
S-Clarke Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Jesus we really are a joke. Not sure how that makes us a joke? Signing a player with an injury that means he never plays for us would make us a joke.
saint_ed Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Jesus we really are a joke. Why, because we're being careful to not proceed with a potential sick note? I'd say that's pretty intelligent.
Batman Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Not sure how that makes us a joke? Signing a player with an injury that means he never plays for us would make us a joke. I think the fact we are going to anfield with yosh playing after it was painfully clear we needed a CB is hilarious
SuperSAINT Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Seems like we're shopping in the desperation market to be honest. I was hoping for Clasie... We'll probably be looking at Quashie
S-Clarke Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 I think the fact we are going to anfield with yosh playing after it was painfully clear we needed a CB is hilarious Yeah, we've not exactly shown that our 'amazing' scouting system is actually that amazing. tbh.
farawaysaint Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 who makes this s*ite up:rolleyes: K Billy confirmed interest. We're obviously down to our 4th choices.
Matthew Le God Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport Interesting that Sky have talked about a possible #saintsfc bid for Shane Long, a BBC colleague called us this morning about it... #gotlegs
S-Clarke Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 I was hoping for Clasie... We'll probably be looking at Quashie I guess our new method ensures that the players won't be going to the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd at the end of the season. Mid-table me up.
Greenridge Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 I think the fact we are going to anfield with yosh playing after it was painfully clear we needed a CB is hilarious We're going with one CB and Yosh up front with Pelle. Cutting edge stuff.
Mr Saints Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 I'd take Long. Would add much needed pace to the front line and has scored goals in the Prem.
Turkish Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Bit if a come down from the Huntelaar rumour of yesterday.
shurlock Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 I think the fact we are going to anfield with yosh playing after it was painfully clear we needed a CB is hilarious Come on, he had Shane Long in his pocket for the whole of the Hull game.
Batman Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 If we are down the list to long. God knows what CB and winger we will end up with (if at all)
Saint_Tony Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Long has been mentioned as a potential decent signing for the last couple of transfer windows yet now he's a poor signing? Seems strange. Ignoring the excessive fee, he's a good player at this level, the sort of striker we could have done with at times last season. Would definitely take him even for £10 million
madruss Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 I think the fact we are going to anfield with yosh playing after it was painfully clear we needed a CB is hilarious Such melodrama! Fonte - yoshida was our CB partnership when we played Liverpool in 2012 at anfield and they were absolutely fine. That was with gazza in goal and suarez playing for Liverpool

Ignoring the excessive fee, he's a good player at this level, the sort of striker we could have done with at times last season. Would definitely take him even for £10 million We could have done with him last season as we had an England front 3. He would have added to that Now, we have to replace those goals or we will be in deep shyt
shurlock Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Hernandez > Ings > Long (In that order). Long will put a shift in, but crikey, £10m is a bit steep! Look on the bright side. Shane Long > Kevin Doyle > Dave Kitson
Block 5 Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 Perhaps the Shane Long enquiry is a clever ruse to flush out Hernandez...?
SuperSAINT Posted 12 August, 2014 Posted 12 August, 2014 If we are down the list to long. God knows what CB and winger we will end up with (if at all) The Redmond talk has disappointingly died down. I'd take Zaha at this rate. Can play up top, or off the front man as well.
