Just imagine how awful it would be if transfers went on all season, no one would ever settle and rumours would upset everyone all the time. At least we have an end to it.

The transfers may stop but the rumours of them don't, and the rumours still unsettle the players..

For those worrying about Pelle being Altidore v2.0, the latter's goalscoring record wasn't particularly impressive for the eredivisie and every Dutch person I have spoken to about him agreed he was a very average striker. If being average in the eredivisie converts to being woeful in the PL, hopefully Pelle's exceptional record will convert to the upper end of average/lower end of good at the very least!

To be honest Altidore had failed as a striker virtually everywhere he'd played except at Alkmaar, think if you tot up his games elsewhere (except for MLS which is worth absolute firk all) you get a bit over 100 games for a handful of goals, say 8 or 9. At Alkmaar 55 from about 110/115. Can't see why Sunderland signed him as he'd already proved at Hull that he was shîte. As for Pelle well we'll going to find out very soon aren't we.

Pelle's record is very poor elsewhere too. I'm not going to judge him as I've never seen him play, but I'm very concerned by his lack of games and goals pre-Feyernoord. Still, we have to trust Roko's judgement that he is good enough

Because football fans in the main are idiots pal. Whinging, moaning, complaining dinlows. From the clown that stands behind you thinking he's funny, like the bloke in the Northam who used to shout "Go on Hoover" in his broadest 'ampshire accent then look round laughing every time Hoolveld got near the ball, to the ones who scream "f*ck off Guly" everytime Guly gets near the pitch. The ones who shout "stop f*cking about with it, get it fooooooorwarrrrrrrd" and then moan that Lambert was a lazy c*nt because he didn't chase a long punt down field while it ran out for a throw in by the corner flag. Fat, dopey, thick, scruffy idiots.

This.

Sorry if this has already been posted but Arsenal and us have been linked with Clément Grenier 23 yr old french winger from Lyon and I really can't see Arsenal needing or wanting him so that leaves us in pole postion! Has also already turned down Newcastle this summer. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/498407/Arsenal-and-Southampton-on-alert-as-Lyon-s-Clement-Grenier-admits-exit-wish

Probably just looks on thinking "One good season there and I could get a move to a club like Liverpool"

Sick Note Grenier will still be at Lyon on the day he retires. Physically far too weak for a CM, he's not a winger either, they could at least get that bit right.

Previously linked with us, though I don't believe the interest was ever there.

West Bromwich have bid 5.5m€ for Parma's winger Biabiany

So it seems a little quiet on the rumour front other than the Gardos situation.

Anyone of the view we may have done all we are going to in this transfer window (excluding what may or may not happen with MS) or do we think there may be one or two more to come?

Southampton have contacted Lazio for bosnian international Lulic

seems to be a bit of a journeyman IMO

why not redmond?

I can honestly say I know nothing about Lulic and there's not many players I can say that about.

I'm not sold on the idea of Redmond to be honest.

You'd think we could attract better players than either of them really wouldn't you.

Absolutely. I can only hope that we do have other irons in the fire that have been kept very quiet. Clearly we can keep things quiet as seen with Bertrand and Gardos.

but we now have a situation where isgrove is being talked about as decent for us.

he was decent for peterborough, ffs

although I'd have thought we could do better than Gardos really. Not seen much of him of course but players from the Romanian league do not really excite me.

I am surprised we haven't gone for the likes of Van Dijk to be honest. Though clearly something is wrong as Van Gaal doesn't rate him and we've been told neither does RK.

I know it doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things, but I really wish we were linked with some English (or even British) players. (Forster aside, natch)

But there must be better than Van Dijk as well, seems that we have a strictly limited budget to be adhered to. Perhaps we're waiting for the arse end of the window when clubs drop their valuations for respectable players.

Koeman suggested earlier this season that LVG should look at Van Dijk for the WC squad so not sure how its been interpreted that he doesnt rate him.

Fact is, we may still get another CB, or we feel Gardos is a better player/value than Van Dijk with better experience, or perhaps Van Dijk is off elsewhere.

Interesting, I hadn't heard that about RK recommending him. That clearly rubbishes the claims from whoever posted on here that Les said RK doesn't rate him.

Too pricey to buy. We grow them.

Ings and Bryam, Wickham and Redmond aside, too... ;)

Don't be surprised if we end up with an English winger who isn't Redmond. Though I think we need to wait until the end of the window as we don't want to boost the coffers of the selling club as they could come back to bite us in the arse.

Stirling? :suspicious:

Probably means someone mediocre like Lennon, does he still play for Spurs?

miles better, in serie A?

Yes, for a club much bigger than Saints. Don't forget Europa League, Champions League, World Cup quals and finals. You know, all those competitions where Redmond has really thrived....

Posted
Lulic is clearly miles better than Redmond if you do some research....
Different points in their careers, but nether have particularly exciting track records to date in my opinion.

Regarding a wide player, it has to be someone capable of scoring goals. We are lacking goals in the team, so a Redmond type, who is hit and miss and scored I think one or two PL goals last season doesn't cut it for me.

We need a wide forward who will offer a threat in behind, otherwise we are a tidy side, but one thats easy to defend against.

Considering the (apparent) current lack of transfer activity on our behalf (other than Gardos) I can see us having a couple of Spurs players as part of the inevitable Schneiderlin move on deadline day.

Townsend would be good. Brightened up England no end before he was injured.

Townsend is one of those players who really flatters to deceive. He looks like he's doing a lot because he runs at people and he can run really fast but there's a reason he's been peripheral at Spurs and loaned out 9 times, and that's because his end product is severely lacking. Might get the fans excited as he covers a lot of ground on the ball but apart from that there is little to get excited about with him.

better than isgrove, mcQueen or any other wide sort of pacey player we have

By virtue of having more experience. He may be better than what we have, but we could also sign a lot better than Townsend. He would seriously underwhelm me if we got him because all he is good for is running fast with the ball and then doing nothing with it!

will eat my own feet if we do

redmond seems as exciting as it got with potential wingers
