Sporting Lisbon saying now that they are keeping him, not for sale. Understandable receiving only 25% of any payments.

 

Still Doyen will get 50% of the 32 milion paid for Mangala, that should keep the wolf from the door for a couple of weeks so perhaps they don't need the money from a Rojo sale...yet.

Well, they got £11m from Fulham for McCormack, so maybe they think that this is what they will get for everyone. He signed a new 4 year deal in 2013. Byram has a year less (ending 2016). We aren't going to pay that, they aren't going to get that, but then I guess they don't want to sell.

Sorry if already mentioned - according to this Danish article, the agent of Lokeren defender Alexander Scholz has mentioned Saints and Sunderland as interested in signing his player:

He's a CB/RB and would cost around €2-3M. Celtic seems to be front runners on this one though...

I dissagree. If something happened to Fonte I would like us to have another of similar strength at least to come in alongside Gardos. Jos and Maya are just not good enough to assume the responsibility for an extended period of time.

Better for less would be fairly difficult to find I think, 4 million £ isn't a lot of money PL wise. Work permlit regulations being as they are of course. If the Uk had no work permit criteria for non EU players then I'm sure we could find better and for less. Just don't let the bloke who scouted Mayuka have anything to do with it

Why are you including future years? In 2014/15 Saints are only paying for their 2014/15 wages.

So now all players are to be paid out of transfer receipts ? That's a bit strange isn't it? I mean the PL central fund actually give us a lot of money for that don't they.

If we'd have kept the err 7 players that are no longer here we'd have had to pay them, as we did last season with a salary mass of 52 million £ or so. No-one is going to make me believe that we're paying Pelle as much as we did Lambert or Taider as much as we did Osvaldo.

Maybe I'm impatient, I just want an exciting signing that proves conclusively Saints are still ambitious and mean business. Rojo or Hernandez would have done that. Belhanda not as much, but still would be excellent.

 

I don't blame Saints for most this, but UEFA. Why is it that 5 days before the season starts we are all looking at the league and unable to judge team's squads? All saying 'see what they look like after the deadline'.

 

Championship clubs may look good, but who'll lose players before the deadline?

 

It's madness. Just say July 31st, then focus on the season ahead FFS!

I would say backup should be the 4th choice and really you need three centre backs competing for the starting places. It shouldn't be that one injury or suspension hampers the team hugely.

Agree.

 

Yoshida seems to make some mistake every game. He is always a 'mistake away' from a balls up, which is marginally better than Jos just having an own goal just around the corner I suppose.

he is probably champions league standard (as in a decent team in the CL)
