Nolan Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 (edited) How close would Fonte be to be regarded as one now, he´s been in the country since summer 07...? Or do they have to been here from u21 or younger to be one of those....? They have to have been affiliated with British clubs for at least two full seasons prior to the the season in which they turn 21 to qualify as being Homegrown. edit.... So Gazzaniga actually may qualify depending on what point in August 2011 Gillingham signed him. Edited 9 August, 2014 by Nolan
simo Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 Those 4 plus Hernandez and we have an amazing squad. Would really quash any rumours of asset stripping, wanting to sell, no ambition etc. Would just need time to gel but amazing talent and back up. Would be very happy with Redmond, Isgrove and Ramirez competing for a spot before JRod comes back. Hernandez off to Juve apparently
S-Clarke Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 (edited) Hernandez off to Juve apparently Yeah, looks like a done deal. Seems to be suggesting it's as part of the overall deal taking Vidal to Utd. Edited 9 August, 2014 by S-Clarke
St Jim Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 @SimonPeach: “@JAShapland: @SimonPeach any talk of another striker coming in, Simon?” Yeah, they want one of them too Hernandez or Remy please... Rather have Bony but I very much doubt he'd be interested (apparently his head is in Liverpool) and he'd cost too much.
Saint_Tony Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 None of Hernandez, Bony or Remy would ever come to us, we are wasting our time. Ings should be the number one target as it's realistic and we've had success buying Championship (now premier league) players.

Should have signed Ings by now.
Saint_Tony Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 It's a step down for all of them. Bony will only move to a bigger club, we're a sideways move. Hernandez will still want to play at the top even if it's on the bench, and Remy will only go to whoever wants to pay ridiculous wages
St Chalet Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 We are a CB, Wide Player and a Striker away from being competitive.

The second I'm not so sure about, though the fact that Koeman has put Isgrove in the starting 11 against Leverkusen but not Gallagher or Mayuka suggests he thinks we need s striker from somewhere.

doddisalegend Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 That's a relief, I was quite worried that Koeman resorted to Mayuka yesterday. Jesus Mayuka was bad yesterday looked almost shocked to be in the penalty area after Corks defence splitting pass yesterday like a rabbit in headlights.

Hernandez will still want to play at the top even if it's on the bench, and Remy will only go to whoever wants to pay ridiculous wages I agree we are a sideways move and see Bony going onto bigger things than us but should we sign the likes of Rojo, Gardin, Redmond and Byram I think it shows more ambition than Swansea and we may be seen as a better option with forward momentum. Certainly not saying it is likely but stranger things have happened in football. Ings added to the other four on the list would be incredible! It would really show we mean business and, I think, we would have a far better squad than last year.
CB Fry Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 Blah blah who would have thought blah blah all those years ago blah blah European Footballer of the Year blah little old Southampton blah blah. Thought I'd save some forum contributors a bit of time. Can't see us signing any of those three, although the Hernandez story is odd in that it won't go away, suggesting it is a possibility, however slender. I guess it is possible that although the likes of Atletico offer CL football, we can pay him more.

Greenridge Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 We are a CB, Wide Player and a Striker away from being competitive. And the clock is really ticking now. Not just to meet the Liverpool and window deadlines but to make sure they have some semblance of integration in to the team so that we're not playing catch up even before the season has got underway.
Saint_Tony Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 It's become quite clear all of our business won't be done by next weekend. Have a feeling Gardos will be a done deal but that's about it

Saint_Tony Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 We all know the club need another 4/5 players, but it's simply not going to happen. The Schneiderlin situation will also go on for a couple of weeks until Arsenal weigh in with a £25 million deadline day bid

saint_ed Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 Interesting - suggests that we're after another creative, Lallana-type player. That is, in addition to Tadic. Possibly a more conventional winger? Belhanda.

Roger Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 Source? Why isn't it. We are trying hard to get rojo, Romanian defender, after byram, and after a lallana replacement and centre forward in Hernandez. I'm happier than I was.
Roger Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 5 more we need, right back cover , 2 centre backs, 1 right sided one left. Rojo perfect as can cover left back too, quick player in lallana role and a quality forward ie Hernandez. Anything else a bonus. One thing I'm a bit worried about is if we don't get rojo, the Romanian guy is right sided as it fonte so we don't want to be left with yoshida or jos playing.

stevy777_x Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 Belhanda. If we buy Belhanda, I ll have an orgasm. This guy with Giroud in 2011/2012 gave the French title to Montpellier while a team of stars at PSG was being assembled. Lots of skill lots of unpredictability lots of creativity. Exactly what we need and at a good age.

Saint_Tony Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 People will moan, but its the same for other clubs. I think we will be trying to bring in new recruits up until the final minutes of the window.
ratio_decidendi Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 Have just noticed that Leroy Fer is missing from Norwich's team facing Wolves today. We've been linked with him recently, and I guess he's not a bad player but I'd much rather Redmond be absent instead.

Like, REALLY don't need him. He's a good player, but we're really stocked up on CMs at the moment. Now, if he was a RB, CB or ST I would be happier, but he's none of those!

Berudenot2 Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 Was really impressed with Bayer Leverkusen's number 21 Omer Toprak. Nothing got past him. HCDAJFU
Saint Charlie Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 Redmond anonymous for Norwich today. A signing out wide is crucial for us, not sure Redmond is up to the level we need to be honest.
S-Clarke Posted 10 August, 2014 Posted 10 August, 2014 Redmond was pretty inept today to say the least, but so was the entirety of Norwich's attack and tactics. A very poorly managed team.
