Transfer Rumours Only

For what it's worth, from our end at Celtic all the whispers have been that they'll go if we get knocked out on Wednesday, which looks very likely. I'd imagine it will be over the coming weekend.

Southampton seem to have been strongly linked with both players, especially Forster and he looks like he'll head down to you. Not sure about Van Dijk as he'll have a lot more interest than Forster - though not sure who it will be who'll bid for him. Would be surprised if you didn't sign at least one of them.

Thanks Mulgrew and welcome.

I had read somewhere that Van Dijk got on well with Koeman which might place us at an advantage should he become available.

If that did happen then I would be really chuffed if he joined us - He has looked good for you over the past season.

I too think there is more in the Forster rumour and that we might well win his signature should your CL foray end early and Celtic make him available - I guess that seems more likely with you getting Gordon in early on.

A bloke over at the UI just posted this:

"Stefan Kießling - Striker, 6'3", 30yrs old from Leverkusen. Supposedly due for medical today 14m Euros."

Would seem odd to let a similar aged Lambert (who is prem proven) go for £4m & then buy this guy for £10-11M? On the positive side this guy has played 6 times for the German national side (but never scored, unlike Lambert).

Lambert has scored for Germany too? Wow

Cheers Mulgrew21' welcome to the mad house.

Cheers mate.

Is Forster any better than Boruc would you say mulgrew? I spose you've seen a fair bit of both. Also what's the skinny on Van Dijk, is he Big Dijk or more Limp Dijk?

It's a hard one. Forster makes less mistakes than Boruc did but Artur was capable of absolutely magnificent saves. Forster's technical ability is atrocious at times (I believe he didn't take up football until his late teens) so Artur is probably a better bet if Southampton continue to play the ball out from the back because Forster isn't good enough with his feet to start passing the ball out.

If I was in charge I'd save my transfer funds for other positions.

Van Dijk is our best player by an absolute mile for me. Also brilliant on the ball and great for a goal. He's capable of smashing 30 yard free kicks into the top corner. Obviously it's difficult to tell up here how good a player really is but I'd rather have him than Wanyama.

Both will go but there is no way the board will sell them until our Champions League fate has been sorted. We're 4-1 down before we play at Murrayfield on Wednesday so it looks like we'll be out, but if we do turn that around then they'll 100% still be here until after the final qualifying round. It's just whether Southampton or other interested clubs want to wait the extra couple of weeks or whatever it will be.

2014 he scored 13 in 27

2013 he scored 25 in 34

2012 he scored 16 in 34

2010 he scored 21 in 33

Do you like coming across as an idiot or something?

i notice you've missed 2011 out. Talk about being selective. I'm with Shatman.......let the soiling of underwear commence. Also, waaaaaahhh!

So which number is higher? I assume they taught you how to count on das boat.

why are so aggressive?

just because I do not rate this fella at £14m and do not think he would provide any more than the bloke we just let go for a fraction of that warrants you being all hard about it?

I think it's the fact that you made **** up to prove your point, and questioned me about what I said when it was blatantly true (ie quantitative not qualitative).

why have you missed season out in your list?

he is decent in a different country and over 30

to sign him for £14m is madness compared to what we have let go

if he was half that price, that would be different

You've got to remember that Batman knows more about football than our coach, director of football or tea lady. If he were running this club we would not only be in the Champions League we'd have won it every year. Why don't the numpties at the club l listen to him? Running a football club is really simple. Why don't they listen? Why? Why?

then why have we let lambert go to spend £10m more on a player with zero prem experience

Playing Devils advocate but Kiessling does have 2/3 years of youth over Rickie and is at the peak of his powers, Rickie I believe is just past his peak. 15-20 goals per season over two and a bit years would pay for itself.

Because you said he'd only ever had 2 good seasons so I was listing his good season's. Had quite a bad injury in 2011 though and missed a lot of that season season. It's not £14m it's Euros.

How is saying he's only had 2 good seasons (when he's had more) an opinion when you blatantly know nothing about him.

I dont know why so many care about the fees we are paying (or allegedly paying)?

If the player is any good, lets just get them in. let the club/owners worry about fees/finances.

All this nonsense about - "id be happy for him to sign, but no for £14m" STFU!!

It,s getting to the point where people will be delighted with panic buys which to be honest is all the club could probably manage.

The reason signings cannot get " over the line" is that anyone half decent would not want to get involved with this crock of ****.

Having watched him play last season he's less mobile than Lambert. Just saying...

Yes that's it. Because the board is either incompetent or secretly trying to sell the club or take the maximum amount of money out of it but they still care enough about fan opinion to get a couple of panic buys in to keep us happy. Who would want to be involved with a club like Saints?

Why don't we chill and let the club do what it has to do and then judge? We don't know what is going on being the scenes. We've signed a couple of good players and the club says more are coming. I'm happy to accept that until it proves to be false. I can't influence it either way. I'm as impatient as the next person for news of signings but I don't feel that the club needs to tell me all the details until deals are done. The board may be lying , although that would make the signings they've already made a bit of a mystery, or they may be incompetent. But why not wait a little before rushing to judgement?
