niceandfriendly Posted 4 August, 2014 Share Posted 4 August, 2014 Hope we start getting linked to some shïtty CBs because we wouldn't want to block Jack Stephens progression to the first team. Seems to be the new desperate mongboard mantra Good enough for Barcelona fans but not for the mong board! Which is it chaps? Seems you can't decide which actions are quintessentially "mong board"! Shurlock reckons it's if we're optimistic about bringing in ****ty players, but Goatboy reckons it's if we're not optimistic about bringing in ****ty players. Or is it perhaps those who use the term "mong board" are in fact the "mongs" themselves? What ever the f*ck a "mong" is.
niceandfriendly Posted 4 August, 2014 Share Posted 4 August, 2014 Going by the link, yep. What us mongboarders tend to do is base our opinions on players after watching them play, as opposed to reading/believing made up Daily Express articles. Keeercraaazy thought! saint_ed Posted 4 August, 2014 Share Posted 4 August, 2014 But we set expectations that we hoped to sign 2-3. Not just 1. We hoped to do something and didn't manage it. So we failed at what we attempted to do. With the club in such a state of flux and fans rightly concerned at what is happening to extend that level of hope to the fans and then not deliver is a little naïve. Fans are crying out for information then when they get it they hang on every little word (even making their own interpretation of it). Is it any wonder the club choose to stay quiet during negotiations. Football/life isn't straight forward; things get delayed more often than not, particularly complex financial arrangements. We are STILL close, probably even closer than Friday so have a little patience.

Keeercraaazy thought! That is blatantly untrue. How many people who have an opinion on Taider or Schelotto have seen them play? Tadic? Pelle? You haven't quite grasped the nature of the mb IMHO. Mallagroth Posted 4 August, 2014 Share Posted 4 August, 2014 (edited) Our new Manager did on Thursday night. He may have just been putting pressure on the Board to get deals done to be fair. They may even have them done and be waiting until today to announce them. But at the end of the day if you had told Saints fans at the start of summer that we'd be linked to Samaras the response would be 'meh'. Then if you had told them we'd be linked to him on a free after selling nearly £100m worth of talent they'd be angry. Not sure why we shouldn't be angry now. Because you are all acting like spoilt children, the business isn't done with yet many continue to pass final judgement on our transfer window and in some cases our whole season! All these spot judgements are happening each time a news article and piece of spin is released, which simply tells me that many people are stupid enough to be controlled by media opinion without really giving their club the benefit of their support. Moans and realities: Board should have got signings in sooner, when signings happen isn't in their control. Mopo & players demanded to leave, board put up a fight but ultimately couldn't stop them. Saints need squad depth, we make some loan signings. Koeman says he hopes for signings completed over the weekend, people accuse him of promising players without knowing if we have in fact signed some players. No player wants to come to Saints, I'm sure some players don't want to join, perhaps Messi and Ronaldo, but to say none of quality want to come here is nonsense and troll mongering speculation. We are only getting loans because Kat is selling, factually incorrect and again more unsubstantiated speculation/trolling. The transfer window isn't closed there's a few weeks left and if there is the doom everyone predicts then fair enough I too will be angry but 4 weeks in football is a long time. Is it any wonder the club choose to stay quiet during negotiations. Football/life isn't straight forward; things get delayed more often than not, particularly complex financial arrangements. We are STILL close, probably even closer than Friday so have a little patience. You don't know that. You have no idea whether or not we are. You choose to focus on the spin from the club and make excuses when it doesn't happen. I prefer to focus on what we're told and whether or not it is delivered. There could be any number of reasons why deals haven't happened, and they either could be in our control or out of our control. I have never complained about a lack of communication from the club regarding transfers but I do choose to listen to what the club say publicly and then see if they can deliver. Right now we are clearly struggling - we've sold most of our best players and the rebuild of the team is clearly not going to plan. You can piece together all manner of information to come to that conclusion. The club have a month to try and patch it up and fix it but as of right now this summer has been a complete balls up. Anyone who thinks differently has got the blinkers on.

I'm not getting caught up in all the spin, I have my own thoughts on where we are currently at. ART Posted 4 August, 2014 Share Posted 4 August, 2014 I really despair at Koeman's quotes and predictions. 9/10 are complete bu ll sh*te. "We're not selling, we're keeping our players, we're getting players signed...." and then the complete opposite. Results on the pitch have been impressive but we will need to improve and have new additions. The Osvaldo deal is in addition to what was supposed to happen and I'm not interested except that that we are rid of Osvaldo. Whether it's a distraction to the rest going on or not I don't know but yet another week begins and no decent signing.
