In total, 70m more than we have with our latest transfers. However, that includes signing on fees and wages, as well as transfer fees. I know that number has been bandied about, but not sure if the fact that it had to pay for everything was known to all. 1 of our incoming transfers is seen as an improving squad player, the other first team. I know it's an open secret anyway, but I said i wouldn't state names. Pointless, if you ask me! And no, they weren't our first choice.

Let's just hope that our latest outgoing doesn't waste too much time adjusting his specs, and we can get these over the line.

Thanks. That sort of thing is reassuring. I really hope we will be able to achieve that over the next few weeks.

Thanks for taking the trouble to post, Guan. At my age you tend to take the longer term view and have the patience to wait until all is revealed. Some of these youngsters want instant answers and gratification.

Definitely the two loans as part of the Osvaldo deal, ok c'est la vie then.

If, as Guan says, the 70mill includes wages then on an average of a 3 year deal at 30k per week our 4 incomings will knock 19mill off the transfer kitty, so we should still have another 50 mill to spend (less agents fees), average of 12mill a player? We can get very decent quality for that.

surely TV money would be involved in cost of wages in future seasons?

if we stay up, that is another £80m

Not quite that much, and not much of an increase over last season which was £55m basic plus £15.6m place money plus £7.5m from 10 live TV screenings. You would assume that some of that place money would go in bonuses.

Am I right in thinking les Reid said something a while back , that when we came to play the game against next weekends German opponents the club would parade all our new signings and not before . Seems he may be keeping his word

Well I hope we have signed all the players we want to sign by next Saturday although the window is still open

Time will tell

Cheers cb. Know we don't always agree but like to think we can have a healthy debate with a bit of sarcasm without resorting to threats of stamping on faces.

You cant handle the truth........!!!

That said it was a hilariously OTT reaction

Doesn't really make it less of an unpleasant thing to say though does it. Debate sure, ignore me if you like but that sort of thing is just unnecessary.

Well done Hyps, I admire your restraint.

As nice as the updates may be, we're still a fair way off having a strong squad to face Liverpool. We've been given positive updates over the last few weeks and nothing has come of it so far.

Well he said back in June he hoped if would be a presentation type game where the fans got to see the new players and greet the manager, I'd imagine he meant more because it was our only preseason home game and a week before the season.

I think he did say that, actually. Way back before anyone left.....he gave the interview outside one of the directors boxes @ SMS iirc.

So, based on the other output from that interview, I'm not quite sure I'll believe him on that point just yet...

Interesting comment by guan

So cryptic . I was almost going blind rereading guans post but then I couldn't find my claises

What I have taken from Guan's comments is that we are only bringing in one loan signing (hopefully Taider) and another player who has only recently been added to our list of targets.

Assuming that Taider falls under the description of improving squad member, then the announcement we make tomorrow will be for a player considered as part of the starting XI.

Also looks like Morgan will be off in January (or maybe sooner) unless we can land a marquee signing and convince him of our ambition. £70m there to spend but inclusive of transfer fee, wages, signing-on fees, agents fees.

Anyone read it differently?

I spoke with Les Reed on Thursday Evening and he said he was finding it difficult to get the deals that we wanted over the line.

Probably not helped that we have received so much money and are in a big need for good players through the door

All largely of our own doing

I wrote off Anfield some time ago. I don't expect results until well into September.

I read it as one of the loans (Osvaldo deal) was for the 1st team and the 2nd one for the squad. Other signings will be signings using our wad.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but on the Celtic forum

It's being rumoured foster out Wanyama in

The bhoys are suffering as bad as us

Here's one comment

"I will be honest when I say our pr department is very good at bigging players up I do believe Forster is a decent keeper but don't class him as irreplaceable Gordon could come good we got zal and the young lad Fasan seems very capable I would cash in on Forster and give that cash to ronny

As for wanyama nah let him rot at Southampton"

Well you might have decided to write the game off,, but we need to start as strongly as possible, even if it just affects goal difference, player confidence. Then we've got two winnable games, that shouldn't be wasted. We've had plenty of time to get this sorted.

That's what I thought, Taider being first team and Scheletto a bench option

Yeah that's how I read it, looks definitely to be the case.

You think West Brom and West Ham are unwinnable games with our present squad?

Ok, that makes sense reading back. I was a little confused about Guan's response to Batman's question about whether the 2 loans were part of the 2-3 players Koeman mentioned. So Schelotto is the one recently added to our list of targets (and therefore not counted in the 2-3 mentioned by Koeman) and presumably the one being brought in as an improving squad player. Taider, on the other hand, is considered first-team material.

Given that Taider & Schelotto are supposed to be being sorted out on Tuesday (according to Italian press), I assume the player we are unveiling tomorrow will have actually commanded a transfer fee.

Not far off it at this precise moment in time.

Why?

Its really not as bad as some make out.

Tadic in for Lallana

Pelle in for Lambert

Bertrand in for Shaw

We will sign a new CB this week (imo) to replace Lovren

Chambers was unlikely to have started anyways.

Well looking at pre-seasons (which isn´t that important for results but for performances) West Ham has managed 8 shots on goal in 6 games from what I´ve read.

And West Brom is in deeper sh*t than us imho.

Just been told by an everton supporting friend that Rodwell is going back there on a season long loan.

Except they´ve just signed Besic and have McCarthy, Barry, Gibson, Osman and Barkley to add to that list of players that can play CM...

I saw some comments that they choose Besic ahead of Rodwell...
