Transfer Rumours Only

Guan called the loan signing the other night, which is more than anyone else on this board offered in terms of ITK knowledge. We know (according to the Italian press) that Taider and Schelotto are booked in for medicals on Tuesday, and Guan has indicated that another will be unveiled tomorrow. That probably represents the 3 that Koeman was talking about. No drama.

I said his stuff is "just noise" - another voice to go along with the press, TV and Radio and social media. Of no greater value.

There's nothing in anything I wrote that carries any expectation that Guan or anyone on this forum is, or needs to be, omniscient.

So nice try, but a pointless come back.

Please, 'come backs' are for children. Just a different perspective - I do hope you can handle that. Reference 'omniscience', you discredit the guy because he didn't know about two specific incidents, ergo, you conclude the rest of his information is trash because he's not aware of *all* the comings and goings. And I trust you'll be referring to his smiley posts as 'noise' when he's confirming incoming transfers in the coming days/weeks, yes?

I am guilty of telling that scoobie fella that I wanted to give him a massive hug until bit's of him stopped working back in the dark days. I meant it but have always wished I hadn't lowered myself.

Think that most can agree that no matter how irritating or offensive we find someone else's opinion about the football club we support, we don't really have to start making unpleasant noises about physical violence. I understand many people including me get tetchy during the summer when there is less to get interested in, but at the end of the day it's a message board to talk about saints not life or death. Generally when I log off from here I tend to forget about football and the few people I have met from here have been friendly people. Would hope that's the case for everyone.

When is the 2 weeks Guan spoke of' date=' in terms of new arrivals, up?[/quote']

Today, but We don't want to announce on a Sunday. As i said on Friday.

Funny to see some of the comments above. Only transfer I haven't known about in last 3-5 years was Chambers because of an oversight. Now I'm unreliable.

If I'm informed of targets in advance of talks and those talks fail, or get dragged out, my info doesn't become 'bad', it means the move hasn't completed in the timescale hoped for.

I forgot how itchy people got during the summer...

Do you think the three in will include those 2 on loan from inter?

what number of targets are we going for

how many players will you try to bring in

are these 2 loans included in the 2-3 players by the weekend

do we actually have any outfield players to come in that are remotely exciting?

are we aiming to even try and spend a sizable amount. IE, the reports in the mail suggesting we are going on a £70m spending spree

You're not, pal. I *believe* in you! ;) In all seriousness, your posts are valued by this here poster.

P.S "tentative information" was basically a contraction of your third paragraph there i.e. 'stuff' doesn't always transpire as expected.

Hypo, can I ask honestly - what is it you want from Southampton?

I remember you being the vocal one on all the anti-cortese threads, but now he's gone, you still seem to be incredibly vocal on anything to do with the board. We lead an unsustainable life under Cortese, no matter how anyone tries to spin it. He was criticised for losing contacts/losing signings.

I'll give you that the new guys aren't exactly digging up any tree's right now, but I'm fairly sure that things will look much better come September in terms of squad. This stage of the transfer window is nutritiously always one of the quietest periods.

I'm not buying the fact that all we'll be doing is exclusively targeting loans, there will be some big signings in and amongst our additions - of that I'm sure, we just have to show a little bit of patience. There's no point in criticising a lack of signings as yet, as there's still time. If come the 1st September, all we have are a couple of loanies and that Socetto bloke (sp) playing regularly, then everyone can meltdown as much as they want.

Based on your knowledge, do you rate the club in terms of converting interest in players to signings?

It appears to me, based on nothing but speculation and gut-feeling, that we are failing. I fully expect to be proved wrong.

To avoid you revealing any hush-hush information, on a scale of 1-10 how excited should we be for Monday's signing? (10 being bouncing-off-the-walls delirium)

Guan - really appreciate your little tidbits: even if they are somewhat cryptic sometimes! I cannot really recall your info being way off: I feel fairly unhappy - not just with the Board but with this sense of entitlement posters on here now seem to have. We've got 90 million, spend it now or I'll throw my toys out of the pram attitude.

I am feeling fairly comfortable that we will have a stronger squad than last season (where once we had 1 or 2 injuries we started to fall apart due to lack of cover) - although it would be nice to get some signings in (and not just loans). Think we are a CB (possibly 2), GK and Striker away from having a stronger squad.

Also love how the Scousers are already on SRL's back: boy had Lallana better watch out!

I tend to give people a chance but then if the people in charge do what they have done this summer, then I tend to lose all Trust in them and question their motives. I really really hope that we get some quality signings in by September but I think the new board have gone about this terribly. I feel they have been creative with the truth this summer. What I hoped these guys would do is combine the ruthless side of cortese with a bit more common sense and a fan friendly side. They have let fans down IMO. You would think by now they would have realised the importance of getting some top signings in to reassure fans and counter the media reports so they have yet to do so. I don't think they know a lot about pr and have brought a lot of this on themselves.

hopefully I'm allowed to say this without being accused of repeating myself!

Perhaps but little doubt it's a sentiment shared by many.

Wanting to stamp on someone's face because you don't like what they write about a football team on a message board is pretty pathetic. Plenty of people wind me up on here but if I met them in real life I'm sure most of them would be relatively normal and we could have a friendly conversation.

But it's not real though is it? It's just a few words, on a screen - you don't (I presume) even know each other's names ... !!

Doesn't really make it less of an unpleasant thing to say though does it. Debate sure, ignore me if you like but that sort of thing is just unnecessary.

So answering as much as i can...

Osvaldo frees up another space, so 5-6 instead of 4-5. Only 1 of the loans is, t'other is a recent addition to targets.

Outfield players - Many of our targets are very exciting. Whether any will come is another matter. Same goes for money spent. Everybody at the club knows how soon the season starts, but do not want to spend money for the sake of it.

Separate from the above, is my personal opinion that unless we can make a marquee signing soon (and Vlarr doens't count IMO), we will have to get as high as possible, and hope to improve before Morgan goes (as long as he hasn't made it impossible to stay before the season begins).

so, 4-5 players in addition to Taider.

IMO, that could be

GK

CB

Wide Player

Striker

and maybe another defender

seems vlaar is definitely a target then

I can only think of one Loan player who was a success a Saints and that was a long time ago , I dont want the board to spend 90 million in two weeks but I would prefer we bought quality in the positions we need players . We dont need midfielders , we need two CBs a back up Goalkeeper and badly need some backup for Pelle , if he gets injured we have nothing as backup .

Two weeks till the start of the season !

I posted Guans from Friday again earlier to day in response to another posters question

He made it quite clear there would be no announcement until Monday unless the press got hold if it .

They haven't got wind off whoever and I'm pretty sure Guan isn't referring any deal associated with the osvaldos loan deal

Keep the faith . :)

Ur ok hypo don't be intimidated by the face-stampers!

Does anyone think the board have a Plan or do we think they're making it up as they go along? Sometimes I can believe this window is about Kat's Machivellian schemes to monetise investment & sell club, other times I think it's just normal Every Player Has A Price taken to logical & extreme conclusion.

Koeman has indicated he wants to play 4-3-3 but with all the links to midfield players he could be playing 3-6-1. Surely the priority is CB, and having lost a player valued at £20m, logically, a similar spend would be needed for a like-for-like replacement. Koeman indicated that he tried to persuade Lovren to stay, so there should be no reason why the unwanted fee is not fully invested in the replacement. Can I see the club breaking its transfer record on a CB? Unlikely I'd say. Two for the price of one could be a possibiity in which case neither would be as good as what we have lost. If there is a CB available who is as good as Lovren but for less money, surely Liverpool would have gone for him instead. In the meantime, I can't see why most of the rumours seem to be focused on midfield.

Yeah Guan any idea how much we are looking to spend? Also do we view these two from inter as backups for the squad? Were they our first choice?

In total, 70m more than we have with our latest transfers. However, that includes signing on fees and wages, as well as transfer fees. I know that number has been bandied about, but not sure if the fact that it had to pay for everything was known to all. 1 of our incoming transfers is seen as an improving squad player, the other first team. I know it's an open secret anyway, but I said i wouldn't state names. Pointless, if you ask me! And no, they weren't our first choice.

Let's just hope that our latest outgoing doesn't waste too much time adjusting his specs, and we can get these over the line.
