Wow. We are really replacing our players well :(

He may be god/good (??) average but if he's not replacing, then surely he is bringing in new skills to the team? Is that not good, especially as he is on loan?

Perhaps he's replacing Guly as the 'option off the bench' and regular scapegoat.

Is anyone else worried about our defence? I am.

Yes and no. The first choice back 4 of Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida and Bertrand are OK, but the squad in that area is now remarkably thin. No RB cover, and inexperienced Targett at left back and really only Jos at CB.

He is taking up a place in the squad. He is going to cost us money. With the brash statement from Ralph and the money we have received

I honestly thought we would be getting in better better players than this. Far better players. Guess not

I know where you're coming from Bruce. If it gets to Wednesday and we haven't brought in some real quality, I'll start to worry then.

The fact Yoshida is in the starting line up is evidence of how weak we are in this area, and no doubt this would impact on Fonte who improved immensely with a better CB partnership. As you say the back up options are "thin" (to the point of non existant).

Just hope we bring in someone capable / and experienced for the CB, but again leaving it late and perhaps on to options B,C, or D by now. 34 year old cast offs from Inter - bought outright or on loan - do not fill me with confidence.

.@GalgoSchelotto has just started following @SouthamptonFC, think I can now say Welcome To Southampton! #Saintsfc

Agent says maybe, might see tomorrow, might not...nothing definite at all as of yet. Who cares, we don't need Inter's cast offs anyway.

I see people going mad once again because some posters have dared to suggest that more signings are generally underwhelming. Pretty standard on here.

Frankly I find it difficult to believe some posters would not find any signing underwhelming. Young English talent (Redmond, Ings), up and coming European talent, England squad goalkeepers, top Eridivisie players, CL winners, players good enough for ManU and Inter Milan, all have been slated on here.

Imagine how they feel getting Southampton's cast offs.

They've only got to put up with 1 though:rolleyes:, and he's half decent if he puts his mind to it, this Scheletto sounds like a right old pile of crap tbh. Taider...well we'll see, should be alright

but it's not really an area we're particularly short on.

Rumours of Jack Rodwell, loan with option at £10m

Seems our board have learnt well after dealing with Italian clubs (example in the case of osvaldo)

Promise what ever for tomorrow. When the tomorrow comes you just bin the original agreement and start negotiations again from scratch.

None of which we have actually signed, even

Actual players we have signed? I think the broad consensus is that Tadic was a good signing and the pelle has potential but could go either way. Bertrand split opinion and these other two we have been linked with seem rather average. IMO other than Tadic we aren't seeing anything to suggest we are going to be anywhere near what we did last year, despite the pretty words from Les and Ralph. If that makes me a bedwetter then so be it

Rumours of Jack Rodwell, loan with option at £10m

Id take him for sure, in fact you could build a very very good side with the top sides fringe players. United have 3 or 4 that id take/ love, so do man city. Chelsea have tons of talent kicking about, although they do seem better at loaning them out.

Even liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs have a few fringe players that we could / should look at

Absolutely. Different teams require different players, and a fringe player who doesn't get a look in at a bigger club might be perfect for Southampton. Despite his injury issues Rodwell might turn out to be an excellent investment for Saints both long and short term.

Your post was about some peoples reaction to players we've been linked with.

No accusation of bed wetting.

Serious question: can a team be better than its constituent parts?

Has Guan said if he's going to post a Sunday update? Bedwetters getting me down on here, so could do with some good news to shut them up!

Guans words were

Not releasing info anymore, Guan said the transfer dept shall now be the penetralia of the club.

A couple of days back, I told people to keep their eyes peeled for a late in the day Loan (RB).

I've been told (roughly 10 mins that are trying to complete a move for today, but it may have to wait until Monday. Only announcing on sat/sun if the press or twitter get wind of it.

Of course it can but let's not try and pretend that the reason we are bringing in worse players is because we feel we can produce a better team. At the moment all signs point to the owner wanting as much money as she can get.

All 3 players we've signed come from the list Faz mentioned. I'm sure players we sign also will. I still have faith in the club signing players, and ultimately they'll be the ones Koeman wants and needs, my gripe is that we're waiting a long time to make them, and time is running out. I understand you can't just click your fingers to get a player to sign, but time is of the essence.

We have a decent team still, we just need to strengthen it as best as possible. Important week ahead.

Agree with this totally.

Anyone scoffing at Zaha, Young, Hernandez, Rodwell, Bertrand etc etc etc really does need a head check. Probably the same people that believed the Champions League guff.

Yes, it's not very clear, is it? FA regulations appear to limit long-term loans (over 93 days) to a maximum of four from UK leagues, no more than 2 from any one club. Section 6.6.3:

More likely simplifying the club structure to make it cleaner for a new owner. Selling academy products at high prices might be to entice a buyer with proof of the academy's value.

Well I certainly never believed in the Champions League rubbish, but I'm not a fan of us buying up the rejects from bigger clubs. One or two is fine, but in terms of motivation, value in wages and in some cases actual ability, it would raise questions.

I wouldn't scoff at Hernandez for sure, trouble is he scoffed at us very recently and will no doubt do so again.

Interesting odds here on where players will end up. According to this we're favourites to sign Clasie, third favourites to sign Benteke and third favourites for Hernandez.

Just bored, is all.

Also favourites to sign Leroy Fer then, See the bookies took a lot of notice of Krueger with Morgan 8 to 1 on to sign for Spurs. You could still get better odds on us signing Koeman after KBilly told us it was happening.

Indeed. No idea if this is true of course, but I would argue it is more likely than us trying to create a stronger team than last season at the moment.

We certainly need depth of squad. It cost us dear last season.

Sorry if this has already been posted, just read that we are linked with Jack Rodwell in the Daily Mail, does appear that we are being linked with some quality players at the moment, just hope some come to fruition.

Although basically we have no real idea of what Rodwell's current level actually is fokker never plays apart from the odd run out in the cup.

Pellegrino is like José, no time for Englishmen..except Joe Hart and then some. He's at Citeh to win, that means no shambolic silly english lads getting p*ssed up on the eve of matches I expect.

Lots of reports on Twitter that Forster will be announced tonight.

Ok, weird one for me. Was expecting that one thursday/friday after their second leg of CL qualifier....(I think that deal is done but that they would wait to announce it then)
