I reckon we'll end up seeing Rojo and Virgil. Think Vlaar, for his age, will end up being a little too expensive. Virgil will be the same price/a little cheaper and has 4-5 years on Vlaar. (potentially his international replacement too). I wouldn't expect the club to go for Vlaar if they feel they can get those two.

If we do end up with Vlaar, it won't be too bad, but will end up being at the end of the window and have scary comparisons with the rushed through Wayne Thomas deal.

I wouldn't be disappointed with that but I don't think you should disregard Vlaar's premiership experience - especially in such a critical position. Despite his age I think we may end up with a few/lot of players with no PM experience which worries me.

The advantage with Vlaar is that he is a proven leader and potential skipper.

I tend to agree that Van Dijk makes more sense and has all the potential but I can understand us being keen on Concrete Ron who I rated better than Lovren anyway.

I think Jack Rodwell & Scott Sinclair would be good options, look to kick-start their careers, they obviously have the talent and they could speak to the younger/academy players and explain that a "dream" big money move to a big 4 isn't always the best move career move especially internationally wise and its better to be playing consistently than sat on a bench and only starting games against Degenham in the cup, like what is about to happen to Chambers.

Koeman knows Guidetti so that may not be a bad move either, surely a better back up option that Sharp (awaits the abuse) and Mayuka.

I'd take Rodwell, although stay well clear of Sinclair and Guidetti - both damaged goods.

Did you see Sinclairs impact at WBA last year? Their fans say he was the worst player they've seen down there in a while. And Guidetti hasn't played for ages since having a virus which effected the nerves in his legs.

Rodwell, not bad, the other 2 - stay the **** away!

I would say a hurry up from Celtic to our board. I assume we haven't 100% confirmed as we're looking at Rojo as well as a CB/LB.

I would say it means Swansea and Sunderland also want him. No reason Celtic would be keen to sell to us rather than them and at the moment they are the ones with firm proposals on the table.

Poyet nearly signed him for Brighton at the time he went to Celtic and has rated him for ages.

Maybe the fee is too high for us?

Sinclair, i'm unsure about given his poor time at WBA. Still youngish and was very good at swansea. Maybe at the right price and right wage.

Rodwell. We simply don't need him at the moment imo. If we really aren't selling Morgan and not crazily letting Cork go that is.

Guidetti, no thanks

I personally expect and believe we will sell one of Cork, Morgan or JWP by the end of the window.

Hope you are wrong, Selling JWP would be worse than Chambers in stupidity, selling Morgan would show board to be liars and it would be open season on rest of first xi sales. I'd be gutted at Cork leaving for what would be peanuts for which we'd then have to shell out millions to try and replace him.

Did I read somewhere that there is a St Mary's board meeting today? If I was Kat I would be saying: "Can we please get one, just one m*****f**king purchase over the line!"

Kat ''Well done Ralf, you appeased the fans for what was 30 minutes. That's more than we've had for months, so we are grateful for that. So, has Morgan kicked up a fuss and thrown a rant?''

Reed ''Yes, he has.''

Kat ''Excellent. Ok, so where are we with the bids? Les, if you want to re-open talks with Tottenham and we can get this one done. This is why I hired you Ralf, you have used your skills to allow us to make this transfer and avoid the backlash we were going to get''

Ralf 'Not a problem, I'm glad I can serve this Southampton FC. I had many opportunities to go back into High level coac...''

Kat 'Ok Ralf, you've told me that. Reed - Apparently we need to bring in some players? Why? We only need 11 to start the season don't we? I counted a squad of 20 just now.

Reed 'But the players aren't very good, we will probably end up getting relegated and end up in the Championship.'

Kat 'But would it cost me less if we were to end up there?''

Reed 'Probably, yes. But incomes full massively Kat.'

Kat 'I've just secured my income for the next 3 years, I don't really care about that. Have you seen Nicola Cortese's corridor? I cannot move for the money, it's amazing. If we can go down to the Championship and it's cheaper for me to run the club, then this is our vision. Reed - put this into plan, we need to get to the Championship.

Reed ''Umm, OK. I'll do my best.'

Ralf ''Did I tell anyone that I wrote a book once? I was also a hocky coa........''

Chirchies (sp) may be on his way with Holtby I've heard.

Fantastic CB, cost them £15m last year. None of their buys last year were much cop. (Down to management more than anything)

If I was Spurs, I'd have kept him and shipped out Kaboul who I think is crap.

But if we do Vlad, then that's a great start. Left sided as well, so a like for like with Lovren.

What's his injury situation? Was under the impression he was a bit of a sick-note?

Just a little perspective, where exactly are we compared with the team that finished last season, Who have we lost. Lambert replaced by Pelle, Lallana replaced by Tadic, Shaw, Lovren, Chambers. Chambers was close to Clyne but a backup nonetheless. So we have left back and centre back still to be replaced hardly a meltdown. If we bring in 5/6 good players including a top class goalkeeper we will have a better squad than last year That doesn't look impossible to do especially if we bring in good footballers who know the game.

It's the morale, sense of togetherness and understanding of each other games that we have lost. That is far more important than people seem to think.

Was the togetherness and morale as strong as we were led to believe afterall? Seems now that we were like any other team in that department. The understanding between players I agree will be difficult to lose though.

The togetherness was seemingly very strong, seeing as 1 of the lads going has created a bit of a domino effect. They were all in it together, and still are by the looks of it.

One player leaving hasn't created a domino effect. How is pushing for multi-million £ moves to CL clubs being "all in it together"?

They all want to leave, so indicates that they were all in this together and all want out together. And Spurs aren't a CL club.

I do remember Lallana stating in an interview that the players had a pact about not being the first one to break up the group. Who knows what he meant by that and what the implications were.

Well whichever one started it clearly wasn't 'all in it together'. Being all in it together to me would've meant they all stay, not that they all go their separate ways.

I have a feeling we will get Marshall as Celtic seem keen to hold on to Forster a bit longer. Cardiff maybe be complicating matters by holding out to get Fonte as part of the deal for Marshall

That'll mean we need yet another CB.

With Craig Gordon at Celtic it looks like they'll be selling Forster at some point before the end of the transfer window. I'm sure we can wait.

I'd rather we spent £9m on Forster than £6m on Marshall.

Not sure how reliable Forza Italia is but seen it pop up a couple of times on NewsNow.

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2014/07/southampton-and-west-bromwich-albion-vying-for-signature-of-parma-star/?

Agent bolloaks at work here again, he's crap, been loaned out more times than a good many library books. French lad, never fulfilled his potential.

The Daily Star has jumped on the bandwagon too now. We can now defiantly agree it is bolloaks.

I don't know why people think the players thought too hard about these moves. Their agents were tapped, the ridiculous money was put forward, the players grabbed at it with both hands. Schneiderlin and Rodriguez know what's on offer and they want their lottery win too. We should play the same game, up front no deal, name a ridiculous fee for both or nothing doing and unload them.

Spurs aren't, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd are. How a player choosing to play for one of them is construed as being "in it together" I'm not sure.
