Baird of the land Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Naughton, Rose and Holtby Rose and holtby would be great signings.
Batman Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 I also heard part of the deal of Liverpool buying lovren was for them to pull out of the remy deal . I personally can't see this would happen but you never know with Liverpool We won't be getting remy He wants £80k a week or something Whilst we are offering "derisory" bids for players
angelman Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 I also heard part of the deal of Liverpool buying lovren was for them to pull out of the remy deal . I personally can't see this would happen but you never know with Liverpool LOL. When that happened, that was one of the things that crossed my mind.
pangy Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 We won't be getting remy He wants £80k a week or something Whilst we are offering "derisory" bids for players pity really considering we are paying osvaldo close to that and he was cap
S-Clarke Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 pity really considering we are paying osvaldo close to that and he was cap We're not paying him close to that. He is on 45-50k + benefits.
shurlock Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 As well as Forster and Van Djik, the Molina article (other thread) says we've also been tracking Celtic's left back, Emilio Izaguirre for several months, though no bid is anticipated. The priority, it appears, is Jetrol Willem PSV's left back. We've also met one of Papy Djilobodji's representatives recently (Nantes CB), though nothing immediate is in the pipeline. Hardly names to get the pulses racing.
shirleysfc Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 I also heard part of the deal of Liverpool buying lovren was for them to pull out of the remy deal . I personally can't see this would happen but you never know with Liverpool Remy's going back to Newcastle
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 I wouldn't kid yourself we wouldn't pay remys wages. Do you know what osvaldo was on? Remy didn't fail a medical fact. He only come available after negotiations with Liverpool over lovren escalated.
hypochondriac Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 As well as Forster and Van Djik, the Molina article (other thread) says we've also been tracking Celtic's left back, Emilio Izaguirre for several months, though no bid is anticipated. JxgrSaint Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 At least if we sell everyone there's no wage structure to break with Remy's wages! Don't panic, all will be well...
shurlock Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Just any players now that can get us to 17th will do. Willems might be a good shout, though another Eredivisie risk. Missed the WC through injury.
shirleysfc Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Just any players now that can get us to 17th will do. This is pretty much what I'm thinking as well.
Chez Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 I wouldn't kid yourself we wouldn't pay remys wages. Do you know what osvaldo was on?. Is on, not was.
Baird of the land Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Just any players now that can get us to 17th will do. Great panic buys we'll struggle to get rid of in the championship.
shirleysfc Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Great panic buys we'll struggle to get rid of in the championship. 17th keeps us up HTH
Chez Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Hope so What about £15m on Remy, wages might be a bit high but would change the mood of fans, plus he is proven at this level Isn't he available for £8.5m? Why pay twice the going rate?
S-Clarke Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Isn't he available for £8.5m? Why pay twice the going rate? I believe the £8.5m clause is triggered ONLY if a CL club bids.
Chez Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Rose and holtby would be great signings. Like Rose a lot,but isn't he first choice for spurs?
S-Clarke Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Like Rose a lot,but isn't he first choice for spurs? Surely that'll be Ben Davies now?
Saint Charlie Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Why are people talking as if Remy moving here is even a tiny bit possible? He might as well stay at QPR.
Chez Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 I believe the £8.5m clause is triggered ONLY if a CL club bids. I suspect qpr will sell him to anyone for that as they know how injury prone he is.
Chez Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Surely that'll be Ben Davies now? Good point. The worry is we have relegation written all over us so will players sign for us now?
shirleysfc Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Good point. The worry is we have relegation written all over us so will players sign for us now? Yes, wages and relegation clauses
Stud mark of doom Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 I believe the £8.5m clause is triggered ONLY if a CL club bids. Sorry, been away for a couple of weeks. Isn't that what our target anymore?
Baird of the land Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Sorry, been away for a couple of weeks. Isn't that what our target anymore? Not unless cl stands for championship league.
St Chalet Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Was on Knowing the madness of our board we've probably given him a pay rise.
hypochondriac Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Great panic buys we'll struggle to get rid of in the championship. Won't be in the championship if we finish is 17th.
S-Clarke Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Swansea, Queens Park Rangers, Crystal Palace and WBA all interested in midfielder Saints boss Ronald Koeman still to decide on offering 25-year-old a new contract as well as Jose Fonte A whole host of Barclays Premier League clubs are pursuing Southampton's Jack Cork, with just a year left to run on his contract. But other top flight clubs are monitoring the situation of Cork in anticipation of a move. Koeman is keen to spend longer looking at Cork and Fonte and said last week: 'It's a little bit too fast to have any kind of opinion. I need more time. 'But they are important players and, as always, if they will come in the last season of a contract, you have to do something at the club, and we will talk about that and we will make decisions about that. But it's a little bit too early now.' Cork joined Southampton from Chelsea in 2011 and has been an ever-present in the centre of midfield during the past three seasons, helping them to promotion from the Championship in his debut campaign. Last season Cork made 33 appearances for the club as they finished eighth in the Premier League. If we start losing our decent players to **** like that, then I've had it.
Baird of the land Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 If we start losing our decent players to **** like that, then I've had it. Yep my hopes have lowered to just re-signing cork, given how bad things are.
Golden Balls Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 @Rebecca_L_Coles: #saintsfc Ronald Koeman is hoping to sign 19-year-old midfielder Serge Gnabry and 22-year-old full-back Carl Jenkinson from Arsenal #AFC
hypochondriac Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 @Rebecca_L_Coles: #saintsfc Ronald Koeman is hoping to sign 19-year-old midfielder Serge Gnabry and 22-year-old full-back Carl Jenkinson from Arsenal #AFC ... On loan
S-Clarke Posted 28 July, 2014 Posted 28 July, 2014 Loans are pretty disappointing, given the money we have brought in - but if there is an opportunity to sign Gnabry, whatever the situation, we should jump at it. Very, very good player.
Lorne Malvo Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 @Rebecca_L_Coles: #saintsfc Ronald Koeman is hoping to sign 19-year-old midfielder Serge Gnabry and 22-year-old full-back Carl Jenkinson from Arsenal #AFC Good bid of business just to get through this season, Jenkinson is just a good as Chambers at the moment as a backup for when Clyne gets injured/suspended.
Batman Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 Good bid of business just to get through this season, Jenkinson is just a good as Chambers at the moment as a backup for when Clyne gets injured/suspended. Jenkinson is not as good as chambers Stop pretending he is I am amazed people are justifying all these sales
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 Jenkinson is not as good as chambers Stop pretending he is I am amazed people are justifying all these sales I don't think they're justifying them, but Jenkinson will be fine as a back up. I don't think we'd lose anything by getting him in as long as Clyne is first choice.
syd_barrett_saint Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 ... On loan Isn't it the case that you can only loan one player from a club at a time though? Gnabry would be a hell of a lot more useful than Jenkinson (assuming we hold onto Clyne)
CB Saint Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 Buy, loan, hire purchase, on the never never, I really don't give a stuff how we get them in at the moment. Loans buy us time that we are beginning to run out.
stevy777_x Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 Who cares if it is only loans. We can't keep players for more than 1 year now. So let s just bring them in.
Baird of the land Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 Both Gnabry and Jenkinson are highly mediocre. We shouldn't be wasting our time with loans for them.
Greenridge Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 Seems and Jenkinson is destined for West Ham anyway.
Saint Charlie Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 QPR going for Fer. We have ****ed up this window in a way people didnt even think was possible. Absolutely ludicrous.
Kingsland Red Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 Chadli ? I dont understand the text but the title is obvious ! http://www.walfoot.be/fra/news/lis/2014-07-29/chadli--southampton
Faz Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 QPR going for Fer. We have ****ed up this window in a way people didnt even think was possible. Absolutely ludicrous. why would we have ever been after Fer?
modern matron Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 I don't think they're justifying them, but Jenkinson will be fine as a back up. I don't think we'd lose anything by getting him in as long as Clyne is first choice. Quite concerned that he might be Clyne's replacement never mind back up!
Granadino Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 Chadli ? I dont understand the text but the title is obvious ! http://www.walfoot.be/fra/news/lis/2014-07-29/chadli--southampton Says that according to UK press (not seen it anywhere myself) that Chadli could be used as a make-weight in the MS + JR deal. Says apparently Poch isn't keen on Chadli, though also says there is no evidence that we are interested in him either, so I think a case of 2 + 2 = 5...
Saint Charlie Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 why would we have ever been after Fer? We have been linked to him. My statement about the window was unrelated to that though.
del boy Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 No Forster coming http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2708897/Fraser-Forster-not-sold-Southampton-Celtic-settle-Champions-League-fate.html "The Saints are looking to continue their policy of buying British..." ??
CB Saint Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 Both Gnabry and Jenkinson are highly mediocre. We shouldn't be wasting our time with loans for them. Most Gooners i talk to would disagree with you on Gnabry
Window Cleaner Posted 29 July, 2014 Posted 29 July, 2014 Chadli ? I dont understand the text but the title is obvious ! http://www.walfoot.be/fra/news/lis/2014-07-29/chadli--southampton It's just press speculation. Says MP wants Morgan and JRod and doesn't seem to be interested in Chadli at all so they make a 2+2=? argument.
