Transfer Rumours Only

I imagine Les Reeds middle name is 'Incompetent' - it's certainly looked that way this summer

For all the talk of keeping our manager and not selling our best players that's exactly what we've done. Then we talked about selling our players for premium prices and bringing in better players and adding strength in depth. So far it seems all we've done is replace the players we've sold for lesser players - not added any strength in depth. Apart from Forster but it now looks like Boruc wants out.

And what's the point in getting premium prices for our players if you're going to spend £12 million on Shane Long and possibly another £12 million or more on Andros Townsend.

So far we've spent £21 million on a strike force that looks like it will struggle to get 15 goals between them. At 27 and 29 that's not money we are going to get back again.

As it is we desperately a good striker and a goal scoring right winger to have a chance of competing this season.

Unless something changes dramatically it's going to a long, hard and depressing season. Our only saving grace might be that Crystal Palace, QPR and Burnley are actually worse than we are.

I know it is early days but it does make you think if spending £21m plus say £90k a week on wages for two average players would have been better invested in one reliable goal scorer.

I really like him, he'd make a cracking utility/competition signing. Depth problems at centre back and right back sorted in one go and would give Clyne a real run for his money.

Where'd you get it from?

Can't see Joel Ward signing for us. Good player, but a proper Skate, think he's from the cesspit. Would be great if we could get him, the Skates fans would be fairly gutted, I reckon.

Sorry but where did it say we were going to keep our manager and our best players? We had no choice over the manager leaving and a number of our best players wanted out. Keep up.

A Spurs ITK on their interest in our players (not good)...

J-Rod

I know there has been ITK from others saying he is not for this window, but I have been very reliably informed that Poch is pushing for him now. His rehab has gone very very well(as I have been posting) and it is believed that he will be back playing properly in the next 3-4 weeks. With his contract length and his refusal to sign a new deal he could well be available now, and Poch does want him, and his versatility is a big plus to being able to reduce the squad.

MS

I can't go into too much detail but I heard something that makes me far more optomistic about us getting him than say others that are getting their info from inside of Spurs. He has NOT accepted he is staying there and is STILL pushing for the move he was promised. His tweet slagging the club is STILL on his oficial twitter timeline and his people are looking into certain aspects of his contract that may have been broken by the club, and I can't say much more than that, other than it may be best for everyone to let him go.

Probably as useless as our ITKs.

Remember the "give me a week, no actually give me two weeks" nonsense that Guan was coming out with, plus the big/exciting players we were going to sign just you wait and see etc etc.

Everything in that Spurs post anyone could infer from info in the public domain, much like everything the likes of Guan has said this summer, so don't worry about it.

Looks like this Spurs (supposed) ITK, gets info from his agent (working for a big agency) friend & not a club source. Looks like all his previous ITK is from a agent perspective. Rereading, he seems to to know the inner working.

But anyway lots of salt required.

Yep, absolutely.

The idea that Morgan is still pushing for a move is something I have come to without being an ITK. Still possible he could be bundled off in a deadline day deal. Still possible he could stay because the club are going to see this stance through come what may.

Both those outcomes are possible and there is nothing any ITK from any party can say that will change anything now. All the speculation has been speculated and this is just rebundling the same speculation.

Thanks for posting though!

Yeah, it's hardly surprising that Morgan's agent is still pushing for a move, what that Spurs fan has said is not really earth shattering stuff.

Simon Peach just retweeted this

@HLNinEngeland: Southampton have contacted Atlético Madrid about Toby Alderweireld, who wants to move to the Pr. League. Also Monaco are interested #saints

Sounds plausible. At worst, solid cover in two positions. Not sure he'd get much more game time here than there, though.

Be a first for me. Saints signing a player from a European club I've actually heard of. 6m seems like a bargain as well. says to me 3 things, either Koemans decided that Gardos isn't good enough, given up on Ron Vlaar or he's going to play 3 at the back.

Surely you can't be serious....

He hasn't played a match yet! Koeman signed him for goodness sake.

If it is indeed information obtained via an agent, then it is hardly untainted by an agenda of self-interest on behalf of the agent, is it? It wouldn't surprise me at all that agents give the pot a good stir when the situation begins to calm down, with some chinese whispers to destabilise matters.

But even putting that possibility aside, the fact remains that Spurs' offer is way below the level we value him at. Currently they are about £10 million adrift. Krueger's position would be untenable if he let him go, let alone for an amount so adrift of our stated valuation of him.

I think it's that he's realised Jos and Yoshida aren't good enough. Have always felt that we'd get 2 CB's, not sure this is based on anything other than a random twitter rumour though.

Apparently a Merc with a number plate V4 LAR was spotted on Marchwood bypass yesterday.

Wouldn't get much game time? A lot better than Yoshi? difficult to say on Gardos, but this is a very talented footballer, played every minute for Belgium in the WC, chips in with the odd goal as well?

I think he is referring to the comments made by Saints Legend Rickie Lambert, who said the Great Escape or Mass Exodus didn't have to happen and it could have been different.

Yes, it didn't need to happen. Cortese could have been a bit more accepting that the owner ought to be allowed some say in the matter of him spending her money and stayed. Pochettino could also have stayed instead of leaving for a bigger club for more money and at least he could have been a lot more honest and not messed us about before he left, by pretending that he would sign a renewed contract at the season's end. Equally all of the players could have turned down the opportunity to play for the glory clubs that they are at now, earning 3 or 4 times what they earned here.

Ironic that this comes from Lambert, who was the only one who might have been happy to stay for honourable reasons, but who was allowed to leave only because it was his boyhood club that wanted him and we allowed a bit of sentiment to influence our decision on his move

Exactly. As much as I respect RL, his comments just aren't credible in this context. There is no way on earth he was turning down Liverpool once they came calling and (despite what he might say in hindsight) would have been furious had we stood in his way.

I said he wouldn't get much more than he is getting at AM, not that he wouldn't get much. And not sure why you've brought Yoshida into it.

Wil only get Clasie if Schneiderlin went and they are quite different players. Of course Morgan still wants to go. You wouldnt change your mind by just having a weekend off.

Seeing how Spurs are playing probably makes him more determined. Our midfield had no shape on Saturday, Morgan was still trying to press but the others didnt.

Crikey busy morning on the transfer front it seems.

I see The Sun is saying Koeman might reignite our interest in Nathan Redmond.

Alderweireld is a HCDAJFU mainstay over the past 2 or 3 years. That's exactly the type of player I'd love us to sign - Centre-back who can also cover Clyne.

The Clasie link is interesting - I thought he was all set for Porto. The Spurs whispers about Morgan still concern me.

I thought Yoshida was pretty good yesterday.

Ideally, we sign a player who is decent at RB or CB and then that's the defence sorted with decent depth in all positions.

All we really need then is an attacking player who can carry the ball at pace.

Not too fussed if Morgan leaves. Wanyama is really growing into an exceptional player and if Morgan moves on it'll give JWP and Taider a chance to develop in a more natural position than being shoe-horned into a top-of-the-triangle/wide role.

MS wants out. He's still here. How do you square that?

a number of possibilities

a) the leavers all signed contracts the summer after MS signed his. Contract clauses?

b) The others predominantly went for prices which looked high at the time. Nobody is offering a high price for Schneiderlin (obviously the chambers transfer leaves this open to debate)

c) The others leaving gave us enough capital to replace the leavers and hold on to MS even if it meant him kicking about in the reserves.

d) MS was identified as having a weaker resolve to leave than the others.

Funny how people see thing differently I saw Big Vic putting himself about trying to close stuff down and holding midfield together while Morgan seemed far less intense than last season with very negative body language
