Whitey Grandad Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 Nice bit of casual racism there... Is being European a race now?
ratio_decidendi Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 Is being European a race now? A race can be defined as "a group of people united or classified together on the basis of common history, nationality, or geographic distribution". Not sure why you're calling me out on this by the way.
Killers Knee Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 Maybe they'll film Immigration Street at St Marys and Staplewood instead of Derby Rd?
krissyboy31 Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 What time is kick-off? I was presuming it was 3 but obviously not!

Not sure why you're calling me out on this by the way. Just checking. That definition applies to anybody and everybody in the world so if you go looking for racism you'll find it everywhere.
Whitey Grandad Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 What time is kick-off? I was presuming it was 3 but obviously not! No, 5 o'clock for some reason.
ratio_decidendi Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 Just checking. That definition applies to anybody and everybody in the world so if you go looking for racism you'll find it everywhere. Well of course. Describing our squad as an "illegal European immigrant team" is as racist as describing them as an illegal African or Pakistani immigrant team. It's abhorrent to substantially criticise something on the basis of their race.
Coxford_lou Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 So who's going tomorrow? How competitive do you think the game will be? I'm semi tempted to make the trip down from London (because unlike you losers, I'm actually quote excited about this new team but not worth it if it's going to be a bit flat.........
Cascadia Saint Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 Last year only 10,000 turned up at St Mary's for the final big pre season game. Hope tomorrow we have half that number to send out a strong message the supporters aren't fools and expect the club pull their finger out. The squad is beginning to look like the remnants of an illegal European immigrant team. Christ, you post some utter tosh these days. You have officially transitioned to clueless old sod to vile miserable idiot.

Sour Mash Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 A race can be defined as "a group of people united or classified together on the basis of common history, nationality, or geographic distribution". Can easily refer to people from Portsmouth on that basis!
Saints foreva Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC With almost 14,000 tickets sold, extra blocks will open for tomorrow’s friendly with @bayer04fussball and #SaintsFC fans can buy on the day.

Matthew Le God Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 (edited) I'll be surprised if it's over 10k. Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC With almost 14,000 tickets sold, extra blocks will open for tomorrow’s friendly with @bayer04fussball and #SaintsFC fans can buy on the day. Goes to show what sensible friendly ticket prices can do. With a decent walk-up on the day it should be a very healthy crowd. Edited 8 August, 2014 by Matthew Le God
The Cat Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 Quality turnout. COYS!!!!!!!!!! Mad ART won't be happy.
S-Clarke Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 If the price is right, the fans will come. Good pricing this year.
ratio_decidendi Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 Can easily refer to people from Portsmouth on that basis! The operative word there is people so I'm not so sure
Sour Mash Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 Quality turnout. COYS!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, excellent that, I reckon there'll be a fair walk up crowd, good attendance that, got the return from the right prices.
saint lard Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 I might just give it a whirl.....undecided thus far. Rarely get a weekend free....means I have to get the train from Portsmouth Harbour....so can't wear my shirt. 5pm kick off is crap. Meh....bollix...I'm in.

Rarely get a weekend free....means I have to get the train from Portsmouth Harbour....so can't wear my shirt. 5pm kick off is crap. Meh....bollix...I'm in. Rah! I shall be there; unfortunately I'll have to meet my friends in the pub beforehand to pick up my ticket, but we all have to make sacrifices.. Could be a good walk up with the weather looking set fair: it makes a big difference to the atmosphere having a decent crowd, and put's Brighton's to shame.

Goatboy Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 Mad ART won't be happy. ART will be happy. He is a Saints fan. And he lives in ART world. Our parameters are irrelevant.
JRM Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 Pleased to see healthy ticket sales, and with good weather and prices I reckon there will be a big walk up taking us towards 18k. Word of warning for anyone on the train, the skates are away to Exeter with over 1000 travelling. Our late kick off means they'll be passing back through Southampton central about an hour after our game finishes. (I remember that happening before when we played Man City on a Saturday evening)

JRM Posted 8 August, 2014 Posted 8 August, 2014 lol Having googled it they have over 1600 going, enough to have a fair number on the train through Southampton anyway
suewhistle Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 As I normally get the train to Saints matches from the Brighton direction I often come across Pompey fans on the way home after their matches in Bath or Forest Green or whatever obscure place they've been to. For some reason they always seem fatter than the equivalent Saints fans I see on the train on the way to St. Marys. Maybe it's the cans of lager..
ART Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 (edited) SPECIAL OFFER: 32 Euros or BUY 2 get one FREE for 64 euros Definition: An "illegal European immigrant " is what American define as Europeans who live in the States illegally. It has nothing to do with racism or sectorism. I guess those ill informed posters who spout their venom have never heard of Sting. Edited 9 August, 2014 by ART

igsey Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 U21s beating QPR 2-1 at the moment... can someone explain this to me? Billy Sharp scored the first goal - he's 28. Gazzaniga's in goal - 22. I assume I've missed some rule about a certain number of over 21s being allowed to play?
Saintandy666 Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 Billy Sharp makes it 3-1 Saints in our U21's/Development?!?! squad. Wonder what he will do this year. Seems to be a hard working decent player and person, but there isn't a place for him on our team with our current placing and trajectory. Hope he gets a move.

RedWillie Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 Hmmm, nice sunny day. Footie with a hunch of alsorts making multiple subs or crabbing with the kids and a beer down mudeford quay. Crabbing wins it then.

I assume I've missed some rule about a certain number of over 21s being allowed to play? Can have three players over the age of 21 as it is a replacement for the old ressie leagues - so expect to see fringe players short of game time or those recovering from long-term injury in need of match fitness. Not sure if the designated three includes keepers ... where is MLG when you need him?
RedWillie Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 On another note Antonio just put Forest one up...

I assume I've missed some rule about a certain number of over 21s being allowed to play? In the under 21 Premier League you can have 3 overage outfield player, plus the keeper can be an overage player. In any case, it was a friendly today and the clubs can come to whatever agreement they want about who plays.

Bewildered Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 No Gallagher on the bench again, is he injured?
NewYorkSaint Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 I'm a huge fan of Lloyd Isgrove. Delighted to see him in first team again. Looks like he'll get a fair bit of playing time this season.
shurlock Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 Isgrove not good enough IMO. Busy, little player but not enough quality and cutting-edge. Hope we can bring in someone there.
sentry Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 Its kinda strange cause (and I might be wrong here) he was used in pre-season when MP first took over but then not featured. I am looking forward to seeing him play.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 9 August, 2014 Posted 9 August, 2014 @SouthamptonFC: Get to your seats early because we’ll be introducing today’s squad to the crowd before @RonaldKoeman will addresses the fans! #saintsfc
