Dan Johnson Posted 24 July, 2014 Posted 24 July, 2014 Never sure why people are so keen that "we" get the best possible money. It's not the fans money, the money is all Liebherrs, and she will spend it how she wants, if at all. Some people seem to regard an incoming fee, almost as if its their own money! The money is Southampton Football clubs, the Liebherrs own the club but it's a completely separate legal entity. Directors can of course take dividends payments but they have a legal obligation to ensure the business is run correctly, clubs don't pay transfer fees directly into the owners bank account
Mallagroth Posted 24 July, 2014 Posted 24 July, 2014 You gotta love Guly The mad thing is the people who want him to stay the most are the ones who get so upset and get on twitter and tell him to f-eck off. Madness

angelman Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 A realistic look at the question of player loyalty: http://www.footyplace.com/features/southampton-prove-player-loyalty-is-dead-and-undeserved-0724297878 I read that and found one BIG flaw in the argument. It goes on about it being a two way thing, and how we discard players when we have had enough of them. That is incorrect. We do not discard them. Players see out their contract (whether it be at the club or out on loan) and when the contract expires, it is not renewed. What we are seeing this close season are players 1 year (or less) into a long term contract, looking to break it. So therefore the whole argument in that article is flawed and incorrect.
Gemmel Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Apparently Lovern has travelled to Bournemouth and is likely to feature. Should be an interesting reception. I wouldn't read much into it - I am sure the deal will go through, but a nice touch from Mr Koeman, if it has been done just to pish him off.

angelman Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Sends out a message that we are more than happy to keep him and accommodate him should offers not be acceptable.
saint_ed Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC 21s Southampton defender Dejan Lovren will undergo a medical with Liverpool over the weekend #LFC #SaintsFC
ratio_decidendi Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Ben Smith of the BBC on Twitter: "Southampton defender Dejan Lovren will undergo a medical with Liverpool over the weekend." Bye bye, Dejan!
Window Cleaner Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Ben Smith of the BBC on Twitter: "Southampton defender Dejan Lovren will undergo a medical with Liverpool over the weekend." Bye bye, Dejan! As a news item it about rates with bears defecating in woods. Morgan up next, I'll give it a week.
Pastor Patrón Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC 21s Southampton defender Dejan Lovren will undergo a medical with Liverpool over the weekend #LFC #SaintsFC Wow we sure showed our resolve, good to see we held out until a replacement was signed. Inb4 it turns out to be 16mill rising to 20 with add ons
ratio_decidendi Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 As a news item it about rates with bears defecating in woods. Morgan up next, I'll give it a week. Looking on the bright side, it might possibly indicate that a replacement has been found.
Window Cleaner Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Looking on the bright side, it might possibly indicate that a replacement has been found. Van Dijk apparently but it's 10 million smackeroonies to us and not a bent farthing less (or so they say in some red top).
Badger Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Van Dijk apparently but it's 10 million smackeroonies to us and not a bent farthing less (or so they say in some red top). IF true, then thats half the cost of Lovren, (and a significant chunk of a new LB as well).
angelman Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Would be happy to pay the £10m to just get it done and dusted. Would obviously think £8.5m (the same as Lovren last year) would be better
SuperSAINT Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC 21s Southampton defender Dejan Lovren will undergo a medical with Liverpool over the weekend #LFC #SaintsFC Well that will be the 1st part of Guan's 2 week forecast done and dusted.
Turkish Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Well that will be the 1st part of Guan's 2 week forecast done and dusted. I week to go then. Let's hope there's lots of incoming next week.
Saint Charlie Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Was on the cards for ages. Decent fee but also the loss of an excellent centre back who made a huge difference to our side last year. Absolutely have to start spending some of this cash now if we want do anything this season. As of right now our centre back situation is **** so lets get moving.
Killers Knee Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Talksport reporting Liverpool & SFC have agreed a fee of £20m
saintstr1 Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Just Take Liverpools £20 mill and give it straight to Celtic for Virgil Van D and Fraser Forster , Believe me it will be the best deal Saints have ever done. A straight swop Lovren for them to is unbelievably Wieghted in Saints favour
DuncanRG Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 £20m's good money, not fussed about that. What annoys me is - presuming there's not an imminent announcement - we haven't got a replacement lined up first. What is the problem with telling Lovren and Liverpool to hang right while we get or man!?

kpturner Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Kp i always respect your posts but on this occasion we will have to beg to differ....but Iam right;) So, with a fee reportedly agreed in the region of £20m, are you still adamant that we have lost millions? I don't think so personally. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/11367686.Lovren_fee_of___20m_agreed_between_Saints_and_Liverpool/?ref=eb

It does say region of though. 20 m would be a minimum IMO How much is his worth to us? that will only be seen at the end of the season
Ohio Saint Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Saints fans getting a lot of respect on Talkcrap regarding our stoic reaction to all our players being sold.......Obviously they do not read this forum.

I'll pass that on to Ron, just incase he thinks it's alright as it is.

Graffito Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 It's a concern that Koeman didn't want to lose Lovren and didn't want to lose any more than the three that had been sold but recognised it was a decision for the Board. Yet it would appear Lovren will be sold.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 I told you last week that he was definitely going to Liverpool. He had talks Tues / Weds. We wanted Martin Kelly as part of the deal but he didn't want to come. To be fair, why would he??? My source also told me that Morgan is definitely going. Expect an announcement next week.

johnnyboy Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 one less self obsessed *** to follow on twitter then ! move on, nothing to see here
ART Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 I too am all for us going in for Forster and Van Dijk and not quibbling over the fee. We could do worse than establish a long term co-operation with them over players, even getting Academy players sent to them on loan to gain experience.
Graffito Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 I thought he said he didnt want players here who didnt want to play for the shirt? Did he? I haven't read that. He's quoted here. Maybe things changed between then and now. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/liverpool-transfer-news-dejan-lovren-on-verge-of-switch-from-southampton-9629529.html
ART Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 With Schneiderlin due back for vacation it is imperative Lovren will be gone and not moping about with the chance of influencing Morgan. Just as important is that Morgan sees things moving on bringing in players.
Whitey Grandad Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 I hate Liverpool with a vengeance and want them to fail miserably.
saint_ed Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 I am convinced Lallana isn't going to get much of a look in this season, especially if they sign Marco Reus! I'm delighted by the fee we got for him to be honest.
Saint Lindford Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Lovern's position was untenable with his #norespect comment about his head being in Liverpool. Hopefully we can move on, spend some of the money on decent if not better replacement. The real fun will come as Liverpool fail next season and the likes of Lallana and Lovern realise that the grass is not always greener on the other side...money grabbing ***TS that they are.

OldNick Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Morgan will go, I'll wager my house on itbe careful Duncan or you will be accused of having no backbone or a bed wetter. Realistic IMO , but we live in hope he stays, but I am doubtful. At leat we will have a fantastic bank balance
Dellman Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Is Duncan still happy with the Board, after all they sell his books so what does it matter if they sell the team?
Batman Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 Is Duncan still happy with the Board, after all they sell his books so what does it matter if they sell the team? dont forget how confident he was after meeting Ralph
OldNick Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 dont forget how confident he was after meeting Ralph I have had a few spats with Duncan but to be fair recently he has been critical of the board
Chez Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 He may have said all the wrong things on his route out, but in the end we are losing an absolute top notch player here in a position notoriously hard to fill. Again I think we have undersold and again I fear pretty much no matter who comes in we will be weaker than last season. Maybe we will buy the right player again, time will tell. Quality wins you games. Take Morgan out of the side and all the real top quality has gone.

Sadly it looks as if we are going to lose at least one of them
adrian lord Posted 25 July, 2014 Posted 25 July, 2014 I can see us vying with the likes of WBA, WHU and Villa next season, trying to keep out of the relegation fight at this rate...
