Maybe we can have lighted torch parade outside his mum's house as well.

So what? It's football, he's on publicly facing social media and i'm pretty sure he's heard swear words before. Sometimes our fans come across way to ****ing nicely, nicely just wanting to be accepting by everyone and not hurting their feelings. Personally i've got no problem with a few having a bit of balls and showing that even if the clubs across as walk overs we won't forget so easily.

Utter **** slating Lovren to his brother. Really?

@LovrenDavor @northernsaint0 all I know is your brother is a unloyal money grabbing ****

****ter giving a platform to inbred simpletons since 2005, it's such a pointless load of rubbish filled with made up junk and vile nonsense the world was a much better place without it. Slagging his brother on twitter is the 2014 equivalent of egging his house or keying his car ie cowardly idiocy!

That's something that really annoys me about our fanbase (probably not just ours) - Lovren has acted like a tw4t, there's no denying that, but all the people tweeting personal abuse to him on an hourly basis isn't exactly going to make him change his mind or think of us in a fond light when he's left is it? He's a f*cking footballer, just grow up. Bringing his brother into it as well is a bit unnecessary as well - he hasn't done anything!

Bet Lovren will be counting down the hours until he signs for Liverpool, and after what i've seen from our fans on Twitter and Instragram I can't really blame him..

Hope there's a centre half signing coming down the slipway very quickly if Lovren's off by the weekend. I can't think of any reason at all why we couldn't secure a replacement before selling. It must leave such a bad impression on the players.

He genuinely won't give a flying **** that a handful of gobby teenagers on Twitter and Instagram have been giving him a bit of stick. He's getting what I assume will be a tidy pay rise and a move to a team playing in the Champions League where he can be found out again, the opinion of a few fans of a club he's barely been at five minutes isn't going to bother him in the slightest.

Damage must already be done in that regard you would suspect.

Not that we ever will, but it would be very interesting to hear an honest account of what the players have made of it all.

It can only hurt us more. Imagine being Morgan Schneiderlin right now.

The board have had quite some time to sort a replacement. As I've said beforehand, Newcastle managed it no problems with selling Debuchy and bringing Janmaat in on the same day. Obviously the Debuchy to Arsenal deal was a formality, but they didn't confirm it until they were sure they had their man.

It would make a big difference to players and fans if there was somebody already lined up, but as it stands, we've been made to look reactive in the transfer market once again.

the way things are going we are going to have so many new faces in the squad with new ones coming in at such a late stage how in the hell are we going to play as a team and not individuals?

Liverpool will have a price they will not go beyond. That is less than our valuation. They are not that desperate. That is clear from the fact they have yet to follow up. Lovren cannot dictate his value and no one else seems to be interested at £16m so I agree with kpturner. His tantrums will not cause a loss to Saints. The same applied to Lallana. He had no effect on value another club were prepared to pay.

They may not be desperate but if they are going to compete in the CL let alone the PL they need some good CB's

Yep. Newcastle are nearing their seventh signing this summer already. I know we've had the disruption of having to appoint a new manager, but given how confident Les Reed was in having players desperate to join the club, our business so far has been underwhelming to say the least. Assuming no one is signed before the Bournemouth game we will have two friendly games to try and integrate up to 5 new signings. Might be some way into the season before he build up any sort of rhythm.

Agree that we should have brought in his replacement before releasing him. In the meantime tell him to train on his own.

If he does go to suit himself and his new club then it will appear that yet again the buying club has dictated the terms of the move.

Ageed, not really an ideal situation to be in......... does the club only have itself to blame or is it the want away players fault?

true! but players will go to any club for the "right deal"

If Lovren's going to leave, I'd really enjoy United coming and pinching him from under Liverpool's noses.

With added bonus of showing up the wanting Champs League football for the sham of an excuse it is.

As the song goes ... its all about the money, money, money. dum dum dim dim diddlydum etc.

Just a heads up for those tweeting his brother.......

When the first bits came out about wanting to leave and his head was already in Liverpool and how he would love to play for them, his brother tweeted him saying;

"love the club you are with".

I read it as a dig at dejan

Anyone abusing his brother on social media is far more of a moron than Lovren himself.

Agree, its utterly pathetic and gives the ***** a further excuse to justify his leaving.

Agree - I genuinely think Utd will win the league next season (Very good players, great manager who commands respect and crucially, no European football to sidetrack them).

Liverpool will be 5th or 6th, again I'm certain of that. Hence, just to p*ss them off more, it'd be amusing if Man U stepped in ...

Anyway, has the tw*t gone yet????

BREAKING NEWS - Dejan Lovren will become a Liverpool player by the weekend according to @JimWhite

pic.twitter.com/4H2fyJr10s

Presumably Liverpool have agreed to our terms then and upped their offer to £25 million. But aren't we going to wait and see whether Chelsea will gazzump them? If they want him, I think that he ought to go there instead, even if they paid less for him.

As far as I'm aware, there's still been no bid accepted. All of the media leaks have been from Lovren's people (with authorisation from Liverpool) with the intention of forcing the move through as quickly as possible. All this talk of "the expectation is that he'll be a Liverpool player by the weekend" only holds any water if they actually submit an acceptable bid - I repeat, that still hasn't happened yet, and the original bid wasn't as much as the reported £20m.

Because of Lovren's attitude, the balance of power has probably been shifted to us. Koeman won't pick him for friendlies while he's got that attitude, so he's getting no match fitness in preparation for the new season which is now just over three weeks away. Liverpool obviously want him to join up with their tour of the US as soon as possible so he can start playing some games, but that obviously can't happen until we accept an offer, so both Liverpool and Lovren's people will start getting more and more twitchy about the situation and I suspect it'll end with Liverpool eventually giving us what we want.

As far as I'm aware, Chelsea aren't in the running at all.

Steve, if all the leaks have come from the Lovren Camp, what was the point of the Chelsea interest, and more recently, murmurings of Man Utd interest? Is that them as well?

I meant all of the media leaks referring specifically to him moving to Liverpool. I would guess that the Chelsea stuff came from us to perhaps force a bit of a bidding war, although it's conceivable that it came from Lovren's agent to get Liverpool to pull their finger out and get it done. After all, no deal = no commission for him.

People abusing Dejan's brother is well out of order and unjustified. If he'd been sticking his nose in like Alan Cork has about Jack's new contract, fair enough but whilst Dejan's behaviour is extremely unprofessional, let him hand himself because he'll start the season at Liverpool not in the opening squads because he's missed so much of pre-season. Suits Saints to wait because they've collected enough from Lambert and Lallana that they CAN play hardball and get what they want from Liverpool and there's less chance of facing him first game or if we did he'd be well undercooked fitness-wise.

Chelsea are very short at CB actually, Terry,Cahill, the totally useless Zouma and Ivanovic as a stand in. Still José said they'd done with buying players for the time being.

Watched a bit of their game against an Austrian side yesterday evening and tbh their reserve side and a couple of first teamers looked p*ss poor. Still theyy have many absents still I suppose.

Zouma has been given the number 5 squad number suggesting perhaps that Jose rates him. Mind you Jose doesn't rate Ivanovic at CB (all according to Jason Cundy yesterday). Lovren would be a good acquisition for anyone though. He was fantastic for us and as with Lallana and Shaw we will struggle to replace with equal quality and immediate performance levels.

Zouma is a red card waiting to happen, can't tackle, terribly disciplined, a real knob, can't understand why they paid 10 million for him, he'll end up on loan at Vitesse or something.

If the board have any sense they will wait until we have played Liverpool then sell him, lets not give him any pre-season game time and make him train with the kids.

Lets not make our opening day opponents stronger by letting him go before.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear we are going to move for Vlaar (or A.N.Other CB) until Lovren is sold so that stance wouldn't entirely play out in our favour.

I wouldn't be so sure, didn't Guan say we were going to hit all our targets at once ? the board must know that Lovren has now made it crystal clear he won't play for us again, they will already be looking at replacements and have them lined up,all it takes is agree the fee and then drag it out another 10 days or so,not a hope in hell will he be ready to play against us by then,if he is off this weekend like it is suggested he may get a game out in the US and be ready to face us for the 17th

I'm not sure I believe this 'hitting all the targets at once'. I can't see how that can happen in practical terms. Maybe it was just an expression used by Guan. Other than that I agree with you. What the club say and do might not always be the same thing!

Only thing that matters now is that we get the best possible money for him.

Never sure why people are so keen that "we" get the best possible money. It's not the fans money, the money is all Liebherrs, and she will spend it how she wants, if at all. Some people seem to regard an incoming fee, almost as if its their own money!

What a bizarre post. Of course we want to get as much as we can

What a bizarre viewpoint. The more money we get for players, the more should be available to spend on other players and the less money will be available to the other club to spend on more players, because they overspent on our players. Note that I do call them our players, although you will probably correct me and point out that technically they are Katharina's players, as she owns the club.
