If kroos is worth £24m then.....

Kroos doesn't come from the Premier League does he?

We all know prices in the Premier League are over inflated so let's take advantage of it.

My prediction.

2 more signings max, largely unimpressive.

Lovren 100% off to Liverpool. He will go for well under £20m at the last minute.

Schneiderlin will sign for Arsenal in the next 10 days. Koemans latest rhetoric is about securing best price... We are not planning to keep them,we are holding out for the best price.

We are in a fire sale. You sell damaged goods in a fire sale.

The Board have failed thus far - spectacularly. Koemans appointment is our only hope. We will not sign any 'better' players than Lovren or Schneiderlin. All of our targets are pretty mediocre, which indicates that players are unsure over Koeman, but more so about Southamptons perceived lack of ambition. Saints are damaged goods.

So who's to blame? Krueger and Les Reed. And frankly our owner.

That's how I feel at the moment. We are entering a relegation battle season. Hope I'm wrong but without reinforcement and with the negativity of the club still festering over our players who want out I can see only one positive... Koeman.

We need 6 quality players and we need to off load those who don't want to be here faster than we are. Let's admit we are in a fire sale and rebuild faster. We are running out of time. We can't even get Osvaldo to report for his pay packet FFS.

There is no respect for our club from our better players. The Board are to blame and so is our owner.

BUT IT CAN STILL BE TURNED AROUND IF KOEMAN CAN ATTRACT SOME QUALITY. WE NEED TO BUY.

Saint Robbie......yet again you surpass yourself with your absolute idiocy!

Why don't you just go and support Man City/Man U/Chelsea if you just want success without having to earn it?

Firesale - what a prat! 25 million Lallana, 30+ million for Shaw. How is that a fire sale?

How the hell do you know that our targets are mediocre eh? You on the committee deciding targets? Was Pelle mediocre? Was Tadic mediocre.

You are beyond hope.......

If the owner is to blame why don't you put your own money in? You could obviously do a better job than Koeman, the Board or anyone else for that matter.

This might only be a forum but my god, we have a large number of morons that purport to "support" Saints.

Sorry, but what realistically should our expectations be? Champions League football?

That is quite hysterical.

Robbie, there is method in the Board's so called madness. There are reasons why they're holding off making further signings. Firstly, players from the World Cup are still on vacation. ( Make of that what you will.) Secondly we have a number of irons in the fire and holding out for the dominoes to fall. Elsewhere, we're still waiting to know who is staying, who Koeman decides to keep, renew their contract, or release. He's not in a hurry and why pay out millions when we have youngsters capable of doing as well. I really think he and the Board would like to see Osvaldo's future settled really fast. Don't lose heart. We'll end up with a decent squad when the new Season commences.

Saint Robbie continues to not understand the concept of a fire sale with facepalming results.

Also, Wurzel is spot on with the transfer window stuff, except "FIFA" not "UEFA". Fifa recorded Lambert as a Saints player because their recognition of the transfer window is July 1st due to player contracts rolling over then. They also have a fecked up idea of what a close season is, all for legal purposes.

Imho.

Lovren will leave to Liverpool for a good price.

We will not let him have a proper pre-season and will only complete the deal after it is too late for him to play against us. (We're p1ssed at him and our attitude should be NOT to strengthen the Scousers BEFORE they play us)

No source, just an Opinion

I hope so. A good post Art.

All I am doing is warning where we currently stand if the board continue to show lack of ambition. I stick by my predictions - as at today we are in a potential relegation fight. Which means we as fans need to do some expectation management and be prepared to be 12th man next season, they are going to need us.

But, we have Koeman and fingers crossed you're right that the Board have already learned from their potentially catastrophic mistakes.

We must admit, we are in a fire sale. Our best players are damaged goods, damaged by agents and opportunity, but damaged nonetheless. I am quite satisfied that Schneiderlin and Lovren are off and that all Koeman is doing now is playing for more money.

It's heart wrenching to see how a team that was so close to breaking into the top tier, blew it. MoPo, stated today that he is at a bigger club (a little disrespectful), but he is a top end professional driven by the need for competitive excellence. Arguably so are our finest players who are leaving in droves.

Very poor management happened. It happened. Regardless of who was to blame (Cortese for over ambition? At this level I sense no such thing.), MoPo for throwing a teddy and running to the first reasonable offer he got, maybe, Krueger failing to replace Cortese, Les Reed allowing sales BEFORE the manager could influence and assess? Dunno. But some thing happened about 9 months ago that sealed our fate this summer. I think it was wasn't lack of ambition, I think it was just poorly communicating our plan to continue to rise.

Those fans on here that say those of us with ambition should do a reality check on what Southampton FC is are those that would have us languishing in the Championship for years. I am a fan, I care passionately about our club, so I demand more. We should all demand more.

The point of my post was to highlight that our Boardroom leadership failed and if we don't continue to reinvest and support the one thing they may have done right -KOEMAN- then we will fail.

As at today we have failed to bring in enough players, in 4 weeks time, I am banking on our Boardroom having learned it's lesson and have been true to their word to invest EVERYTHING into supporting Koeman.

Success = success! failures often lead to more failure. I've had a taste of my football club being close to Europe, that's what I demand they achieve or sell up to someone who share the ambition of the passionate fans, best players and the manager.

We were so close... So close to breaking in to the top 6. This season we are not....... YET.

Why do you continue supporting something that you obviously feel doesn't come up to your expectations? Why not go to that lot down the road - they could do with a 12th man.

no no no, it's just a lazy Croat (I presume) journalist this time filling up space with a bit of sensationalism.

Seriously though IF this happens then I hope people will start to realise that the "board" are taking them for a ride...and not to a good place.

Anyway at 20 million euros that's not even a good deal for Saints, in fact it would be p*ss poor. 16 million £ for Lovren no way, he'll only leave for a top price, isn't that what Koeman said ? Still to him I guess 16 million £ is a top price.

Lovren will sign for Liverpool in the next 48 hours for £20m, according to Sportske Novosti. #LFC

Do people really think "re-invested" in the footballing side of the club or even the first team means purely transfer fees?

You know we have to pay these guys, right?

People do seem to ignore this point. The budget is the entire package.

Wage, signing on fee's, bonuses, agent fee's - it's all part of the transfer budget, it's not as simple as saying I'll cost £30m and that's that. There's a very simplistic view to transfers on this forum I've noticed over the years, probably bread from the Football Manager game.

And then bear in mind that Lambert, Lallana and Shaw's deals will not have been in full - so talk of £60m to spend isn't true, we may only currently have £25m to our name and waiting for the rest in clauses and instalments - so our deals will need to be structured in similar ways

Of course we do. But so far we have reduced the wage bill quite substantially this summer as well. Regardless of who we bring in it will probably only equal last years, assuming we lose Lambert, Lovren, Lallana, Shaw and Osvaldo - many of whom were high earners.

Does anyone really see us spending 40 or 50m from here on players? If not then what Reed said just isnt the case.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/9346624/transfer-news-southampton-to-reinvest-in-squad-if-star-players-leave-says-les-reed

Reed:

"We will only make decisions based on what’s right and best for the club, so if we do sell players then it’s guaranteed that any revenues we make will be reinvested in the team," he said.

"There’s a logistical job to be done there because we do want to bring players in and improve the team so it’s important that, whatever happens, when we do kick off on August 16 that we have improved the team and the depth and strength of the squad with the players that have come in, even if players may have gone out.

"However, our intention is to keep all of our core players – I wouldn’t want people to think I’ve just opened the door for transfers, that’s not the case."

Well on Aug 16th we are going to have to have done some to have improved the team and the depth and strength of the squad. Right now it is massively weaker.

End of the day, Reed set the success criteria as being overall stronger and so far has massively under delivered.

If he didnt mean it then he shouldnt have said it.

But he has a habit of saying one thing and doing the other.

Really need to get a move on. Early fixtures the best run too, if we struggle in those then the December run wouldnt be nice..

Why is it your place to warn that? We are all in equal position to see what is going on, and I doubt that anyone was sat around waiting for SaintRobbie to clear the situation up before forming an opinion on the matter.

Also, what lack of ambition? We have appointed the most decorated manager our club has ever had and signed two good players as well as being linked to other decent level footballers. Yes we've had players leave, but if that's what they want to do there is really not much we can do. What we can, and have, done is look to appoint and replace well where necessary so far. If we get to August 16th and the squad is the same, then a lack of ambition will have been shown, but until then, we don't know what is going on.

But, we have Koeman and fingers crossed you're right that the Board have already learned from their potentially catastrophic mistakes.

Please can you list what those "potentially catastrophic mistakes" are, as I genuinely don't know? Haven't seen anything of the sort. Absolute sensationalist nonsense.

We must admit, we are in a fire sale.

What are you talking about? Why must we admit that? We aren't! A firesale is defined thus:

a sale of goods or assets at a very low price, typically when the seller is facing bankruptcy.
We sold two want-away players for way over the odds. Just to clarify, we got more for Shaw and Lallana than AC Milan did for Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. That's not a very low price. That's better than we could have hoped for. If they wanted to leave anyway, I think by getting so much for them our board has actually made the best of a bad situation.

Those fans on here that say those of us with ambition should do a reality check on what Southampton FC is are those that would have us languishing in the Championship for years. I am a fan, I care passionately about our club, so I demand more. We should all demand more.

Is that why the other day you said that we should "take the hit on Lovren" as we could survive without him, but the day previously were relentless in suggesting Billy Sharp should play in the Premier League for us this year? Great ambition there.

So, so reactionary, SaintRobbie, thanks for the chuckle!

If Lovren is transferred to Liverpool or anywhere else tomorrow for 20 million € then I think we can assume that the quotes and various other statements are just bullsh*t designed to string the fans along for some reason or other.

To be fair I think most of us worked that one out when Lambert was sold for less than 4 million, let alone when Shaw and then Lallana went. Lovren, Morgan and then Rodriguez once fit to follow. Maybe then some of our dumb supporters will wake up to what is happening.

Well given the content of Guan's latest "info" I didn't want to be too hard on the fans.

Oh to be as sagacious as you. Maybe you could tell us all what is happening?

well at this moment in time it looks like KL is perhaps withdrawing some of her investment into the club. (Her prerogative) If it is the case is it sad that they are not being transparent and leading the fans along by saying the money will be reinvested as well as the 35m.

No-one from the club has ever mentioned 35 million as far as I know, just the indirect official spokesman Guan 2.0 He started that, people took it as gospel that's all.
