What's Lovren gonna do now as Liverpool are selling their best players.

Quote from Suarez:

"It is with a heavy heart that I leave Liverpool for a new life and new challenges in Spain. Both me and my family have fallen in love with this club and with the city.

"But most of all I have fallen in love with the incredible fans. You have always supported me and we, as a family, will never forget it, we will always be Liverpool supporters.

"I hope you can all understand why I have made this decision. This club did all they could to get me to stay, but playing and living in Spain, where my wife's family live, is a lifelong dream and ambition. I believe now the timing is right.

"I wish Brendan Rodgers and the team well for the future. The club is in great hands and I'm sure will be successful again next season.

"I am very proud I have played my part in helping to return Liverpool to the elite of the Premier League and in particular back into the Champions League.

"Thank you again for some great moments and memories. You'll Never Walk Alone."

Take note Lovren...that is how you leave a club.

Suarez' leaving speech:

When I first arrived here from Ajax, I couldn't wait to get my teeth into the English Premier League. I am happy to have played for this great club and to give the attack some bite. Ever since I was a youngster cutting my teeth playing in my native Uruguay, I once dreamed of playing in the European major Leagues and this has been a dream for me. Leaving you wonderful fans will be like a kick in the teeth to me, and I have been proud to have helped Liverpool climb back to the summit of the Premier League. It was a shame that we got so close to being Champions, but missed it by the skin of our teeth. But I am confident that even without me, Meester Rodgers will get the bit between his teeth, bring in the new players from Southampton and other major clubs and then armed to the teeth with this talent, they will conquer all.

£63-4m for Suarez? LOL at Liverpool. You've been done by the unprofessionalism of your greatest player ever.

PMSL!

Now lets buy some players and slaughter them at Anfield on day 1!!!!!

How do you know it is only £64m? I am never sure whether papers really understand the difference between £ and €. €80m at £1.25:€1 = £64m so it might be right, but who knows?

That's the figure being quoted on Sky Sports News currently.

Five years ago I never dreamed posters would muse that key defenders of World Cup semi finalists who conceded 3 goals in 6 matches might not be good enough for us. Actually I didn't imagine it five minutes ago either.

Unlike most high performers at the World Cup we've all had the advantage of seeing Ron Vlaar play regularly for a couple of years. Even defending deep and absorbing pressure (a style which goes some way to masking his lack of pace) Villa concede a lot of goals. It looks like they're going to offer him a big wage boost to persuade him to stay - I assume we'd have to match that. He's good, and by far the least culpable in that team for their leakiness, but for the money I think we can do better.

De Vrij looked absolute quality the other night - is he absolutely out of the question ?

No I don't think so - Was mentioned in despatches as being a Manure target, but that particular emphasis seems to have shifted towards the already proven premiership quality of Vlaar.

His stock has certainly shot up thanks to the World Cup, but he is young and would be a better fit and perhaps get more regular football with a club like ours - And we do of course have a strong Dutch connection unlike the "Toons".

Even less than that in L'Equipe 70 to 75 million €, struggling to get to even 60 million quid.

Well they are saying "more than €70m according to Spanish press"

It will be interesting to see if Lovren now starts back-pedalling a little. Saints don't have to hold tight until the window closes - just to the point at which Spurs and Liverpool sign someone else because they can't afford to risk waiting any longer.

And maybe just Liverpool. Reading between the lines of the Pochettino saga, which may well have started much earlier than many of us think, it seems to me that Saints are angry enough that they wouldn't give Spurs a spot if they had the measles.

Lovren needs to note Liverpools ambition. Suarez, gone. End of title hopes, end of another year in the Champions League.

Suarez is only leaving because he no longer believes in the ambition and vision of Liverpool Football Club or something.

Suarez is leaving because Liverpool are fed up with his antics and can still get mega bucks for him thanks to the stupidity of FC Barcelona.

Regardless of what happened at the WC, barca/real we're going to be coming for him.

All this crap from the Liverpool fans that he's a liability etc, is the same as we are dealing with Lovren/lallana situation.

He's a game changer IMO, and defiantly in my top 5 players ATM

Probably written by the club's PR person.

After watching Koemans interview I find my opinion on Lovren changing daily!!

I can't work out if we are better shot of him to Liverpool for another rip off fee, or whether Koeman will now be able to turn him round. Fascinating.

Can you rebuild a bridge you've burnt down? I guess you can.

Mrs Lovren posted some odd quote on her twitter to do with the intelligent forgive, perhaps it was not about us forgiving him if he leaves, but I live in hope it is if he stays

Got to wonder if Koeman took offence to his remarks. Lovren's declaration that the board had no ambition/vision came after Koeman was appointed, from which Ron could infer that Lovren does not regard the appointment as a positive step. I'd feel pretty undermined by that.

Putting down my pitchfork and extinguishing the burning effigy on this one, and would rather Lovren came out with a statement that his comments were made in panic after the quick succession of players departing, but he has now been reassured by the transfer activity and is sorry. Might not be completely true, but biting the bullet and at least giving us another year will be of benefit for everyone.

That would deal with the issue of ruffled feathers, but not the fact he will double his wages by still going to Liverpool.

That was me. The tweet that is, not the graffiti. My writing is much neater.

Ah FFS, The Cat. Don't you realise that proper form around here is to hide behind anonymity and behave like a complete c##t?

You've done yourself, up. I hope you enjoy posting as a reasonable human being. It's all that's now possible with this username ;)

Deleted his "Merci frero" tweet to Schneiderlin.... Maybe not so popular with the squad either now?

Honestly cant see a way back for him now, good riddance. Take the £20mil as long as he's sold abroad

No he hasn't.

And football fans are fickle, it will be easy for him to come back. Couple of crunching tackles, goal line clearance and clean sheet later and it'll be oooohhh Dejan Lovren, he f**king hates pompey ... etc.

Errr, it wasn't actually me. I didn't write that last post. My son went into my office while I'd left the laptop logged in.

personally, I hope Dejan reads this. While we all agree things have not been handled as they should have been, there is no need to follow him around social media calling him a ****.

If he does stay, then all it need take is a small apology and admission that things weren't done right, and life can carry on. Fans are accused (correctly) of being fickle, but players seem to escape that accusation.

There's an easy way out for him. When he left after the Croatia campaign Poch was still in charge, uncertainty etc.

He can simply come back, say he is inspired by Koeman, sees a clear vision for the club and the majority of Saints fans will accept it if his performances are comparable to last year. Clearly he is a passionate guy and I have some sympathy with his questioning of 'who is the man'?.

What he said was nothing short of scandalous, but take the emotion out of it and I'd like to see him lining up for us August 15th.
