Dibbs1988 Posted 9 July, 2014 Share Posted 9 July, 2014 Looking forward to seeing all of our new players in person for the first time this season. Hopefully a good mix of new players and youngsters Main question however Is that me and a few mates are making a evening of if in town afterwards and I was wondering if they will serve beer this time, I recall going a few years back and they didn't. Any info would be greatly received

ant Posted 10 July, 2014 Share Posted 10 July, 2014 Looks like my girlfriend and I will be making a short break out of this - would be nice if the weather could hold up... Anybody know of any places in Bournemouth that specialise in ale/craft beer? what are the odds of this game going to general sale? Would be surprised if it doesn't get to general sale, though I'd jump on quickly tomorrow morning to make sure.
fish fingers Posted 10 July, 2014 Share Posted 10 July, 2014 You want the Goat and Tricycle, only decent pub left in the town centre. Good food and beer.

Looks like there's a bar and cellar near where I'll be staying called Chaplin's - will probably check that out as well.

ericb Posted 10 July, 2014 Share Posted 10 July, 2014 Not a great place Chaplins , full of Low Lifes ....on a Friday Night either Oneils for a live band or go into charminster good bars and resturants there and live music I used to live next to Chaplins, wasn't a terrible place at all (though prior to that i'd lived in Bevois Valley so it might be relative). From what i remember of Bournemouth though it wasn't the best place to drink in the summer. Old Christchurch road was full of stag/hen parties and for anywhere decent you had to take a fair old walk. Did like Smoking Aces (whisky bar near the triangle) but if you're getting the last train back to southampton you'll never make it over from Boscombe to there and back in time. Lord Duckhunter Posted 10 July, 2014 Share Posted 10 July, 2014 Don't bother with Bournemouth, try Ashley cross or Poole quay. Get off train at parkstone for Ashley cross. Bermuda triangle has decent real ale.
yamms_schmitz Posted 10 July, 2014 Share Posted 10 July, 2014 what are the odds of this game going to general sale? If you want an interesting craft beer or cider, look no further than Montys Lounge. It is right outside Pokesdown train station (nearest station to the ground). The burgers are extremely good.

JackanorySFC Posted 11 July, 2014 Share Posted 11 July, 2014 Away section sold out. With Saints fans in the home end I fully expect more Saints in the ground than Bournemouth. I've got a half day booked, hoping the sun's shining as I'm planning on making the most of it. Bournemouth away on a Friday in mid-summer? Class fixture that! Wonderful service!!! Any idea how many tickets were allocated? Online ticketing system says sold out. Allocation about 800 usually going on previous visits? No problem though, will get one in the home end easy enough. Be loads of Saints everywhere, as there are every time we play there. However this being a Friday evening game, I reckon there will be more than usual!
SFCRedandWhite Posted 11 July, 2014 Share Posted 11 July, 2014 Allocated 1300. But Bournemouth keeping the south end shut! Why not just stick us all in the south stand, got to be at least 3000 seats in there. We'd easily sell it out.
Dan Posted 11 July, 2014 Share Posted 11 July, 2014 Didn't get tickets in time before they sold out. Will be a few of us in the home end I should have thought.

alehouseboys Posted 11 July, 2014 Share Posted 11 July, 2014 hoping the sun's shining as I'm planning on making the most of it. Bournemouth away on a Friday in mid-summer? Class fixture that! That's what we all thought a few years back for a Saturday friendly down there, late July/earlyAug. It was like a November fixture, fookin' cold and it p*ssed down all day. Ruined a few plans. Bit surprised they never gave us the stand behind the goal where they could have housed twice as many Saints fans and boosted the gate for them. Now they'll just get Southampton in the home sections. RedAndWhite91 Posted 12 July, 2014 Share Posted 12 July, 2014 Bournemouth fan on twitter utterly perplexed as to why we've sold this out. Something along the lines of "if Southampton don't care about Bournemouth why have they sold out a friendly" type thing. I'm going cos it's a Friday night and it's not far away. Looking forward to it. Bless Bournemouth.
