Maurizio Pochettino has joined Watford from Spurs. Not sure he was actually officially ever on our books, but he certainly used to train with our Academy when his old man was in charge.

My lad reffed a game he played in at academy here. Good on ball not enough pace in game I saw him play.

Nile Ranger back at Southend... well kind of!

Nile Ranger, who re-signed in February after being released owing to “recurring disciplinary issues” in 2018, sustained a groin injury 12 minutes into his comeback.

Great for the lad, but releasing him was bizarre. I saw him many times and he would have made it here given a chance.

Agreed, he looked a great prospect, there must have been more to it. What happened to that lad Andre something, a striker, they called him Shev, youth team player around 2001-03. He was released but was really highly rated, I remember speaking to a couple of coaches and they said he was the best prospect we had at the time

I guess you could argue that if as u say he made it then why was he never picked up by another team in a good league?

That’s him thanks.

another striker there was a lot of excitement about was Mark Paul, never came to anything

i remember about 20 years ago we had a few Australians about 17/18 years old. I believe Jay Lucas was dubbed the new Harry Kewell, There was another called Caceres plus one or two more.

Did Cosimo Sarli exist or have I made him up?

About 98? Scored 5 goals for the reserves in one game, huge clamour for him to play for the first team don’t think he ever did

Can it be the same one!

from BBC:

3 mins

Post update

Real Betis 0-0 Real Madrid

Lots of energy being shown by the Betis players early doors as Juanmi quickly chases down the Real Madrid player in possession.

The visitors have an early corner but Guido Rodríguez clears at his near post.

It is the same one, he has had a decent career since leaving us, was always talented just not really suited to English football.
