We need to know: name, duration at club, year started, position, list of clubs in chronological order with league/division. It would also be interesting to see how many sadly don't make it. Badger Posted 8 July, 2014 Share Posted 8 July, 2014 I remember someone posting about this defender or centre half after a pre-season friendly, saying how good he looked, and did anyone know who it was 'cos he looked one for the future etc. The response was Ryan Tafazolli , although clearly did not live up to the billing. So, moral of the story is that like youtube clips, and a 'playing out of your skin world cup series' , pre-season friendlies at Eastleigh may not be the best place to judge a player in the making. Pleased that he's obviously done something okay at Mansfield after leaving Saints though.

lloydie Posted 8 July, 2014 Share Posted 8 July, 2014 I quite like to see where players end up. I saw Ben Reeves signed a new deal with MK Dons the other day - He's progressing well. I genuinely think he will end up at a higher level then that still. He has got brilliant technique, his range of passing is top class just obviously theres something that the coaches he was playing under at saints saw that made them think he didnt have to make the grade! (possibly size?)

(possibly size?) I think he will definitely go up a level. But right now, I think league 1 in a team that plays slick football is perfect for his development. Karl Robinson obviously really rates him: “He’s got all the technical components to play at the top level. The sky is the limit for Reevesy and I’m looking forward to working with him once again.”

I actually like to see where our ex-Academy players get to, and see if any of them work hard enough to make a decent living. If A Scots Prem side are interested in him, he can't be doing too badly. me too Minty, if you see a young lad 's name featured at U16 level ..and then follow his progress we know the heartache there is for those who ..."don't make it ", and we are forced to let go- just at the wrong time. Being released from an Academy (like ours) is no disgrace as we know they get good coaching provides a sound base for everyone of them. Pity those lads at Chelsea who'll never get a look-in. Breaking into the First team ....at a Premier League club is a notable achievement for anyone, and as we see. it's rare, but not impossible (is it Luke ?) There is a long list of those who have left SFC but still managed a reasonable career in the Football League (on a rough check I counted around 20 last season - mostly L1, L2.) Some players still make a good career, and players like; Mike Williamson and Gary Monk even made it to the Prem. under their own steam, after humbler beginnings. I'm sure many of them remember their training days with Saints, and perhaps missed out because there were better players in the first team squad . Whichevevr club Ryan plays at next season - it's certainly a name you find hard to forget.

The9 Posted 8 July, 2014 Author Share Posted 8 July, 2014 (edited) Well, that's everyone that was already on that list, everyone Soccerbase lists as a first team squad member since 2011, and a couple of others off the top of my head - but there are more - I haven't considered the likes of Jamie Hatch or any of the reserves/academy from 2011-2013 who DIDN'T make the first team... so away you go... Just added Jamie White, Jeffrey Imudia and Jack Dovey. And all the releases I can find since 2012, though I haven't looked any of this lot up. Matt Young (Saints released 2014) Joe Curtis (Saints released 2014) Jamal Branker (Saints released 2014) Fraser Colmer (Saints released 2014) Alberto Seidi (Saints released 2013) Gboly Ariyibi (Saints released 2013 - signed with Leeds) Dan Bowman (Saints released 2012) Steve Mowthorpe (Saints released 2012) Conor O’Sullivan (Saints released 2012) And Eddie Odihambo-Anaclet. That's quite enough of that. Edited 8 July, 2014 by The9
