KingdomCome Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Incredible. Saints were and are extremely lucky to have been saved by Markus. Not a chance we would be anywhere near where we are now without him.
saint1977 Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Massive thank you to Markus, Katharina and Nicola for the fantastic recovery and now progress of our club these last 5 years. Some of the matches, moments and players such as Rickie Lambert that we've been fortunate enough to see and experience will live with us for a long time. Now we have a fantastic opportunity to build on that legacy with Katharina following in Markus's footsteps and she deserves our full support in doing so. The club is so much stronger than the last time we were in the Premier League and a couple of Lovren-type prima donnas isn't going to change that. Next season may be one of transition but we'll be fine long-term, I'm confident of that.
Viking Warrior Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 (edited) Forever a Saint You gave us hope, you kept our dream alive , you gave us back the spirit of Southampton Your smile is forever etched on my mind . It might only have been the JPT . But that was some special day for all us saints fans for which you will always be remembered for Thank you Markus And thank you Katharina for continuing with our journey . Your dad will be proud of you Edited 8 July, 2014 by Viking Warrior
Fowllyd Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Five years, blimey. I'm sure we can all remember how bleak things looked just a few days earlier in 2009 - thank you Markus, we owe so much to you.
Shanghai Saint Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Thank you Markus, you will forever have our gratitude.
Chez Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 I really enjoy singing the `Liebherr wonderland' song and hope it continues for as long as I'm going to games.
sussexsaint Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Awesome , so glad i was there - that song always always gets me now
Viking Warrior Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Thanks for posting hat saint Armstrong brought a tear or two to even today
davefizzy14 Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Thank you Markus for saving us, without you we wouldn't have a club today. Always a true Saint
Colinjb Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Interesting seeing Jose Fonte walk out in Palace colours at the end of that compilation.
Jimmy_D Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Five of the most enjoyable years I've had as a Saints fan, all thanks to Markus. Thank You.
latter day saint Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Forever in your debt, Markus. The last 5 years have been amazing
alpine_saint Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Thankyou, Markus. Still think Baj or Steve should put you in the banner.
waggy Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Thank you Markus, you are truly a Saint amongst Saints.
Ohio Saint Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 I don't have the words to put into perspective what he has done for all of us. Thank you.
Under Weststand Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 You came when we were at our lowest point, you put your money into the club & resurrected Saints. I wish You had been here to see and savour every step up the ladder we took. Forever in our memories. Thank you Markus.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 I don't have the words to put into perspective what he has done for all of us. Thank you. cambsaint Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Despite being taken from us far too young; you have left a great legacy that will be remembered and honoured by all Saints fans the world over. We are all in your debt, and your memory will live long at St Mary's. There ought to be a permanent memorial and Southampton City Council should name a road near St Mary's after you.
Halo Stickman Posted 8 July, 2014 Posted 8 July, 2014 Thank you Markus. Your memory will live on forever in the hearts of Saints’ fans.
paulwantsapint Posted 9 July, 2014 Posted 9 July, 2014 Saint Markus has only person to compete with as most important saint ever Sir Ted, I get the feeling that they often argue in heaven over who is more important both bigging up the others part while playing down their own

But you sir saved the club in it's darkest hour..... That would be a great debate to see.

Sadly few signatories. The Liebherr Stand?
davefoggy Posted 10 July, 2014 Posted 10 July, 2014 Life is so cruel that Markus never got to see us back in the Prem. So sad Thank you Markus. Simply the best
trousers Posted 8 July, 2015 Posted 8 July, 2015 Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC At 1pm on Wednesday 8th July 2009, Markus Liebherr completed his takeover of #SaintsFC. Six years later, #WeMarchOn.
Saint86 Posted 8 July, 2015 Posted 8 July, 2015 Not only saved the club for us all, but set the foundation stones in place to lift us to greater and sustainable heights. Will never be forgotten!
Dellman Posted 8 July, 2016 Posted 8 July, 2016 Good to know some Europeans are still valued...Markus didn't just pour in money like so many rich owners, he had the wisdom to lay foundations which is better by far.
suewhistle Posted 8 July, 2016 Posted 8 July, 2016 Seems appropriate that this morning a packet arrived: my new Saints season ticket. Can't wait for the 26th August either...
VectisSaint Posted 8 July, 2016 Posted 8 July, 2016 It was a great Birthday present for me when Markus with the help of his great friend stepped in and saved our club seven years ago.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 July, 2016 Posted 8 July, 2016 Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC At 1pm on Wednesday 8th July 2009, Markus Liebherr completed his takeover of #SaintsFC. Six years later, #WeMarchOn. Legend
Jimmy_D Posted 8 July, 2016 Posted 8 July, 2016 Seven years.... It really doesn't seem that long. Thank You Marcus.
Griffo Posted 8 July, 2016 Posted 8 July, 2016 Forever in your debt, Markus. The last 5 years have been amazing Did we ever find out where this went?
austsaint Posted 8 July, 2016 Posted 8 July, 2016 What a marvellous human being. Bailed SFC out at a time when things looked bleak. Not a hint of ego or triumphalism in the short time his life had to run. Managed an ethical, innovative company and generously set up the successful EPL team we've been enjoying for the past three seasons.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 8 July, 2016 Posted 8 July, 2016 Did we ever find out where this went? It was on the pitch at a game last season close to the anniversary of his death. I seem to remember players warming up in 'Thank You Markus' shirts and Ralph giving a speech about Markus (and Katharina).

Everton their fans decided to make as much noise as possible all through Ralph's speech.... Edited 8 July, 2016 by doddisalegend
Slugger Posted 8 July, 2016 Posted 8 July, 2016 That day we were taken over was such a good feeling, as good as you can have off the pitch as a football fan I think. The Liebherr family have ultimately done as well out of it as Saints have, a shrewd financial decision to buy, from a shrewd man.
ART Posted 8 July, 2016 Posted 8 July, 2016 Thank yoyu once again for all that you have done. Your legacy lives on and we shall never forget you
rallyboy Posted 8 July, 2016 Posted 8 July, 2016 How many owners get their names sung at every home game?! Top man.
