mynameisthehulk Posted 4 July, 2014 Share Posted 4 July, 2014 Boruc Chambers Yoshida Jos Clyne Cork Wanyama Ramirez Davis Reed Gallagher This assumes we lose Lovren, Fonte and Schneiderlin and don't sign any replacements. Midfield not too bad but looking very vulnerable at the back and weak attacking. Not sure when JRod is due to return but I imagine it will still be quite some considerable time. We'll be much stronger than that come the start, but if that did happen to be the side, then we'd be relegated before Christmas.. A combination of not enough goals and not keeping enough out. DuncanRG Posted 4 July, 2014 Share Posted 4 July, 2014 I really don't think you can even entertain the idea of not signing any players. Worst case scenario is we can't get our top targets and have to settle for others later in the window. Nobody can guess who those players would be, but no matter what the team will be much stronger than that.
disconnect Posted 4 July, 2014 Share Posted 4 July, 2014 Worst case would be more like this: Davis Clyne Yoshida Jos Targett Cork Wanyama Sinclair Davis Reed Gallagher / Mayuka Assuming Ramirez, Boruc, Chambers all go too. FWIW I think we'll still have Boruc, Fonte, Chambers... First match lineup: Boruc Clyne Fonte NEW NEW Cork Wanyama Davis NEW Ramirez NEW
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 4 July, 2014 Share Posted 4 July, 2014 With the team above we would struggle to get a single point and would be the worst premiership side in history. I have a sneaking feeling that Koeman would have resigned by the opening game if he had to field the above side!! Lets hope we can get 3 or 4 signings in within the next week as it is currently very miserable being a Saints fan
Beckenham Saint Posted 4 July, 2014 Share Posted 4 July, 2014 Worst case scenario? I think no players at all would lead to the worst possible line-up of not having one. As things stand, we could field: Boruc Clyne Lovren Fonte Targett Morgan Wanyama JWP Davis Gastón Gallagher
disconnect Posted 4 July, 2014 Share Posted 4 July, 2014 Dont forget though, Palace had a good season and played most of that with two of the worst passers in the Premier League playing as their central midfield pair - Jedinak and Dikgacoi... Wanyama and Cork make us very strong there, and who knows, maybe given a run Mayuka could grab a few goals?
Daft Kerplunk Posted 4 July, 2014 Share Posted 4 July, 2014 Koeman more likely to go with 5 at the back, which might work well with the full backs bombing on and Chambers moved into more of a centre back position...team assuming Schneiderlin and Lovren leave...xxx new and very important signings. Boruc/xxx Clyne Chambers xxxx Fonte Targett JWP Wanyama Cork xxx xxx with able deputies in Davis, Ramirez and anyone else we have not yet seen in full swing coming to the fore such as Reed, Gallagher and so on

Saxon Posted 4 July, 2014 Share Posted 4 July, 2014 Looking at how Palace did last season with the squad they had, no one should be worrying about our squad. If big Ron can get the best out of them it will be fine. It all hangs on if the squad gels and they all pick up the style quickly. Pulis transformed a Palace side that were one of the worst squads in the league up to the point of Pulis coming in. And then lok what happened with the same guys (pretty much). mynameisthehulk Posted 4 July, 2014 Author Share Posted 4 July, 2014 Shouldn't you be preparing for tonight's quarter final rather than worrying about something that will never happen? I knew this forearm was going downhill fast but for someone to confuse "Hulk" with "The Hulk" is entirely f'ing ridiculous.
norwaysaint Posted 4 July, 2014 Share Posted 4 July, 2014 We'd be very poor with Clyne at LB, a few people have got a bit carried away with his ability there. No matter how ready he is, Targett would be a better bet. I'd also like to see Chambers used in another position if not at RB, I think he could do a job at CD or in midfield. Interesting that even with losses, many people still wouldn't play JWP.
