Grey Crab Posted 28 June, 2014 Share Posted 28 June, 2014 ...would we have been able to convince others to stay? I'm not blaming Lambert, but if he'd have been convinced to stay, would he have been the catalyst for others to stay too? It seems to me have had a domino effect. I doubt it I'm sure they're all mates but would you turn down a new, better, job with a big pay rise somewhere else because a work mate had decided to stay at your current company?...............no me neither

Lambert was never going to stay with Liverpool interested in him and even if he did I struggle to see how that would make Lallana and Shaw turned down huge wage increases and a better chance of winning things. doddisalegend Posted 28 June, 2014 Share Posted 28 June, 2014 Yeh, that's right. It's JUST like that. Ok tell me how it really is. Say Liverpool didn't come in for Lambert but still wanted Adam can you really see Adam saying " well it's a shot at the big time Rickie and a big pay raise as well......but if you're staying mate then so I'm I". CB Fry Posted 28 June, 2014 Share Posted 28 June, 2014 Yeh, that's right. It's JUST like that. Yes, it is. 120k a week to play CL and/or at one of world's biggest football clubs or stay here with my scouse friend who is 10-14 years older than me. ONE MORE YEAR WITH RICKIE IT IS!!! YAY. There is certainly no doubt that letting Lambert go for a song to Liverpool opened the players eyes to the fact that they could leave despite their contracts. What's more - letting Lambert go so early actually signalled to the money grabbing agents that a big pay day was available. My view is that Lamberts exit has had some effect. It was bad business, was badly handled, we were made to look amateurish by Liverpool and we looked disorganised and weak at Boardlevel. Added to the fact that MoPo said he was off as his players were being sold it looks like it was part of a very very poor bout of Boardroom decision making. Chez Posted 28 June, 2014 Share Posted 28 June, 2014 The deals for Shaw and Lallana were being negotiated long before lambert left. Him leaving had bearing on the other two deals IMO.
