Schneiderlin Transfer Rumours

Erm, weren't we bottom with that team?

After arguably the most difficult start to a season for any team, we had clawed our way up to 15th at the time that Adkins was replaced by Pochettino on 18th January. When we again played Man City shortly afterwards on 9th February at home, we beat them 3-1 with the following team:-

A Boruc, J Hooiveld, D Fox (F Richardson, 71), N Clyne, M Yoshida, S Davis (J Ward-Prowse, 80), J Puncheon (A Lallana, 61), J Cork, M Schneiderlin, J Rodriguez, R Lambert

Subs not used: T Lee, V Forren, R Chaplow, K Davis

Pochettino finished the season only one position higher at 14th. So no, my point stands, that arguably even without Shaw, Lambert and Lallana, there have been improvements in other areas of the team that make it stronger than the team that Pochettino inherited. Lovren wasn't even our player at that time, but we must hope that if he goes, his replacement will be an improvement on Forren or Hooiveld at least.

I reiterate, I have no doubts in my mind that we will strengthen in those positions, but we are a long way off relegation if we didn't.

Gary Jacobs in this morning's Times reporting that Arsenal may spend £30m on a goalkeeper, defender and holding midfielder. He adds that they may sell players including Rosicky, Vermaelen and (interestingly) Cazorla.

£30m isn't enough to sign Morgan/Bender/Khedira plus two decent others, but they'd probably get ~£15m for Cazorla and ~£10m for Vermaelen.

That had better read £30 million each if they want to consider Schneiderlin and Chambers.

Badly. The idea that Shaw and Morgan can be replaced by target and reed next season is the quickest route to the championship. We are talking about two of the bets performing players in the league last season. We need to be bringing in some top notch replacements otherwise we will struggle IMO.

You know that, I know that but I was just being polite.:smug:

Arsenal to concentrate on Khedira as Schneiderlin is ruled out

This entry was posted in Arsenal News, Arsenal NewsNow, Arsenal rumours and tagged Khedira, Koeman, Schneiderlin on July 12, 2014 by admin.

If Arsenal could get Sami Khedira as well as Alexis Sanchez then this would just about qualify as the best transfer window ever for Gooners. The Metro is today reporting that Arsene Wenger could be pulling out of the deal as the German international wants a big hike in his wages, but surely with the amount of money Arsenal have in the kitty this summer we could afford to pay his demands, especially as it will practically guarantee us more trophies this season.

Some people will be thinking that Lars Bender may be more the type of player Arsenal need, but one thing seems to be sure; Morgan Schneiderlin will definitely not be coming to the Emirates, this summer at least. The Saints new manager Ronald Koeman insists that Southampton will not be selling any more of their players after the departures of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw from the club.

On Schneiderlin, Koeman plainly said: “The first meeting with (executive director) Les Reed was open and clear,” .

“I knew about Lambert, Lallana and Shaw but after that we said, ‘OK, we are not a selling club – we want to keep the rest of the good players and bring new players in’.

“We will continue with the Southampton philosophy which means we like to bring in young players and to continue what they did last season.

“They had a fantastic season last season and still we have ambition to go forward.”

“…….We don’t have any bids for Schneiderlin,” Koeman concluded.

“He is a Southampton player and he will stay a Southampton player.”

Personally Schneiderlin was my preferred defensive midfield target because of his excellent Premiership experience, but if we get Sami Khedira I won’t be too upset either!

Hopefully we can re name this thread.

Koeman / Les Reed - "Morgan knows what our position is and what our intentions are, and he is staying"

Made me laugh listening to Talksport (yes... yes...) yesterday.

"Arsenal really need to focus on someone defensive, like Morgan Schneiderlin who they could get quite cheaply."

Regardless of Ronald Koeman's excellent standpoint, Didn't they see how much we sold Lallana and Shaw for?

I notice that Schneiderlin has not returned to training to join up with the squad in Belgium - presumably because France remained in the World Cup until the Quarter Final stage. When would we expect him to be back? I'm guessing next week - from Monday 21 July. Anyone know for certain?

Koeman mentioned it in his press conference on Friday, due back two weeks today I believe.

He's got 2 weeks from the date they left the world cup I think!?

i'm itk on this and I heard that spurs were very reluctant and outright refused to begin advanced discussions unless Morgan started following them on twitter. They wanted Morgan to follow them so they could DM contract details.

Read into that what you will.....

He was following them for about 15 minutes, now unfollowed them cause of the backlash.

Did you look exactly when he supposedly followed them and time it then?

What is it with people and Twitter? I swear most people are complete simpletons.

1. So what if a footballer follows other teams. I follow companies I don't work for that are in my sector.

2. Bored people seem to enjoy making sh*t up on Twitter, it's really not difficult to do a cut and paste job on the image I saw in another thread that was made up.

Yawn.

Did I say it meant anything? Did I say it meant he was DEFINITELY signing for Spurs?

Not at all.

Did I merely share a piece of information with the rest of the Saints fans on this forum, yes.

Believe me or not I don't give a sh!t :D

The article makes no mention of Lars Bender who was reported at Arsenal's second target.

But agree with you, if Wenger comes calling then MS will not want to miss out on that move. And I doubt 'the Board' (ie Reed) will have the stomach to back Koeman and insist the player stays.

You can't stop a manager going there but there's no excuse in losing players to spurs. Maybe we can't compete with the top 4 and man utd but ultimately we do have to have ambitions to compete with Everton and spurs over the next few years, otherwise we'll quickly move backwards.

We can't compete with Spurs on wages. We just can't afford to pay players the 80-100k a week that they can

Saying that word at staplewood today is that he is gone, though thats not a normal contact and everyone is abroad. Also Lovren is potentially staying and Koemans already stacked his new range...

Again, Im not sure if I trust the source, but is from staplewood today (koeman has stacked the range rover though, the tit)

So be it. Just a shame (for us fans only I suppose) that the group couldn't stick together and potentially achieve something with Saints rather than go to ready made success. But that's football and won't change until a wage cap is introduced or FFP is scrapped, so I guess life goes on as normal.

Plus ça change.

Crapola ... this is the worst possible news.

He will be sold to Spurts with no sell on fee etc and will follow Mopo to Juventus / AC Milan or whoever it is and Spurs make a 15 million profit on the deal. ;-)

Did I say it meant he was being sold to Spurs?

He followed them on Twitter, loads of Saints fans went abe-sh!t, he unfollowed them and that's all there is to it (at the moment), he never explained what happened and tweeted a while after he was back home in Zellwiller.

Koeman was convinced he was staying at the press conference, that's good enough for me.

Bender doesn"t want to play for Arsenal.

Anyway as I've said all summer Morgan is as good as gone, got it from a bloke down at StE who actually was around the French group at Ribero Preto.

They think that they can get him for £15 million, but reckon that we want £18 million. We ought to tell them what we told Liverpool and Man Ure, that it is actually £30 million, also cash up front, hefty sell on percentage, take it or leave it. In my opinion, Schneiderlin is more valuable to us than Lallana and Shaw

Was he though? I've looked at the transcript on the OS and he really says nothing of the sort. He says he wants to keep all the players that we now have left but after that it's up to the board. As for Morgan is a and will be a Southampton player or whatever all that means basically is that simply projecting one day into the future makes it a statement

which is not false. I know what I've been told by a person who'd probably know what he was on about so to me what Koeman said on the subject is purely semantic.

I have to agree. And it is TRUE. I should know, because I post messages on the same internet forum as a bloke that claims he once met another bloke in a provincial town somewhere in France, who claimed the he once met some people who claimed that they had once been to the same training session as Morgan himself.

You can't get more bloody solid than that, can you?

That would be unfortunate for him then, still he can get a new one and not even worry about it.

That was the least interesting part of my conversations on site TBH, again though Im not entirely convinced by the rumour or the source, it wasnt someone I usually chat to regarding saints who I know is ITK, the guy is just a club employee. Nevertheless I thought it was worth posting up

Really hope we dont lose morgan

Were you told what you heard before or after Koeman and Schneiderlin spoke? Because while it may have been true at the time, things may have changed, it's been quite a while since the French were in Ribeirão Preto now...
