Gaston Ramirez

Black Sea Saint

Recommended Posts

Hopefully we see some more of the Gaston Ramirez we saw against Villa in the 4-1 home win, I think it was his home debut. He was unplayable that day.

Not the only time that Ramirez has shown up, either. Just needs some consistency and he can be as important to us as a Lallana or Rodriguez

Agreed - that match he was brilliant and we've seen flashes of it since. I do feel that Pochettino perhaps didn't favour him for whatever reason - probably just because Gaston didn't suit his style of play? Is there a Uruguay/Argentina rivalry?? (Clutching at straws with that one)

But hopefully we'll see him more next season, I really hope so - will be like having a brand new £12m player ;)

In his first year outperformed JRod on goals and assists per game, in his second season, never given a run of matches to produce any kind of form, but wasn't bad on the few occasions he played.

a lot of people seem to judge his ability mostly on his time out of the first team, which it don't entirely get. It's a bit speculative. If you didn't rate him on his first season, then do you think JRod should've been shipped out too?

The Ramirez camp seems totally split between people who were at St. Mary's that day and those that weren't!

The second half was the best individual performance I've ever seen from anyone in a Saints shirt, including Lambert or Le Tissier.

Ramirez didn't score, but he controlled everything. It was like watching Pirlo except he was running up and down and effortlessly beating players as well. Every single pass perfectly weighted. Final score could have been 6-1 if everyone took their chances.

It was a Premiership game and Ramirez looked like he was playing well below himself. Genuinely remember thinking he'd easily end up at a Barca or Real Madrid for ~£35m at the time at the time.

Meh...we were wrong in the end. But the ability that he has in his locker is something we wouldn't dream of p*ssing away if he were English.

One nice corner and all of a sudden the hype starts again.

He needs to kick a ball about and contribute for a full 90mins, I am afraid. Not 5 seconds.

one nice comment and all the shyte starts again. lets just see how he performs under the new team eh?

What a stupid comment. This lad looks absolute class for Uruguay, and as others have said, he's looked the same for us on occasions. Last season he was played irregularly, and rarely in his preferred position.

Given a run of games and some good man management, he could come good this season.

12 minutes of football at the WC... if he was absolute class, surely he'd be playing from the start.

Lallana got more minutes but England finished bottom, while Uruguay beat us and went through. Which team is a better standard? If you want to use world cup performance that is

Anyone that says he isn't a very good player and believes it knows f all about football and should probably take up tiddly winks or something. The guy clearly has talent and ability by the shedload, it just hasn't worked out well for him at Saints yet, for whatever reason. Personally I don't think his style is suited to our fast pressing game. I hope the new manager can make it work for him, particularly if we lose Lallana, as he could be a pivotal player for us.

Ask Phil Neville how good he is. Forgive me if I listen to his opinion over a bunch of internet supporters...

By your rationale Lambert isn't class either then.

GR is a good player. He's shown it for us and Uruguay.

So hes suddenly going to come good because of change of manager and change of team-mates. (is this another variation on "Everybody Else's Fault", perchance ?)

Utter rot. He may well p*ss Koeman off with his attitude and work-rate in his very first training session.

I have never said he isnt talented, but succeeding at the highest level needs more than natural raw talent.

He hasnt stood up and made himself counted in 2 seasons, and I see no evidence that he's going to bother now.

Really, getting all moist over one corner is utterly pathetic.

Do you ever smile? Or have you ever been positive about anything? Honestly, what is the point in you posting on here? Universal derision and you still don't get the picture that maybe it's you that doesn't know what he's talking about? I don't understand why you pay £5 to get bullied on here when you could go anywhere else and get it for free.

Absolutely. I would love nothing more then to see that player from that game return, it was the most exciting 45 minutes i've seen from any player in Saints colours. I hope the change in manager allows him to shine as he clearly was not happy under Pochettino.

Lambert, Lallana and Shaw must be dog too then....

That's not the point... the poster said he was absolute class for Uruguay, whereas he been selected for 12 minutes of WC football so its an inaccurate statement. MP also had the same opinion so he spent most of the season on the subs bench.

Sure he has natural ability but for posters on here to rant on about him after providing one good corner is quite frankly ludicrous.

He has potential to be a great player... no argument there... but will RK have the patience and willing to play him when MP would not.

This sentence is a classic forum ploy of constructing a piece of speculation and then pronouncing on it as though it were a fact.

Utter b*ll*cks.

Its simply pointing out a scneario under which the hoped-for (in some quarters) Gashton Renaissance wont happen.

So, just as equally, he may well impress the hell out of RK with skills and vision that very few of the team possess in his first training session

So clearly you're hoping he fails as in your quarter you're not hoping for his renaissance. How odd to hope a player from the team you claim to support fails.

I couldnt care less. He does, or he goes somewhere else to underachieve and we get rid of that financial millstone round our necks. I just dont want the club to tolerate the last 2 years of bullsh*t any further.

Although I'm a big fan of Ramirez, I'm kind of hoping that he fails, otherwise Alpine will look like a complete idiot:rolleyes:

Yes you do. You want him to fail, you said 'some quarters' are hoping for his renaissance, with your hilarious 'gashton' nickname and dismissal of people wanting him to achieve as talking 'utter bo***ocks' it's pretty evident that you want one of your own players to fail. How strange.
