Pierre Posted 30 June, 2014 Posted 30 June, 2014 Mexican left-sided defensive/midfield player Layún. Could be a buddy for Hernandez if the swap for Shaw happens. Layún woould definately be a good replacement for Shaw, especially in a 5-3-2 system
The9 Posted 30 June, 2014 Posted 30 June, 2014 I suppose having 2 J-Rods would be greedy, not to mention expensive. Given that Monaco paid €40m for him a year ago and also bought Falcao at the same time, I suspect they're not going to be selling.
The9 Posted 30 June, 2014 Posted 30 June, 2014 I wonder how much it would take to extract Joel Campbell from Arsenal? Incredible workrate, might not be out of the question if Wenger has the same attitude to him that Mourinho has to Lukaku... and his value is declining by the second at the moment but HCDAJFU...

Not exactly the same -in part, Wenger was forced to loan Campbell out because of work permit issues.
redkeith Posted 30 June, 2014 Posted 30 June, 2014 After watching the French game, can I add Valbeunna to the list. Fantastic crosser of the ball.
EBS1980 Posted 30 June, 2014 Posted 30 June, 2014 After watching the French game, can I add Valbeunna to the list. Fantastic crosser of the ball. He is having a fantastic World Cup
Noodles34 Posted 30 June, 2014 Author Posted 30 June, 2014 I'd take the Algerian goalkeeper and their beardy centre back anyday.
saint-crinny Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 Not sure if anyone has mentioned him yet so apologies if i missed it earlier in the thread, but Jose Holebas for Greece has looked great in every game and as we're minus a left back, would be a cracking signing. Strong quick, and a great delivery as well, which is probably the one area that Luke really lacked
S-Clarke Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 I think Rodriguez has been bloody good again for the Swiss. We could do a hell of a lot worse than to replace Shaw with him.
johnnyboy Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 What he said ! I think Rodriguez has been bloody good again for the Swiss. We could do a hell of a lot worse than to replace Shaw with him.
Window Cleaner Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 I think Rodriguez has been bloody good again for the Swiss. We could do a hell of a lot worse than to replace Shaw with him. We could have done it in January perhaps, now it's too late, everybody has seen he's as good as I said he is. We'll get a championship level LB, someone from an England Unders side.
S-Clarke Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 I'd have Marcos Rojo to replace Shaw. Not exactly realistic.
S-Clarke Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 I think this world cup shows exactly why you shouldn't buy players just based on a world cup. So many good players struggling, european teams full of players who'd be fantastic in our league, struggling. We'd love the entire spain reserve team, yet spain were poor. Are we to believe Costa Rica are amazing? Chile with their Cardiff, Forest or Wigan players should be snapped up? A lot of players play out of their skins for their countries, especially smaller nations. It's fantastic to see, but a lousy transfer strategy. I even remember, think it was 2002, when there seemed to be a lot of interest in Gary Breen based on his world cup. Another example is probably El-Hadj Douif . But Rodriguez has been class at club level for a few years too. Just seeing what he can do at the world stage now, as well as everyone else unfortunately.
Wrensup Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 Not exactly realistic. Oh yeah, because Rodriguez, Brahimi, and Valbuena aren't realistic either. Rojo plays for Sporting Lisbon, I would say The most likely club to sell.

Wrensup Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 Your stanzas need a bit of work, but overall that's promising. Well done. Why thank you! I actually cocked up the display settings to default mobile setting or something, so that explains the dodgy formatting.
nta786 Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 Well the Daily Mail linked Valbuena to West Ham hahahahahaha I don't get how he'd fit into their physical football loool
Vegas Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 I've been impressed with Jermaine Jones from the US. Morgan replacement?
SaintRobbie Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 Yedlin USA. Cracking against Belgium when given his chance. The sort of impact player from midfield we need. Would cost peanuts too.
Bakovnetski Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 This Origi looks a player Going to Liverpool apparently
st alex Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 Not from the world cup, but in terms of young English players would/could Eric Dier, Steven Caulker and Tom Ince be any good? We've not had a great track record at buying expensive exotic players and in recent years some of our best signings have been English players in their early 20s (e.g. J Rod, Clyne, Cork).
Saint Scott Posted 1 July, 2014 Posted 1 July, 2014 This Yedlin looks fantastic. Some serious energy too in extra time and his delivery is exceptional.
skintsaint Posted 2 July, 2014 Posted 2 July, 2014 Michael Bradley, what an engine Is he still at Roma?
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 2 July, 2014 Posted 2 July, 2014 Is he still at Roma? He joined FC Toronto for a fee of around $10m. I think he's good but his spell at Villa wasn't too impressive. That entire US team is filled with amazing athletes - wouldn't be surprised if Poch wanted a few of them at Spurs!
RAF Saint Posted 5 July, 2014 Posted 5 July, 2014 This would be a good move! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Badger Posted 5 July, 2014 Posted 5 July, 2014 Pablo Armero was on loan at West Ham towards the end of last season and failed to impress. As said below: I think this world cup shows exactly why you shouldn't buy players just based on a world cup. So many good players struggling, european teams full of players who'd be fantastic in our league, struggling. We'd love the entire spain reserve team, yet spain were poor. Are we to believe Costa Rica are amazing? Chile with their Cardiff, Forest or Wigan players should be snapped up? I even remember, think it was 2002, when there seemed to be a lot of interest in Gary Breen based on his world cup. I'd also be sceptical of South American signings given our previous experiences. Unless we're bringing inthe real top dollar signings which we won't be, we're likely to end up with a heap of trouble.
RAF Saint Posted 5 July, 2014 Posted 5 July, 2014 It's easy to write him off based on his stint at anti-football west ham! A left wing back with the pace and power he has may suit Koemans 5-3-2 formation? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
