Window Cleaner Posted 19 June, 2014 Posted 19 June, 2014 (edited) Wasnt Ochoa at Sunderland and barely played or am I going mental ? He's been at Ajaccio these last 3 years or so, might have been at Sunderland before that ..I don't know. He had good days and bad days at Ajaccio though, really nothing exceptional, mind you their side was generally weak last season, probably why they got relegated..Ochoa is now a free agent, his contract having expired. Before we make hasty conclusions about him being the best thing since sliced bread though we need to wait and see how he does against Croatia with their far more efficient strike force. Brazil were lucky that Mandzukic was suspended against them really. Edited 19 June, 2014 by Window Cleaner
Eastcowzer Posted 19 June, 2014 Posted 19 June, 2014 Wonder if we might look at Lens if Koeman comes in Look at Lens what ?
Window Cleaner Posted 19 June, 2014 Posted 19 June, 2014 Look at Lens what ? Jeremain Lens I presume, a perennial favourite on the forum every summer since the night of time.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 19 June, 2014 Posted 19 June, 2014 A player has 1 good game and suddenly everyone wants him #notoochoa
SaintSteve Posted 19 June, 2014 Posted 19 June, 2014 Perisic please Everton already interested... have to be quick which we are generally not.
Window Cleaner Posted 19 June, 2014 Posted 19 June, 2014 A player has 1 good game and suddenly everyone wants him #notoochoa Which of course is why he's out of contract with the relegated Ajaccio and yet no club seemed to be falling over themselves to sign him before Tuesday. He's hit and miss, same can be said about any goalkeeper really. Look at Jaskalainen against us at St Marys, didn't finish the season as Number 1 at West Ham though.
supersonic Posted 19 June, 2014 Posted 19 June, 2014 Wasnt Ochoa at Sunderland and barely played or am I going mental ? no that was Oscar Ustari. Very good 'keeper in his own right
Smirking_Saint Posted 19 June, 2014 Posted 19 June, 2014 no that was Oscar Ustari. Very good 'keeper in his own right Thats the one, basically I got all FM confused lol
sentry Posted 21 June, 2014 Posted 21 June, 2014 Emenike looks good vs BnH but maybe its the drreadful defence. Looks strong and fast though, makes smart runs.
John Boy Saint Posted 21 June, 2014 Posted 21 June, 2014 Emenike looks good vs BnH but maybe its the drreadful defence. Looks strong and fast though, makes smart runs. Can't argue with that certainly looks a bit of a handful, I bet Fenerbahce would be reluctant to lose him.
Graffito Posted 22 June, 2014 Posted 22 June, 2014 Behrami or Pjanic would be good replacements for Lallana. Not that we have any hope of getting one of them.
JoeShmoe Posted 22 June, 2014 Posted 22 June, 2014 The lad who came on from Ghana looked a good change of pace type wide player, another puncheon type maybe
OldNick Posted 22 June, 2014 Posted 22 June, 2014 None of them, the ones who would come to us are no good and players who shine don't always turn out any good either. Gerhinho looked good the only night ffs
SaintRobbie Posted 22 June, 2014 Posted 22 June, 2014 That Suarez looks worth a punt? How good would that be?! Perhaps Liverpool could trade him in for Lallana as a player swap plus £15m?
Lighthouse Posted 22 June, 2014 Posted 22 June, 2014 Brahimi looking the business for Algeria against S. Korea. No idea if he is any good but looking good tonight. 24 year old midfielder playing for Granada.
Bakovnetski Posted 23 June, 2014 Posted 23 June, 2014 Mexican left-sided defensive/midfield player Layún. Could be a buddy for Hernandez if the swap for Shaw happens.
Saint Garrett Posted 23 June, 2014 Posted 23 June, 2014 Actually quite like the look of Fabien Johnson for the US yesterday - thought he was decent, no idea who he plays for.
Lazlo78 Posted 24 June, 2014 Posted 24 June, 2014 Actually quite like the look of Fabien Johnson for the US yesterday - thought he was decent, no idea who he plays for. Good shout. He plays for Hoffenheim in Germany and played a blinder against Portugal.
verlaine1979 Posted 25 June, 2014 Posted 25 June, 2014 Besic having another very tidy game in midfield for Bosnia. Would be a like-for-like replacement for Schneiderlin if he leaves.
Bakovnetski Posted 25 June, 2014 Posted 25 June, 2014 This Messi bloke is quite impressive. Nah. Won't amount to much at a top club.
waylander Posted 25 June, 2014 Posted 25 June, 2014 Emenike looks good vs BnH but maybe its the drreadful defence. Looks strong and fast though, makes smart runs. Looked a handful against the Argies too
Toadhall Saint Posted 25 June, 2014 Posted 25 June, 2014 Nah. Won't amount to much at a top club. Too small.
mcjwills Posted 25 June, 2014 Posted 25 June, 2014 This Messi bloke is quite impressive. Think its only a mere £200m buyout in his contract, and £200k a week, no problem to our Kat.
Minsk Posted 25 June, 2014 Posted 25 June, 2014 Musa had a good game against the Argies, bagging a brace. Shaqiri scored a great first and decent second against Honduras.
St_Tel49 Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 That Suarez looks worth a punt? We'd be biting off more than we could chew with him!
saint_ed Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Interesting watching Frickson Erazo for Ecuador last night, we were linked with him quick heavily over the past season. He did well against the likes of Benzema, though unconvinced by his distribution.
StDunko Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 No more Ecuadorians please.... !! Tommy Forecast was English, should we therefore never sign any more Englishmen too?
The9 Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 That one Japan centre back is garbage, whoever signs him must be right mugs.
The9 Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Good shout. He plays for Hoffenheim in Germany and played a blinder against Portugal. Clyne would have been far more effective given the amount of space C Ronaldo was affording him by not tracking back. Chambers might even have been too.
The9 Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Emenike looks good vs BnH but maybe its the dreadful defence. Looks strong and fast though, makes smart runs. I thought he looked rubbish, like a less mobile Mayuka. Though the one thing this World Cup is showing is that hardly any favoured sides know how to defend any more, only underdogs.
The9 Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 Which of course is why he's out of contract with the relegated Ajaccio and yet no club seemed to be falling over themselves to sign him before Tuesday. He's hit and miss, same can be said about any goalkeeper really. Look at Jaskalainen against us at St Marys, didn't finish the season as Number 1 at West Ham though. Thing about Jaaskelainen was that he'd been doing that for a year at Bolton before they even sold him to West Ham...

Though the one thing this World Cup is showing is that hardly any favoured sides know how to defend any more, only underdogs. TBH Less anything than Mayuka is a very poor recommendation really.
The9 Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 TBH Less anything than Mayuka is a very poor recommendation really. Mayuka was definitely worth buying based on his 2012 African Cup of Nations winning performances for Zambia though, which is why the World Cup can be an absolute mug's game for making signings (and also why I've spent 6 months hoping Osvaldo and Gaston would play really well there).
Badger Posted 26 June, 2014 Posted 26 June, 2014 No more Ecuadorians please.... !! Tommy Forecast was English, should we therefore never sign any more Englishmen too? No, but just refuse to do any future business with THFC.
Smirking_Saint Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 One of the better young talents Ive seen this world cup is Origi at Belgium, strong, quick, good feet and very positive, at 19 I think he is well worth a punt
Joensuu Posted 27 June, 2014 Posted 27 June, 2014 Anyone think we could tempt Mertens? At 27 would he be too old for us?
Saint Scott Posted 28 June, 2014 Posted 28 June, 2014 Charles Aranguiz looks a class act and his work rate is exceptional. Only 25 years old and playing for Internacional in Brazil on loan from Udinese. Would love to see him in a Saints shirt
lickierambert Posted 28 June, 2014 Posted 28 June, 2014 Diaz for Chile looks quality, plays for FC Basel
OldNick Posted 28 June, 2014 Posted 28 June, 2014 Gary Maden(?) who plays for Cardiff is a warrior. Perhaps he would be a useful player, and of course is tested in the PL. Obviously injuries are a concern
Olallana Posted 28 June, 2014 Posted 28 June, 2014 Medel has been ridiculous good in the WC compared to what he was in PL, playing in different position though.....
Lord Duckhunter Posted 28 June, 2014 Posted 28 June, 2014 Very very risky buying players from the WC, look at that Gyan fella Sunderland bought. Too many players have the tournament of their lives and then are pretty average.
shurlock Posted 28 June, 2014 Posted 28 June, 2014 (edited) Very very risky buying players from the WC, look at that Gyan fella Sunderland bought. Too many players have the tournament of their lives and then are pretty average. Gyan was a class act, scored some great goals for Sunderland - just a bit of a c**t and buggered off as soon as some oil-rich backwater offered him more money. Edited 28 June, 2014 by shurlock
VectisSaint Posted 28 June, 2014 Posted 28 June, 2014 I suppose having 2 J-Rods would be greedy, not to mention expensive.
