H Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Bothwell Jesus ... I used to work in Bothwell St. Then again, that was a wee while back so I guess I'd have had more chance of bumping into you in Boscombe back then?
Dalek2003 Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 How come everyone is saying Koeman is our new manager ? I can't find anything in the media to say this is the case !
Coxford_lou Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 I enjoyed this link on Koeman, found on twitter http://www.benefoot.net/koeman-gave-feyenoord-its-pride-back/
Big Bad Bob Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Jesus ... I used to work in Bothwell St. Then again, that was a wee while back so I guess I'd have had more chance of bumping into you in Boscombe back then? you're misunderstanding him, when he said Bothwell he means he lives in both Hampden and Camden well!
Big Bad Bob Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Kind of find it interesting that no other clubs seemed to have gone for him, especially the bigger ones. His record in Holland has been decent (except AZ) but outside of there has been a bit dodgy. no other club went for MoPo until we took the punt on him!
Bucks Saint Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 How come everyone is saying Koeman is our new manager ? I can't find anything in the media to say this is the case ! BBC gossip page so it must be true
Bucks Saint Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 I enjoyed this link on Koeman, found on twitter http://www.benefoot.net/koeman-gave-feyenoord-its-pride-back/ Good read, thanks
Saint Fan CaM Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Well if it's true this could be excellent news...Koeman is a top appointment for Saints. I wonder what Lallana will say when he's asked about it? As team Captain and a key England player in Brazil, surely he will be asked his opinion?
eelpie Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 'Koooooooooooooeman you Saints' very good Koooooman, Kooooooman, Koom an you Saints!
SaintRobbie Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Koeman is a great name in the footballing fraternity. For Southampton To have got him is a huge achievement. This shouldn't be be underestimated. It's on par with signing keegan again..almost. He beat Yakin to the post. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The proof of course will be how many players respond and want to stay, then how many and who he brings in.
SaintRobbie Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 (edited) very good Koooooman, Kooooooman, Koom an you Saints! Or the Gary Glitter classic? Leader of the gang that he is. Koeman Koeman ... EBS1980 Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 We could have a dutch international dream team. Have Van der Saar as keeper coach, Bergkamp as assistant and Blind* as first team coach. *can help us get his son to join us too then :-)
Saint Martini Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Dutch media are picking up on it too though they are referring to media in the UK.
macca155 Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 BBC gossip page so it must be true Plenty of links and crucially nothing to say it isn't, which means a whole bunch of jounos are desperately trying to tie down (or destroy) the story right now. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/9348423/premier-league-dutch-legend-ronald-koeman-is-set-to-become-the-new-head-coach-of-Southampton http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/next-southampton-manager-set-ronald-3690634 http://talksport.com/football/reports-southampton-set-name-koeman-new-manager-14061396233 Yay we've got Ron manager.... "Oh, those Brazilians, you know? Circa 1970? Broke the mould. Theory out the window. Free expression of football. Uncategorisable. Is that a word? It is now! You know? Far cry from small boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts. Rush goalie. Two at the back, three in the middle, four up front, one's gone home for his tea. Beans on toast? Possibly, don't quote me on that. Marvellous." I'm not sure I'll be able to live the with the disappointment of it not being Ron now Anybody else playing a video in their mind of us beating Spurs and Liverpool and singing "you've bought our old ****" .... no just me then

Dodgy ground there, we could follow it up with '2 Little Boys' and finish off with the theme tune from Jim'll Fix It.
M271 Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 The proof of course will be how many players respond and want to stay, then how many and who he brings in. This.... I think that Lallana and Shaw's hearts are already elesewhere but hopefully any other waivering players can be 'sold' the new project and be persuaded to stay and move forward with the club. It will be tough to get players to want to stay who are offered a move to a champions league club and offered a substantial pay rise.
SNOWY Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Oh Ronald Koeman you are the love of my life Oh Ronald Koeman I'd let you **** my wife Oh Ronald Koeman I want ginger hair too oooh
Chicken With A Banjo Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Ex defender who scored a lot of goals and stood out at the highest level is someone Shaw in particular should be keen to learn from.
Turkish Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 How long before the Northam end tell him he looks like a wotsit?
SaintRobbie Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Dodgy ground there, we could follow it up with '2 Little Boys' and finish off with the theme tune from Jim'll Fix It. Lol. Or we could just find a cover version?
SaintRobbie Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Oh Ronald Koeman you are the love of my life Oh Ronald Koeman I'd let you **** my wife Oh Ronald Koeman I want ginger hair too oooh That's not bad. Although not sure the last line is necessarily true.

It will be tough to get players to want to stay who are offered a move to a champions league club and offered a substantial pay rise. It's actually easy to get them to stay. They are under contract.

EBS1980 Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Was just chatting to a feyonord fan and asked him a bit about Koeman; tactical he is great. In his first year at Feyenoord we won all the big games because he was making smart tactical changes. He wants to play attractive football, but if necessary he can make changes. End of this season Feyenoord played some difficult away games with 5 defenders to have more control. At his last interview as coach of Feyenoord he said that he really wants to buy our striker Graziano Pelle at his new club. All sounds good. If anyone would like me to ask anything else just ask.
SaintRobbie Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 That's why Saints beat Tottenham, That's what's it's like to feel sore, We sign Koeman you sign Pottechino, Pottechino.
ericofarabia Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Stick to Full Mooning ART. Rule 1 does not apply here please!!

Please tell us anything else! Anything. Like the fact he can create tactical options, a MoPo failing for me. 5 defenders? Lovren going nowhere then!
SNSUN Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 If anyone would like me to ask anything else just ask. Does he like a shmoke und a pancake. You know, a flapjack und a shigarette? No? Shigar und a waffle? No? Pipe und a crepe? No? Bong und a blintz? No? Well, then there ish no pleashing him.

What's the liklihood of Koeman bringing a couple of the youngsters from Feyenoord with him, one of the CB's in particular ?
EBS1980 Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 pelle is 6'4 apparently and scored and set up loads for feyonord last season apparently ( sound familiar?) although lost the captaincy due to his temper and reaction after being sent off ( sound familiar?) Just asking about De Vrij Martins Indl and Caise now
itchen_dan Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 pelle is 6'4 apparently and scored and set up loads for feyonord last season apparently ( sound familiar?) although lost the captaincy due to his temper and reaction after being sent off ( sound familiar?) Just asking about De Vrij Martins Indl and Caise now Reportedly very similar to Lambert in the fact he wins headers, strikes a clean ball, holds it up but is also incredibly mobile. Puts the running in, Bit of pace and can get in behind. Sounds perfect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Only downside being that he has never scored goals in a league of a standard near the PL and is nearly 29 so quite a risk at the reported £8-10m.

Bewildered Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Who has seen Pelle play? How good is he? If we do sign him I hope we sign another striker. You can't pin all your hopes on 1 striker from a lesser league, need to hedge our bets a little. Pelle and Ings would be great business IMO. Selling Lambert and Osvaldo we could get both for a reasonable outlay you'd hope. Would still love to see Afellay come in and prove his fitness though. All the ability to replace Lallana just needs games. I would like to see him get De Vrij if he wants to poach some of his old players http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomercato/feyenoords-de-vrij-scored-in-his-world-cup-debut-lazio/ According to Di Marzio, Feyenoord only want 9m euros for him.
EBS1980 Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Martins Indl didn't have a great season and was lucky to make the squad. Thinks Claise and De Vrij will leave after the worldcup. Lazio have been monitoring Claise lots last season
EBS1980 Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 He wasn't sure as two coaches have signed new deals so unlikely to now leave. Thinks he will have to start with new staff.

EBS1980 Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 (edited) De Vrij he thinks if he continues to improve could be one of the best in Europe in a few years. Says he might not be physical enough yet for the EPL. Thinks Claise to us would be a good move for him Edited 14 June, 2014 by EBS1980
Saints foreva Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 I think I saw something yesterday saying that Leicester were going to bid £8m for that Pelle.

SaintRobbie Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 Out of interest how many of the Dutch team who thrashed Spain yesterday played for Koeman? I think most of the defence and midfield?
EBS1980 Posted 14 June, 2014 Posted 14 June, 2014 would these players come though? surely likely to have other offers on the table He wasn't sure because didn't know too much about us. Said there are some good youngsters Koeman might like to bring, Depay, Klaassen, Boetius, Vilhena and Promes also have a good future and will attract attention.
