Even though Koeman's good I'd be kinda dissapointed if it's not Mancini now we've been semi linked with him.

And yet David Villa said that he owes Pellegrini for changing City to a passing game in which he flourished. Mancini hardly represents the Southampton way.

I think that I might be in a minority of one who wouldn't be upset to see Bruce here. Not my first choice, that's Zidane, not my second choice of the Cowman, but if he is chosen by those that choose, then so be it. Not sure off the top of my head, that I would want any other British manager (including Moyes who I think really needs a bit of time off).

Enough is enough. Announcement tomorrow please Les Reed. This is getting ridiculous.

What's more I want Koeman to start by saying there will be no transfers until he has assessed our players. I want to see some leadership. Had enough now.

I feel humiliated by Liverpools tapping up of our players. As I watch Lovren at the WC I don't know whether to cheer him on or not.

Inactivity is ruining enjoyment of the game.

Cheer for Lovren, either he stays a Saint and we´ll be proud of him or his value will go up closer to £20m...

Villa's never played for City? I'm not arsed about his style of play, he'd be a massive boost to the status of the club which is the most important thing atm.

Why? Saints probably delayed announcement until WC underway and word is we will hear something early next week.

Well either he agreed it all last Monday when he was interviewed or he hasnt been speaking to the club, at least not face to face since then.

Koeman still in Turkey. If its him that is our preferred candidate then surely he would have cut that short by now?

Could have agreed earlier and letting lawyers do the contract ready.....those take more time than people think.

How can you not be arsed about the playing style ? Surely it's fundamental to our club, from the academy teams up ? I'd much rather have a bright young manager who has overachieved on limited resources playing good attacking, possession-based football but not necessarily won anything than have a big name manager who hasn't needed to be so tactically adroit because they've had large resources. Just look at what Rodgers, Martinez and our own Poch achieved last season. Yakin or Tuchel for me but I'd also be happy with Koeman as he seems to have a good mix of tactical awareness, adventurous football, youth development and is also a world-renowned name in the game. Definitely don't want a manager who is just a big name but will not fit in with the Southampton Way though.

Great post.

Mancini would be by horrible IMO but apparently he was spoken to on Monday and looks nailed on.

Does anyone really believe that in the past 6 months when we assessed the upcoming Managers and Coaches, planning for the post MP transition, that Mancini's name was even mentioned? I certainly don't.

Reed said the final four were all on their initial list which IMO rules out Mancini. He will go to another team playing European football. Would be beyond amazed if either a.) He has been our no 1 for months or b.) He would even consider it.

I'm not sure. We upgraded Pardew and Adkins which suggests that we've been monitoring coaches, so its likely that we've had a list of names in case we were upgraded, which we have been.

Like you though, I think it unlikely that Mancini was in our initial four. My guess is we've been blown out and have turned to a plan b who is a "name". Touchel or Yakin would have carried on from where MoPo left off. Mancini won't IMO.

Reed said it was fairly far down the line, just paperwork to do and that it was one of the top four.

Won't be Mancini.
