DT Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Can we announce a new manager in the half-time ad break during Brazil-Croatia please. Classy ad. Good music. Thanks.
DANISH Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Ronald Koeman is simply held by Southampton on a leash
St Jim Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Whatever..... Zeepaardje @Ramboela 2h Ronald Koeman wordt door Southampton gewoon aan het lijntje gehouden Translated from Dutch by BingRonald Koeman by Southampton just put Translated means "Ronald Koeman is simply held by Southampton on a leash"
Pastor Patrón Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Even though Koeman's good I'd be kinda dissapointed if it's not Mancini now we've been semi linked with him.
stknowle Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Translated means "Ronald Koeman is simply held by Southampton on a leash" Ooooh kinky!!
saint francis Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 So long as he sits and stays, we can give it a few more days.
SNSUN Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 So long as he sits and stays, we can give it a few more days. I'll give him a Bonio if he puts pen to paper.
derry Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Even though Koeman's good I'd be kinda dissapointed if it's not Mancini now we've been semi linked with him. And yet David Villa said that he owes Pellegrini for changing City to a passing game in which he flourished. Mancini hardly represents the Southampton way.
Nolan Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Translated at babylon it comes out as "Ronald Koeman is just put off by Southampton" Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
angelman Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 I think that I might be in a minority of one who wouldn't be upset to see Bruce here. Not my first choice, that's Zidane, not my second choice of the Cowman, but if he is chosen by those that choose, then so be it. Not sure off the top of my head, that I would want any other British manager (including Moyes who I think really needs a bit of time off).
tisspahars Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 I'll give him a Bonio if he puts pen to paper. And vice versa I dare say....
SNSUN Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Martinez just signed a 5 year deal at Everton. Strange timing of that announcement!
SaintRobbie Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Enough is enough. Announcement tomorrow please Les Reed. This is getting ridiculous. What's more I want Koeman to start by saying there will be no transfers until he has assessed our players. I want to see some leadership. Had enough now. I feel humiliated by Liverpools tapping up of our players. As I watch Lovren at the WC I don't know whether to cheer him on or not. Inactivity is ruining enjoyment of the game.

Cheer for Lovren, either he stays a Saint and we´ll be proud of him or his value will go up closer to £20m...
Saint Charlie Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Koeman still in Turkey. If its him that is our preferred candidate then surely he would have cut that short by now?
Pastor Patrón Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 And yet David Villa said that he owes Pellegrini for changing City to a passing game in which he flourished. Mancini hardly represents the Southampton way. Villa's never played for City? I'm not arsed about his style of play, he'd be a massive boost to the status of the club which is the most important thing atm.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Koeman still in Turkey. If its him that is our preferred candidate then surely he would have cut that short by now? Why? Saints probably delayed announcement until WC underway and word is we will hear something early next week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Saint Charlie Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Why? Saints probably delayed announcement until WC underway and word is we will hear something early next week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Well either he agreed it all last Monday when he was interviewed or he hasnt been speaking to the club, at least not face to face since then.
doggface Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 And yet David Villa said that he owes Pellegrini for changing City to a passing game in which he flourished. Mancini hardly represents the Southampton way. Eh? Assume you mean silva?
Olallana Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Koeman still in Turkey. If its him that is our preferred candidate then surely he would have cut that short by now? Could have agreed earlier and letting lawyers do the contract ready.....those take more time than people think.
Suhari Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Koeman still in Turkey. If its him that is our preferred candidate then surely he would have cut that short by now? Or he wants to finish his holiday before jumping into a busy 11 months of work?
SaintRobbie Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Koeman in turkey.no big jobs available there! Wasn't he linked to Galatasaray the other day?
Saint Charlie Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Or he wants to finish his holiday before jumping into a busy 11 months of work? Not when so much is happening in the background. Doesn't add up for me. I reckon he is out of the running.
Batman Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Or he wants to finish his holiday before jumping into a busy 11 months of work? if fabregas can sign for chelsea whilst in brazil, im sure a new manager can sign for saints whilst on holiday
peacey Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Intresting.... I would love it if we got De Boer though-**** you spuds!
Saint Charlie Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Don't think we will go for anyone who is in work, and if it were someone like FBD it would have come out by now, from the Dutch end.
peacey Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Yes agree Saint Charlie. Would have been great though....
Gorgiesaint Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Don't think we will go for anyone who is in work, and if it were someone like FBD it would have come out by now, from the Dutch end. Sure I heard earlier that Talksport were interviewing FDB on the Sports Breakfast tomorrow - no idea what time.

peacey Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 No, Spurs turned him down. Link was only there to get Pochettino to pay ourt his contract. Ok mate.
Saint Charlie Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Yes agree Saint Charlie. Would have been great though.... For sure. IMO it will be someone who hasn't been mentioned a lot, like when MP took over.
Wade Garrett Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Sure I heard earlier that Talksport were interviewing FDB on the Sports Breakfast tomorrow - no idea what time. They interviewed Benitez this morning. Maybe Les set it all up and whoever does the best gets the job.
baggytrousers Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Villa's never played for City? I'm not arsed about his style of play, he'd be a massive boost to the status of the club which is the most important thing atm. How can you not be arsed about the playing style ? Surely it's fundamental to our club, from the academy teams up ? I'd much rather have a bright young manager who has overachieved on limited resources playing good attacking, possession-based football but not necessarily won anything than have a big name manager who hasn't needed to be so tactically adroit because they've had large resources. Just look at what Rodgers, Martinez and our own Poch achieved last season. Yakin or Tuchel for me but I'd also be happy with Koeman as he seems to have a good mix of tactical awareness, adventurous football, youth development and is also a world-renowned name in the game. Definitely don't want a manager who is just a big name but will not fit in with the Southampton Way though.

Mancini would be by horrible IMO but apparently he was spoken to on Monday and looks nailed on.
Saint Charlie Posted 12 June, 2014 Posted 12 June, 2014 Does anyone really believe that in the past 6 months when we assessed the upcoming Managers and Coaches, planning for the post MP transition, that Mancini's name was even mentioned? I certainly don't. Reed said the final four were all on their initial list which IMO rules out Mancini. He will go to another team playing European football. Would be beyond amazed if either a.) He has been our no 1 for months or b.) He would even consider it.

We upgraded Pardew and Adkins which suggests that we've been monitoring coaches, so its likely that we've had a list of names in case we were upgraded, which we have been. Like you though, I think it unlikely that Mancini was in our initial four. My guess is we've been blown out and have turned to a plan b who is a "name". Touchel or Yakin would have carried on from where MoPo left off. Mancini won't IMO.

Won't be Mancini.
