St Chalet Posted 31 May, 2014 Share Posted 31 May, 2014 So that is Lovren, Schneiderlin, Big Vic and Steve Davis in the press saying that they are not angling for a move. Just waiting for our captain to do the same.

Just waiting for our captain to do the same. Schneiderlin said he wants to play for a CL team though? Lovren being professional but once something concrete comes up and others have gone his opinion may well be different.
Baird of the land Posted 31 May, 2014 Share Posted 31 May, 2014 Nice words. Can't help but think that if Tottenham lodge a bid we'll suddenly hear how unhappy he is and how if Saints don't do a deal quickly they risk a relationship breakdown. We need action on the manager front and begin to make it appear we are in control of transfers.

SaintRobbie Posted 1 June, 2014 Share Posted 1 June, 2014 Lambert said he'd be happy to finish his career at Saints. And Steve Gerrard no doubt told him he'd be happier to finish his career at Liverpool.

Just waiting for our captain to do the same. To be fair Lallana has only ever said he wants to be at Saints and is happy. He has never said he wants to leave. He has been misquoted in the press on Europe etc etc. he's been professional. If I was Adam Lallana I'd be saying to myself 'I'm playing for England and captain of a top end Premier League club, so if I stay and don't join the top 4 or 6 who cares?' Lads a professional. If I was Les Reed I'd be complaining to Roy Hodgson about rumours of Gerrard tapping up our players though.

Professor Posted 1 June, 2014 Share Posted 1 June, 2014 Lambert said he'd be happy to finish his career at Saints. But the club now claim that if they had told Lambert that a decision to let him leave could not be made prior to the World Cup, the relationship between player and club would have broken down irretrievably. Lambert could have been told that he was too important to Saints to make a rushed decision, that the new manager's view was needed and that he wasn't as important to Liverpool as he was to us because if he didn't sign now, they'd sign someone else. If Reed and Kruguer had wanted to keep Rickie they could have done but the logical conclusion is that they wanted the money more, even the paltry sum they got for him. Do you not think the damage was already done anyway, with Rickie reported to be halfway up the M3 towards the East End of London in January? Why is that the logical conclusion? As you say, in the crazy world of football finance, it's a paltry sum. I don't think the money is the motivator. I think it's more a combination that Rickie stands out as not being the young, energetic, chasing player that the club favours and that, for him, this is a dream move to a club he loves. Had it been any other team I think our board would have resisted at least until after the World Cup and the appointment of a new manager. Players move on. I'm sad to see him go but don't begrudge him the chance. Let's see who we bring in before we condemn everyone.
