Saint-Beer Posted 31 May, 2014 Share Posted 31 May, 2014 This is a good read and very true of our situation, http://thepremierleagueowl.com/southampton-being-punished-for-progress/
macca155 Posted 31 May, 2014 Share Posted 31 May, 2014 I particularly liked "Southampton, Everton, Newcastle, Tottenham…all these teams are in the same situation. They can all attempt to establish themselves at the top of the game, but they’ll never actually do it: without making a quantum leap in status or without becoming the apple of a billionaire’s eye" A few years ago we would never have been compared to those three, perhaps we've made progress regardless
parkgatesaint Posted 31 May, 2014 Share Posted 31 May, 2014 I am afraid that I have to agree with the article….there is a glass ceiling which we have flown up against this season, big time and at the moment it feels like we are floating down with a big bump on our head as players are and will be picked off. positivepete Posted 31 May, 2014 Share Posted 31 May, 2014 This article better describes our situation than some of the hysteria on this site
Manuel Posted 31 May, 2014 Share Posted 31 May, 2014 I think contracts need to be respected though. If a player signs for 4 years then he should accept that, relegation aside, they will be there for that period, unless the club wants them gone. I don't fully accept that if a more successful club comes in that we should just roll over. The only reason we should sell is if we've overspent and need the cash, and you can only blame the club for that. Any player worth his salt won't deteriorate on the pitch because he's sulking that he can't go to Spurs, if he does it's his only his own career he's damaging, he should work that out soon enough. martel Posted 31 May, 2014 Share Posted 31 May, 2014 This is a good read and very true of our situation, http://thepremierleagueowl.com/southampton-being-punished-for-progress/ Not only agree, but have posted simular views on here, it is getting for me at least to the point that I am not sure I want to follow football period, I long for the times that Forest got promoted and won Div 1, that has been made an impossible dream, all that has been achieved with the premiership is something we all have critised for years, our very own version of the Scottish Premiership, the only difference is that at least we have four teams in with any chance as opposed to there now one since the demise of Rangers, FIFA's fair play has more holes in it then a poxy cullender, ie the ETHIAD Stadium, sorry but big money as I am sure you all know has taken the game over, but like most I really got behind the Southampton way, but as the article shows it will be snakes and ladders and fast running out of ladders, or as I would prefer to say "A one legged man in a arse kicking contest".
