Saint-Beer Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 What with all the player transfer talk, lambert going to Liverpool and poch leaving, does any feel they can't face watching England tonight? To be reminded how great AL, LS and SRL are? To hear the commentators bang on how could are players are and moving to "better" things?
cellone Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Looking forward to it. Eager to take in the plaudits our great club is earning it's self.
Saint J 77 Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 What with all the player transfer talk, lambert going to Liverpool and poch leaving, does any feel they can't face watching England tonight? To be reminded how great AL, LS and SRL are? To hear the commentators bang on how could are players are and moving to "better" things? I haven't really been that bothered about watching an England game since the late 90'es. Since Lambert got in the England team, I start to regain an interest for obvious reasons. Now Rickie has gone and the Adam and Luke are nailed on to leave, I really couldn't give a toss about England. I'm more concerned about what going to happen to Saints right now.
John Boy Saint Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 The queue at Currys in Southampton tomorrow for replacement TV after the blathering Taters on ITV rubbing salt into our wounds just that one time too many.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 (edited) Forget it, lost all interest No doubt it will be full of (insert name) will be a liverpool/utd player soon.. Edited 30 May, 2014 by ALWAYS_SFC
WealdSaint Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 I had looked forward to watching 3 of our players in the team. But after the RL news and knowing that LS & AL are pretty certain to follow them, I just don't want to watch. At least Have I got News For You is on the other side
Dazza82 Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Well the rumour is that shaw has got a "cold" so wont play, i reckon he is more than likely at old trafford having a medical Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Deanovski Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 This was the first world cup I was actually excited to watch England and now i could really care less, if they leave.
Window Cleaner Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Well the rumour is that shaw has got a "cold" so wont play, i reckon he is more than likely at old trafford having a medical Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk wouldn't be allow on a match day, now resting up for his medical tomorrow with a few spoons of calpol that's more likely.
SO16_Saint Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Come on England. Lallana for the time being is a saints player.... Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Jonnyboy Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 If all three went to Liverpool then the England 1st team could virtually all be scousers for some matches. I'm going to miss hearing Saints fans chanting 3-0 to Ingerland etc etc. *SOBS*
Batman Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 welbeck looks like he should be in a mid 1980's american sitcom
Batman Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 depressingly, a huge gap between midfield and attack. gerrard or henderson are already at 50 yard pass stage of the game
SO16_Saint Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Any faint hope of england doing anything remotely positive in Brazil is being wiped out by this dour performance here
shurlock Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Glen Johnson ponderous in possession not looking up for Lallana, checking back and slowing everything down.
Monk Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 The thing I find most bizarre about England and tournament football is we never go out to attack. Always pedestrian and cautious. Okay it worked for the Italians but it hasn't for us. Why cant we go out and play to win each game? After all football is an invasion game and you can't win the world cup by drawing.
Saint_clark Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 People forgetting it's a friendly it seems - and the first game anyones played for a few weeks. England are looking a bit sharper the last few minutes. They'll look much better in the second half.
igsey Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 If this were a club, Clyne would walk into the starting line up. Also, why Welbeck ahead of Stirling? With that change I'd expect this to be the starting team in Brazil.
Saint_clark Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Surprised the ref didn't disallow that with two balls on the pitch. Great goal.
St Marco Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Good goal there. Has Well**** even touched the ball yet?
BotleySaint Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Cracking goal from sturridge. Need him to get confident! Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk
The Kraken Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Good goal there. Has Well**** even touched the ball yet? I was going to ask if Lallana had. What an awful game of football this is.
S-Clarke Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 This is pretty pants to be honest. No one looks any good.
SO16_Saint Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 substitution at half time. I'm watching "the story of women and art" on bbc2 Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
BotleySaint Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Rooney probably the quietest player on the pitch. I though he said he wanted to prove his doubters wrong? Barely seen him make an effort.
The Kraken Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 This is even more boring than a pre-season Saints game. And that's an extremely low benchmark.
Matthew Le God Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 UKIP England fans booing the Peruvian national anthem. Coming over here, stealing our marmalade!
Convict Colony Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 personally this is a terrible game but I understand the commentators have to talk it up. Let me know if you think England can keep the ball for more than 20 secs cos Gerrard and Henderson seem to think they are Pirlo and start launching balls down the channel without finding a runner, its like watching league 2, pass it around lads. This is terrible football, we got lucky from a throw in, great finish though, Glen Johnson is embarrassing and if anyone here thinks that based on this 1st half our play is going to beat costa rica let alone Italy I will have whatever your having. Really disappointed at mo, lets hope something changes.
The Kraken Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Johnson is pure poo. Even worse. If he gets injured our only other "options" are Phil Jones, Chris Smalling or James Milner. It's a bit like watching Maya Yoshida at left back. That worked well....
doddisalegend Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Sturbridge's goal a side what an absolute bore fest this game is. Adam not exactly setting the world on fire and both Clyne and chambers are an improvement on Glen Johnson
Convict Colony Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 is this a cunning tactic from Ralph to make our players seem **** ?

Saint Billy Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Cant expect them to go out all guns blazing though, no one wants to get injured and miss a golden opportunity. Strange watching AL with the probability he will not be a saint soon.
doddisalegend Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Friendlies are so pointless at that speed of match. Get more from training games. But then we're supposed to be practicing patient possession. Not sure England fans will ever get that. You can feel the 'get it forward, get stuck in, shooooot' default of half the stadium. Saints have been playing possession football all season and was it never this slow and boring
NI Saint Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 What's the score? I decided a beer fest here in Berlin was a better way to spend my time than worry about an England friendly.
BotleySaint Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Strange watching AL with the probability he will not be a saint soon. It changes everything. Totally different mood in this house. It's back to being just England rather than our lads. Even though he's not gone yet!
Saint Billy Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 It changes everything. Totally different mood in this house. It's back to being just England rather than our lads. Even though he's not gone yet! Yep, with you on that.
Batman Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Johnson is by a mile the worst England player Sturridge best tonight
Saint Billy Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 England are a couple of Lallanas short of a team I suppose we will just have to produce more.
Wrensup Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 It changes everything. Totally different mood in this house. It's back to being just England rather than our lads. Even though he's not gone yet! My sentiments exactly.
Convict Colony Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 and to think some people put forward Woys name on the MP replacement thread. Could you imagine Saints playing like this every week...... As I've declared somewhere else on something else but it is still applicable here I will commit suicide by wine if Roy becomes our manager
sandwichsaint Posted 30 May, 2014 Posted 30 May, 2014 Much better when Lallana comes central, he's a far better play maker than Rooney (who's not a play maker at all). Shaw and either of Clyne or Chambers would add massively to this side. Bet Welbeck lives in a cul-de-sac.
