That statement is pure, unadulterated americano-politico corporate bullsh!t. Seen it a million times before, will see it a million times again. It means the exact opposite of what it says. It means finance before football. There's no shame in that, but there's every shame bull****ting to us about it.

It's been obvious that this is going to happen since, probably, early April.

I can assure everyone that MP loved it here, so did his staff....and if the club demonstrated the willingness to carry on the good work and the ambition...then he'd have stayed. But he wants to manage in Europe, he's good enough to do so - if we continued the same ambition that could have happened here, as we were onto a good thing.

I just get the feeling that the board have been wandering around with their fingers in their ears going ''lalalalalalalla'' for the last few months, and they'll probably continue the same way.

Positive thoughts, Ron, but who will be making those shrewd decisions: Les Reed? Nobody else has got any knowledge, and I don't trust LR to land us anything apart from the usual suspects with no understanding of the modern game and with as much charisma and vision as LR himself. I have a feeling that we are in a bigger mess than we thought.
As your previous post said Bert, we may have no one to carry out such an important decision.

I'm pretty sure Les Reed was at he club when we hired Adkins and Pochettino.

Next season is now about consolidation. If we finish 10th or better, the new manager, whomever he will be, will have done a fantastic job.

id love it if we finished above Spurs though!

I would take 17th right now.

I hope your wrong! Even if the new board treated SFC purely as a business you are going to have to make a shrewd appointment to ensure the value of the business is maintained or improved as opposed to devalued, so not sure the digits in lug holes will last much longer

Good luck to him, I expect him to last about 8 months, now I wold laugh if we get FDB as our manager, but hayho onwards and upwards

So would I. Will be much tougher than the peak this year. Major rebuild and depends entirely on the quality of the management/coaching team.

What a huge blow this is to the club. I am now fearing the worse. I think the players will see this as a huge step backwards after NC leaving and now Poch.

The rebuilding starts here and I feel, it is back to a scrap for premier league survival, rather than looking to break into the top 6.

I was hoping out of all hope that he would stay and was convincing myself that he was, but after NC left, my fears are being realised with Poch following and now I think the main core of the team.

It has been a fantastic 5 years, but I have a terrible feeling it is coming to an end!

A really good, experienced manager can steady the ship and ensure our premier survival. It has to be Hoddle, who has unfinished business at Saints.

A word of advice, it's probably not quite the right moment to restart your bolloax drivel about Hoddle

I have heard the board are sticking by their promise not to sell anyone Potchitino did not want sold, problem is he wants Shaw, Chambers, Lovren, Adzs, Morgan & Rodriguez sold to Spuds

Dalek you sure know how to cheer me up with you optimism on Hoddle on a dreary day ?

Was that why he said he wasn't interested in the Europa league?

He wants to manage in the CL, but he'll have to go via the Europa league first - Spurs is a good fit to get him there if we're honest. More of a chance than he'd have here.

I remember this being invoked a while back, if Pochettino is no longer here they can sell whoever they like without welshing on their statements. Must have known he was going then and played the smart arses. Mind you some of our public deserve to get crapped on like that, most lapped up the free parking, the open letters, Le Tissier back in grace and selling the banned books again. Proved themselves to be easily pandered to, look where it's got them.

He'll have a squad there, rather than a team and a few misfits to back it up.

More of chance, yes, but still bloody difficult. You have to finish higher than two from Man C, Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. All of which will be stronger next season.

If it has gone, will you stop supporting us? Please?

I'm sure that might be used as a smokescreen to justify his lack of loyalty, but don't think anything has materially moved with regards what our budgets were since his arrival.

And the same with regards players, in that we don't want and have to sell, but it would be impossible to say we would be able to keep everyone (as his walking away from a contract has proved).

He had a £2m escape clause in his contract, doubt the players have.

So basically he was never going to stay we have next to no chance of CL, outside chance at Europa perhaps, If Europe was his dream saints was always the wrong club for him and the board had no chance.

Can't read that.

Thank you for the memories, it has been an amazing journey

good luck and hope you prosper in the future (along those lines)

Does he hope the team prospers before or after he has tried to nick our best players.................truly he can **** off

Yeah. I've always thought he had chubby cheeks too, like a big hairy baby.

Posted

to all those slating him for using us as some sort of stepping stone.....well, the same can be said for many of our squad, Jrod, Morgan, Wanyama, Lovren, clyne

What's the odds on clauses in a couple of key contracts??

And whilst I take your point, in that it might be possible to play it a bit more hard ball if a player pushes for a move (aka Suarez), the reality is that most eventually get there move if they really push it.

Never gave a flying f_uck about the club, used us as a stepping stone to go onto somewhere bigger, Hoddle Mk. 2.

Good riddens.

like most of our players, then?

Football is a cutthroat business, we need to show some inner steel now, something that has been missing since the Don did one.

Is that the same Don who let oxo go at the first attempt, or the one who came within a whisker of flogging Lambert to WHU or the one that allegedly tried to sack mopo at Christmas before senior players intervened on mopos behalf..........

Where did this sack mopo rumour come from?

Lets be honest every player we have had bar one who was any good did exactly the same and will do in the future.

The same will apply to any new manager that does well. People need to face facts here and stop all the toy throwing. We are not and never will e in a position to challenge the big boys thus anybody who does well for us will be off.

Poch did well and possibly raised the value of some of our players which the club will sell this summer, I hope they don't but the reality is we will not keep hold of them.

Maybe the board don't have a clue but I doubt they could keep him if the spuds are offering much better options.

People need to chill and lets see what happens, if we appoint a Hughton or the like then we could be in trouble.
