Is Les Reeds football power the catalyst, for all the disarray at the club right now?

Is Les Reeds alleged sacking of Jason Dodd and Paul Williams, the catalyst for all the turmoil and disarray at the club? The man, for some one who has never reached any great heights in club football, has an awful lot of football power at the club.

The decision, was a massive own goal, which is likely to have far reaching consquences for the club. If Pochitino wants to go to Spurs, that is his call, but with Les Reed likely to have a large say on any new manager coming in, god help us, especially with Alan Curbishley still out of work.

For the record, I am a big fan of Katharina Liebherr and have nothing but praise for what hewr family have done for the club.

You mean like when we hired Adkins and Pochettino under his watch? God help us indeed.

he is in italy at the moment so i wonder who giving poch permission to speak with spurs and negotiating his exit fee

So Ralph is in Canada, Les is in Italy...and our manager is at WHL.

I hope Gareth Rogers, or Hans whatshisname has got a handle on it.

Reed is the only one I would trust to make a football decision.

I'd trust him with the Football Development Centre.

I'm absolutely ****ting myself at him being the leading light in naming a successor, transfers, and contract negotiations.

And he may well be a few weeks away from being made to look a right plonker if any players leave.

What a complete **** up the last couple of months have been.

Way to ruin a few years of good work.

Managers and players coming and going is a part of life. I'm not too bothered about all that. What I do find a bit weird is the structure of the new Board.

The CEO was the CFO who had previously handed in his notice (apparently). He is familiar with Saints but has no experience of the CEO role or of football outside Saints.

The Chairman is a hockey guy who doesn't know anything about football, but in fairness he said he will leave all sporting matters to the Sporting Director and his focus appears to be on the club as a whole. So good on one hand he won't get involved in something he knows nothing about, but then again is it not concerning that we have someone leading our club who hasn't got a clue about football?

There is an Austrian lawyer / ex-agent on the Board, no-one knows what he does, but he did pipe up that we had a difficult financial situation which appeared to be ill-thought and wrong.

And then there is Les Reed who appears to have gained in power and has certainly found his public voice. A man who once said he wouldn't mind Managing again (while at Saints) now appears to be responsible for ALL matters football at Southampton. In the last month we've seen two Youth Coaches sacked which has been an unpopular decision, public statements of no players being sold, and a Manager on the verge of leaving us for Spurs.

Now as I said, players and Managers come and go. But what is it about the structure of our club that I should have any confidence in that we'll keep moving forward?

One word batman ,transparency. That is what we was all told, the silence is deafening.I don't like liars hence I will no longer support this club while the muppets are in charge. I advise you all to do the same too,it's the on,y way we would force a sale.

Didn't Ralph say that a priority was to appoint a "sporting director"? I wondered at the time as I thought that was Les Reeds role and now it appears that Reed is in that role anyway. All a little confusing.

If the ownership and steering from the top is poor, no wonder Poch and players want to leave.

He probably doesn't even know what a sporting director does in football.

Bit OTT to say the least.

If I'm honest they can keep quiet for ever, if Ralphs rousing PR Guff speeches is the best they have to offer

I kind of respect the passion you're showing, whilst at the same time chuckling at a quite outstanding over-reaction

Weak and struggles to make decisions, from the inside.

Who? Reed

Could well be true but for me he just has an England fixation. As long as he has a myriad of players in the unders at the FA he is a made up man. Why if the prospective new manager is up to him I'd wager on either Southgate or McClaren or even (dare I float this?) Hodgson if or when he gets sacked by England after a poor WC.

Reed always seems to be the scapegoat for when things don't go well, but people seem to forget that he's been here through it all. A lot of you are desperate for NC back, you need to remember that Les was often NC's football advisor on every single matter - so it's safe to say that a lot of the tough, yet good decisions over the last few years have come from his contribution.

Let's see if he has another MP up his sleeve, as I think he's earnt our trust at least. As for the other rabble in the board room, the jury is well and truly out on that lot.

Indeed. I posted similar yesterday - Nobody else in that boardroom will have a clue who to get in - Les has to get this right.
