We had a good season but once we have a good season in the prem we always give up and don't want to go further the next season I do think poch is a good manager but not as good as he think he is it's not really a big move to spurs they are a crap football club just shows the board isn't going to back us this year which is a shame and I do think poch is a idiot for going there who won't last a year but I suppose he's going for the money shows he's full of rubbish saying he's got one year left carnt stand it

12 + years of school and you can't put a dot at the end of a ****ing sentence.

To be fair it is frustrating when you consider that we have a massive chance to push onto the next level after the season we've just had but it appears that as yet nothing positive has happened, despite the fact that nothing negative has happened either.

Corrected it for you, the world hasn't ended yet.

Bye then. I support Southampton FC not one man.

Cool. I recommend Chelsea, Man City, Real Madrid, Barca or Bayern. Enjoy.

This. We've had 129 years of ups and downs, I suggest the OP either get used to it or support a club where wins and positivity occur most weeks.

This is an ill-judged thread from a youngster, after all it's not like we've actually heard anything yet...

The problem with the last five years is it's left us with a whole load of fans with massively raised expectations.................

Bedwetters and Drama Queens are out in force.

If we stay in the Premier League that will be enough. It is always our first aim when we are in the top league and always will be. E very position above 17th is a bonus and the Cups are simply a 'sideshow'

Have I missed something, has MP gone, have we sold all our players and have the owners run off with the money and leaving us skint OR has nothing happened yet.

Posted

I actually agree with the original post. MP is a complete fool if he goes to Spurs and our board have shown nothing but a complete lack of ambition by not securing his services. Watch the floodgates open with regard to players leaving. We should be looking to build on last season, not sell off all our assets.

What next, Neil Lennon? Face facts, our board are both clueless and spineless.

I dont understand the "giving up" sentiment, but yes, the latest turn affairs will cement our place in the heirarchy of English football as a mickey-mouse, zero-ambition, mediocre-mid-table also-ran of a club.

Oh cool, you've got some facts for us - please, tell more, it'll be nice to have someone really ITK

Fact: if the man wants to go the board can't make him stay. They can offer him 6 million, but basically this is not bondage.

Fact: everyone buys and sells players. The thing is to do it to make the squad stronger. If you sell, sell high. When you buy, buy low.

FWIW I am quite ITK but I gave up sharing things on here because there's always somebody who thinks they know better.

This whole situation reminds me of when Strachan delivered our best Prem league finish and got us to the FA Cup final and then RL refused to spend to take us to the next level. Strachan got his coat and the rest is history. It's taken a decade to get back to that position so what do we do? Let the manager go to a direct competitor.

Very well put and I totally agree.

I wouldn't quite describe us as that. Our history, support and trophies won would put our natural position somewhere near the bottom of the Premiership/ top of the Championship. To have come from where we were to 8th in the Premier league is remarkable and teams can change their history but even if we could spend the massive amount needed to become a top 4 club on a regular basis would we want that?. I like us slaying the occasional giant not being the giant otherwise I would support Chelsea or Man U.

Yes they can, it's called contract law - a binding contract exists between MP and SFC - both parties must agree for it to be terminated and if SFC chose not to terminate it, then MP would not be able to join any other team until that contract was eventually terminated.

They can offer him 6 million, but basically this is not bondage.
legally speaking, a contract is.

...and we wouldn't do this? With all the paper talk of us pushing up the fees for LS and AL are we not doing that now? But we agree here.

You must have been in a bad way when we got relegated to L1

Glad it amused you. You're clearly one of those people who knows more than everybody else but refuses to accept that there may actually be others who use this forum who have contacts at the club.

Nope - I'm none of those I'm afraid. I just found it very funny.

I think I might just await some facts before going all kneejerk.

In the meantime, anyone who has run out of commas, here are a few for you to use so we can understand your posts.

Right that if the manager wants to go, go he will and he is replaceable. Once a manager wants to go, a club is better off without him. But not sure about the recipe for making the squad stronger. Selling high means selling your best players and buying low means replacing them with lower quality. Isn't the better way to have your players of long-term contracts and hold them to their contracts?

Mid table club ? I'd be ecstatic.

So like every other PL club outside the top 6 then? Mark me up for quite happily being a mid table PL club bringing through young English players, playing attractive football and well liked / respected by nearly every other club

I'll add my name to that list too Mr Shmoe!
