Saint86 Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 With all the negative press stories and hysteria...Are there people holding off renewing their season tickets in the hope of some good news? I can imagine that inaction from the club must be damaging sales? Or perhaps, inaction until after the renewals is in the clubs interest in light of what may come... Anyway, thought it might prove an interesting discussion. I currently hold one in Bristol for the record.
lifeintheslowlane Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 (edited) Nope...paid for mine 3 weeks ago. What are you going to do sit around the radio or try to follow it on a crap feed whilst biting your nails to the bone. I'll be at St. Mary's shouting myself hoarse like I have done for the last 55+ years, hoping for another cracking season like the last. For those who don't understand it's call being a supporter. The Cat Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 I'm hesitating purely to wait for my credit card to go on to the next month. Will be renewing next week. Currently debating whether to get an extra ST for my youngest who's been hassling me to take him with his brother.
Saint_clark Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 I'm paid weekly so waiting until the last minute so I can pay it all in one go.
Colinjb Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 No hesitation at all. I will want to be at the games regardless (If there is a Southampton FC I will support it) so why waste the early bird discount?
OVER THE HILL Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 I've renewed mine, I'm confident things will work out nowhere near as bad as many on here predict.
Toon Saint Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Ordered my first S/T for 10 years, and the first I am actually paying for! I'm a little anxious about what the summer will bring, though still very much looking forward to going to games a lot more regularly than I have been doing while living up North. I've missed it!
Ashley Grute Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 support saints regardless- always have, always will so renewed straight away
doddisalegend Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 If I could afford it I would get a ST regardless of what is or isn't happening off the pitch nothing better than being at SMS at 3.00 on a Saturday afternoon..................sadly I can't afford it:(
View From The Top Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 If I lived in Soton, or South of the M4, I'd have a ST regardless of who pulls the shirt on, who's in the boardroom or who's in the dug out. We are the club.
Ohio Saint Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Obviously I don't go to matches, but this thread is a no brainer for any footy fan of any club if they have the cash. However, I can see how it might be a brain teaser for a plastic.

saintstriumph Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 I have had my season ticket in block 24 for 6 seasons, this season the club will not allow me to renew it, so I won't be
Georgie Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 As long as I can afford it each year I will renew, no matter what is going on off the pitch. But I am waiting until I get paid next week to renew.
TwoPints Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Haven't renewed yet but that's only because I haven't been able to renew my daughters online (for some reason) so I'll have to go down to SMS when I have time (which is running out fast!). No hesitation in getting a ST though.
davefoggy Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Re-newed. Getting harder and harder to justify to the missus but the thought of not being a season ticket holder is just not an option. Anyway, been a ST holder longer than i have known her so no brainer really
Born In The 80s Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 First year in 25 that i won't be renewing. Unfortunately it's just got too expensive now. Just can't justify paying that much when i'm saving for a house and I can watch every game live down the pub.
70's Mike Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 http://southamptonfc.pvxgateway.com/ KEEP getting told not available so unable to renew at present
spyinthesky Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Four of us have renewed and I will probably continue to do so through hell and high water. Too many years a fan/customer (whatever you like to call it) to give up now However that doesn't stop me occasionally wondering why I put so much time, effort and money going to watch over paid, and often over hyped, prima donnas running round kicking a bit of leather. Admission prices are too high and it would be good if the League or FA Cup games could be really cheap to attract the floating fan I find myself really enjoying the summer break but will be back in August hoping for the best but fearing the worst!!
miserableoldgit Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 http://southamptonfc.pvxgateway.com/ KEEP getting told not available so unable to renew at present Yes, me too..
Ken Tone Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Renewed on the second day we could, but it is getting so bloody expensive that we did hesitate. I have to say that if AL goes, we will at first regret renewing, but I suspect that after c40years of regular football watching, we will soon get hooked again. Hope we don't sign too many jobbing mercenaries though if we have to replace several players. It's easier to really support players you've seen develop from youngsters.
Ziggy Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Renewed again without hesitation. It's a way of life for me and my boy. He is now at university in Sheffield but gets the train down to Solihull and we drive down to the game together. Priceless moments together.
angelman Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Renewed again without hesitation. It's a way of life for me and my boy. He is now at university in Sheffield but gets the train down to Solihull and we drive down to the game together. Priceless moments together. Aye. My old man is getting dementia and this is one of the things he loves, as does my nipper when my old man can't make it (but **** me, he's 8 and talks about nothing else other than Saints!!! All day, every day) . Was confusing for my old man when we ran out vs Newcastle as he couldn't quite get it that we weren't wearing stripes.
eurosaint Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Renewed today (never got around to it until now!) and found it to be a very smooth online transaction, pity that they charge a quid for the credit card transaction, it just seems unnecessary as it is such a tiny percentage of the total, just an irritant really !! COYS:)
BlakeySFC Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 No hesitation for me, I support the team not a couple of footballers.

COYS:) I got charged 2x £2.50 for my 2 tickets!
Heisenberg Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 support saints regardless- always have, always will so renewed straight away Same. Wife and I renewed straight away
ThorpG Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 No hesitation - had a season ticket during the Dutch Duo era and when we were bottom of League One. Easy decision now compared to back then when you knew were going to be watching a lot of dross. Now - talented squad, good to watch, full stadium. Easy decision...
RobM Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Renewed also with no hesitation at all. Club legends come and go, replaced by future legends, who will also leave one day. That's football, that's life. I'm a Southampton fan first and foremost and I want to watch them as much as I can. I am very fortunate that I can afford and justify the season ticket and I am able to attend every home game. These were my only considerations.

eelpie Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 I'd have a ST regardless of who pulls the shirt on, who's in the boardroom or who's in the dug out. We are the club. True, and as we all are. If only the club realised that.
doddisalegend Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 True, and as we all are. If only the club realised that. Go on I'll bite.....how have the club not realised that?
BlakeySFC Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Still hesitating because of the increased expense. What, £30?
ringwood Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Renewed all 3, had to wait on new credit card 0% for 12months, once again the online system would not bring them all together so just rang up, easy peasy. Just hope we dont get to many games moved about.
saint_jas Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 I would love to get a season ticket, but due to travel cost it isn't possible. Instead will still going to as many games as I can.
Delboy Dave Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Makes me a bit sad reading some posts on here that people are waiting for pay day, new credit cards, old credit cards to clear etc, basically busting a gut to find a way of paying for a season ticket when the people they're paying to watch couldn't give a flying **** about the fans, and earn the same in a week as what fans do in a year
Ampersound Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 Want to renewal but we have decided to move back to the Southampton area after 9 years away and I just can't afford it right now. My son is gutted and that also has an affect on my nephew who I've taken for the last two years also. Gutted but at least I will pick and choose my matches I can watch and will take the hit next season at full price! Might go along and watch Eastleigh in the Conf too.
sammysaint Posted 22 May, 2014 Posted 22 May, 2014 I would love to have the option to wait before i renew, however im not renweing due to monies and 2nd child on the way however should one of my 45 or 50-1 bets come in on sat of which has a 2 pound stake i will renew as that plus my savings takes me to the 300 mark and il pay the extra on my credit card, no matter whos in charge or whos wearing our strip.
mancsaint Posted 23 May, 2014 Posted 23 May, 2014 support saints regardless- always have, always will so renewed straight away +1 Mancsaint
Lord Duckhunter Posted 23 May, 2014 Posted 23 May, 2014 Renewed also with no hesitation at all. Spot on
eurosaint Posted 23 May, 2014 Posted 23 May, 2014 I got charged 2x £2.50 for my 2 tickets! That's really strange, I bought 1 ticket, paid by MasterCard and was charged one pound only ! (I double checked just to be sure!)
ant Posted 23 May, 2014 Posted 23 May, 2014 As above - it's only a matter of whether I can afford it. Fortunately I still can. Ideally we'll keep our best squad but damn, we've had to watch some crap over the years. If that didn't dull my love of watching Saints play I doubt anything would.
pap Posted 23 May, 2014 Posted 23 May, 2014 Getting my first ever ST. Always fancied it, but I think this is the first year I can really justify it.
suewhistle Posted 23 May, 2014 Posted 23 May, 2014 I'm hesitating purely to wait for my credit card to go on to the next month. Will be renewing next week. Thanks for reminding me, just had my statement so now safe. It is a very big line on my budget though, and I'm on a limited income although hope to hear good news next week about some temporary work. I also get annoyed when they change to Sundays at short notice: plenty of us here also involved with amateur football. So yes, renewal not dependent on the stars playing for us: I remember Speedie, Dixon, Perry Groves, Paul Moody - need I go on?! PS: I forgive Paul Moody for at least being a trier...
