Saints v Forest - Post match reaction

How come I have never hear regular away fans ever going on about the part-timers who only turn up for a bus ride trip to SMS but can't be arsed to travel away every fortnight?

Maybe some of those who think they are the only 15,000 "special" "real" supporters could explain what it is that makes them not go to away games too? Because it's only about 2% to 5% who do regularly?

Are you saying that you have other commitments or that it is too expensive or that you can't be bothered with the journey or that you've other ways to spend your time or better things to do or what?

Interested to see how we narrow down those "real" fans now. Perhaps we only have 500 then? Perhaps they should take the **** when you home game only fans turn up for a big important away game?

If there could be anything more depressing (football wise) than today's game it is those who don't even want other Saints' fans to be there so you can rave on about how you are the only proper fans and slag them.

You must be dying for the time when this club goes into obscurity and there's 50 of you watching. Big big pat on the back for you - you're the ********.

Genuine respect to those who do go regulalry and would prefer to see as many Saints fans there as possible.

Great post. We need a new Chairman ASAP who can bring the supporters together and stop the crystallisation. At present, I feel in a silent majority (to steal Richard Nixon's phrase) that go to SMS but don't support the board in any way other than financially and don't blame people for not wanting to fork out good money for bad rubbish, which we have been in most of the home games this season, let's be honest. Some of the people at SMS almost seem to have been brainwashed by the OS spin and zealots is probably the best word. I just sit in silence at home games now watching slow, one-dimensional football.

I thought James was one of our better players, mainly he got a 6 because of all the running he done and the effort he put in.

Lallana and McGoldrick where both very poor. They are two of our main attacking outlets and neither of them made decent runs or could strike the ball properly. Very poor yesterday and they have been for a while tbh.

I completely disagree about Lloyd James. The fans have been getting on his back for a while but over the last few games he has been really good. Did you not see his brilliant tackle yesterday after Perry and Pearce allowed one of their players to stroll past them? Our right side is a complete joke because of McGoldrick and Lallana's crap positional sense, whichever is supposed to be playing there. Poor old Lloyd James is having to play right-midfield and right-back, despite being the least experienced player in the team. What do you expect from him, he always gives his best but is being told to do something impossible.

His comments yesterday were wrong, but it's what's done on the pitch that matters and James is one of the few who has done okay in the last few games.

More people are seeing where our fundamental fatal flaw is. A right back having to play his own game and cover for the missing right midfielder, who sees his own self indulgence as more important than playing for the team. A striker who can't strike and can't be arsed to do much else.

Both of them are lightweight showboaters and need dropping. The manager is either not allowed to do this or has been instructed to let them do their own thing. I just cannot believe the prat can't see what is destroying our defence and making us impotent in attack

Most fans, yourself included Derry, could see that by September. James would do far better at RM, what we should be doing is getting a specialist RB as one of the loans rather than a hareem of loan strikers that aren't getting a game and wasting money. Didn't Lowe learn anything about stockpiling poor players from first time around? Even if they improve, we don't get the benefits anyway and he can only justify it if they were having the impact DeSkate had at Bournemouth or Kenwyne at Sheff Wed.

To solve the problem in the meantime for the next two games because it is really fundamentally hurting us.

I would play Cork at right back with James at right midfield. Holmes and Skacel on the left, Pearce and Perry central defence. Euell and Surman if Schneiderlin not fit centre midfield. BWP up front paired with Paterson. The only other alternative I might consider is play Mills at left back and Skacel with BWP.

OK so it was my first game of the season. Went with my son and mate.

It was awful. Heartbreaking and just poor. There is no light, no spark, and I cannot see us scoring another goal from open play this season.

My son's comment was pretty much how we felt. We looked damned good attacking backwards.

In the words of many. This ain't going to work, and somehow something must be done.

Pretty gladd I couldn't get onto the internet all weekend as at least I could calm down enough and post something without a lot of *****'s in it.

Bitterly disappointed in what I saw

And despite what some of the blind optimists have been trying to tell you (including Chris Iwelumo FFS), that was what it has been like for most of the season.

There has been the odd moment of inspiration and the odd glimpse of talent, skill and effort, but on the whole the table is a true reflection of how we have been this season, because we have been very, very poor.

I'd go with that, specialists in their proper positions instead of round pegs in square holes trying to fit a system that is clearly failing. Redknob is no genius but has got the best out of his players at Spurs by playing them where they feel comfortable whereas Ramos was a bit of expensive JP.

I can't believe Um that until recently, people that claim to be going regularly have been telling us about the "great football" we've been playing. I like the idea but not the reality on no proper first team players. My summary would be:

Genuine excellent home games: Brum Carling Cup, Norwich after Robertson scored although they pummelled us before that and Sibierski should have scored twice

Good in patches, poor in places but lacking a bit of experience to close the game out or to make that extra stride: Cov 1st half & Sheff Wed, Brum 1st half, Ipswich, Wolves 2nd half

Solid but no creativity: Plymouth

Dreadful and deserved a hammering: Bristol City, Blackpool, Notts Forest (the first two games would have been 5 or 6-0 but for Kelvin's heroics).

Saturday was the worst day of my life. When my first wife died in87 I was a wreck. When mum died two years ago I was really down.

Saturday surpassed those feelings with frightening ease. I am 62 and on a pension.Riddled with arthritis and have a young family yet again. To go to see the Saints I forgo the payment of my rent. I take my so (5yo) and daughter (17) and it costs a hell of a lot more than I can afford.

I'm not looking for a sympathy vote. Saturday I was prepared to walk away from the club and never return. After yet again watching the abysmal showing of our team I was down. The total morons who kept their obscene chanting going when the team needed their support was revolting. The behaviour of one of the syewards unacceptable.

After Forest scored their second I could take no more and took my kids away from the ground and the abuse. My son with tears in his eyes asked me why we never scored a goal. The atmosphere at the ground was so bad that the team must surely have felt it.

Instead of welcoming the missing and cheering the team on these mindless idiots simply destroyed what could have been and should have been a good vocal support driving them forward.

As we left both my kids were happy to be away from the game. These the very people that will make the crowd in the future. I was extremely despondant and swore that that was it. Never again would I put myself through the mill like that again. As I reached the footbridge I turned to look for the last time at the new ground. Looking at it I knew that I couldn't do it. Saints course through my blood.

Sunday is normally a day for regaining the feel good factor but it didn't happen. Today my son came up to me and asked me" Daddy when we go to Southampton next time can you get me a pack of playing cards?" My 5yo boy had in a matter of seconds eroded all the bad feeling built up inside of me.

Today I even heard about the fighting in the Mck Channon suite between our supporters.

When will these idiots ever learn. The Board are to blame for most of our problems, agreed. The supporters acting like brainless thugs will not bring back the missing thousands. Instead, it will not only keep them away but drive even more away. We are in a recession and that is fact. Lots can't afford to go and some stay away because of Lowe and his cohorts. Their choice.

I admire the fans who go week after week to the awy games and listen to them on the radio when doing the commentary for SaintMike's site. They are amazing. Even on some of the worst days, they have been heard and believe me they are appreciated by a lot of people who, like me can't make it.

It makes me sick to the stomach the way certain people have elected themselves as the chosen ones. What the hell has my 5yo done to deserve the s**t thrown at him.Or the even younger girl just a few places from us on her first ever visit to the club and a match. You simpletons are going to help Lowe kill us off even quicker.

Wow, that some post! I'm the same age as you and many times over the past few years I have felt like 'throwing the towel in'. But we just rebound off the ropes and come back in again. You will do the same and come to think as I do, it's a game of football and there are more important things in life, ie, your young son and daughter.

As for the foul mouths and infighting, it is part of our sick society. Not confined to football but a large part of todays society, sadly.

Please keep your faith and keep going to SMS, don't forget, it's your team. The club needs our support. I know many on here will argue that they will not go because .... is at the helm, well, we are the club. Whilst I understand the stance they make, it will not help us in our hour of need (imho).

Best wishes:)

Nobody ever said a truer word.

"WE ARE THE CLUB"

Maybe someone should tell Lowe. Come to think of it, maybe the time has come for us all to tell Lowe.

Norm and Derry I fully believe that something is about to happen. Apparently the AGM did not go down to well and there was a fracas. I agree that we should stick together and stop the infighting. I have said before that without us the club can not survive . I now feel that the time is ripe for a mass stand to be taken against the Board. Before to long someone could get hurt and all because some prize **** thinks he is above it all. An ego can be a good thing at times but not when someone foolishly allows it to ruin something held by so many as their special possession. THE CLUB IS OURS AND IT IS ABOUT TIME THE CLUB REALIZED HOW MUCH IT NEEDS US. NOT TREAT US AS SECOND CLASS CITIZENS.

How we make a stand that shows our true feelings without disturbing the players is my main concern. Perhaps someone better qualified could make a suitable suggestion.

If I could say one thing I was impressed with was that we seemed to have pace throughout the team. the whole game was played at a much faster pace than the games I saw last season.

But of course the down side is that a headless chicken has a lot of pace....

At the end of the day, Euell was the only one who even came close to giving their CB's any sort of trouble, and that was mainly because he arrived late, was falling over or was trying to get back into whatever non useful position he was supposed to be in, and DMG just seemed to have spent all week reading the criticism on here of him and then decided to put on a performance that showed me what I had been missing by doing everything you all moan at him about.

In the first half with Holmes we had some shape down that side, but again over on the right there was nobody in red between Lloyd James and their corner flag.

Very worried now.

Now you can see what I have been banging on about, especially the right side which is our real achilles heel.
