Would you want Cortese back?

Yes, IMO. Ran the club with an iron fist, but had the right ambitions and made the players and manager beleive in him. I think with him we could have reached CL within a couple of seasons. Who knows where we're going with the new regime.

Yes, 100%.

Although, to keep the mongboard happy, we should have Ralf during the football season to provide certain posters with happy sound bites that everyone is getting along nicely, and that ex players are all welcomed at the club.

Then have NC during the closed season, to do all the important stuff. Once all the I's are dotted and T's are crossed, hand it back over to Ralf to start the "family club" PR campaign.

Reluctantly, I'd have to say yes. NC's commercial performance was a worry but on the pitch results were tremendous. RK will improve the commercial side I feel but is getting eaten alive on the football side and Reed doesn't have the charisma to head off the media snowball. What has to be put in place is a fresh communication framework between the players and board, which is very necessary whilst MP plays the club around. I agree with OB's thread, John Williams is the ideal man to do that and has the media clout to turn around these headlines. He also enjoys a reputation for keeping elite players content, particularly at Blackburn as another provincial club.

Without a shadow of a doubt. In a heartbeat. Really enjoyed first week or so under new board, statements, transparency but it, IMO, has gone downhill big time since. At least under NC, you knew if no statement, there was categorically nothing to report. These days, you know talks etc are going on but they're doing nothing to dispel the rumours. Poor PR management, especially at such a crucial time with ST sales etc.

I'm not bothered eitherway as the CEO role is over exaggerated on here. It is truley deluded to think the we are his appointment away from a CL spot.

In his last interview the thing that made me smile was where ne said no one left under his tenure and then he admits that he didn't recieve any offers from anyone.

Only if he is answerable to others (KL), it is foolhardy to allow one person/ego to have absolute control without some accountability.

Spend, spend in pursuit of personal glory is reminiscent of Leeds and another club a bit closer to home.

What makes you so sure?

He's working very hard to make the new board look bad, and says he will be back at football.

Imagine if he got some of his wealthy contacts to buy the Skates, and took them from L2 to the Prem in a new 5 year plan.....just to prove a point. :scared:

Cortese was selling Lambert, and he was reluctantly going to Wham. Which was a factor in him being removed from office. He was also too good at spending KL 's money, without her having much of a say.

Perhaps KL wanting more of a say in how her money was spent and her financial constraints on him, encouraged him to try and cash in on Lambert.

What it does show is Cortese was full of bull****e, and he would sell players if he felt like it.

He was also not very financially prudent.

I was was a supporter of NC for some time, but his Napoleon attitude, and the way he ignored his own statements on player sales etc. his destroying morale amongst the workers at St Mary's etc have convinced me.

Definitely NO!

If someone with much, much better contacts than me is to be believed, and I've no reason to doubt him, then KL has made it clear that she would never sell the club to him.

Personally I believe he really, really wants the club. If he gets it though is a different thing altogether.

Cortese was never spending KL´s money, can we get that out of the way please?

He might have spent Southampton FC´s (or whatever the name is of the company) money but KL has always had the option of not transfer more money to the club or turning loans into equity (spelling?) if she didn´t want to herself.....(that might have put us in the sh*t if she would´ve blocked those things but I´m fairly sure this is all back to what Markus wanted rather than anything else)

And people go on about the commercial side....yes that wasn´t very strong but in what position do you think you can increase that side the most, when you´re trying to get up the leagues to PL or when you have shown you´re a top 10 PL team?

He probably recognised that, and correctly so, the Sky Money is so much more money than the commercial side will ever bring in so he focused on building the best team possible and I would believe that once we were in the position we are in today with a top 8 finish, then you can focus more on the commercial side.

Blimey, we haven't sold anyone yet, nothing has gone wrong apart from the kit (which was Cortese's fault) and yet everyone wants them out.

Pathetic guys, pathetic.

In addition to this, the correct question should be:

"Would you have Cortese back, without the money", because that's what it would be.

Exactly this.

For those wishing for his return, under what circumstances and with what backing would you be happy with?

Again with this money thing...If you say it enough times it might be true right?

So on record Sour are you saying the club is in financial trouble?

The way I see it we just got £70m. Minus the debts of £30m = profit right? Plus it isn't real debt if you buy assets with it which he did. Assets which can be sold to recoup money or even make a profit from. That's called business. You like to portray that he spent money that was just ****ed down a drain....

This. I feel very certain Cortese knew what he was doing.

What "money thing"? I've simply asked under what circumstances posters would welcome NC back, the context is obvious and important or makes the discussion fairly pointless.

No, I don't think we're in financial trouble, weird thing to ask.

Do you still think KL is going to be milking the club for its money?

Without a doubt.

Like Marco say's to think we are in some financial trouble of sorts is just laughable. However to correct him it was £76m we received this season just for TV http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27411682 an increase of £33m on the season before.

That table shows the more successful you are the more people will want to watch you on tv. It is no coincidence the bottom three on the list all got relegated. As other's have said on different threads if you stand still you will go backwards and if KL is only in it now for money then it is time to sell while the club is worth a lot more then it will be in 12 months time if we get relegated/do badly.

On face value without a shadow of a doubt. It is impossible to argue with his track record.

To some on here they seem to prioritise kit design and being friendly over a successful organisation/club. The team could play in toy story outfits for all I care, I want my team to be successful and not be plundered by the big clubs at every opportunity.

Of course the real time to answer this question though should be at the end of the summer, but I must say I am unimpressed with the new board so far (to be honest ever since I first heard Ralph speak publicly).

The biggest frustration I have is wanting to know Cortese's motive, clearly he is about to make a comeback somewhere as his PR machine seems to be going into overdrive. Also interesting to note his answer of 'never' to the question of whether he would return to the club.

No chance.

amazes me how clueless some people are, he has never put a penny of his own money into the club, he drew a salary dwarfing that of many of the premier league chairman, and he lived a lavish lifestyle off the expenses bill of the club.

i'd rather have Kat in charge who has actually invested a considerable sum of her money , and for that we should show her some respect rather than lapping up Nik Naks propaganda.

Would have him back if the alternative is Gareth and Wreck It Ralph.

I know we have no idea if he is indeed a wreck it ralph but we definitely have to use that nickname if he turns out to be so
