alpine_saint Posted 20 May, 2014 Share Posted 20 May, 2014 I am happy for this to be merged with another thread; I just didnt know where it belonged. We are CRYING OUT for a statement of intent from the new board; a deed that gives us an impression of which direction we are going in. After all, they have been in-place for a few months now and should know what they want to do. So have we got it ? No. In fact, we have worse - respected ex-Saints players being fired. We have no kit supplier this season, we are not sure we have a manager, and the vultures are circling our best players like they are rotting carcases out in a Western desert. FFS, board, get a f**king grip before this club plummets into a new rut.

Under the Liebherrs, we have had consistent progress and the club is in a position most of us have rarely known in our Saints supporting career. Every summer people throw the toys out of the cot and proclaim imminent disaster. The noise and the club's achievement rarely seem to match. We could go into cataclysm this summer. We could sell all of our players. We could lose our manager. We could be sold. We could be financially unstable. Who knows. But none of it has happened yet and recent experience shows that it rarely does. At least wait for the disasters before losing it... kpturner Posted 20 May, 2014 Share Posted 20 May, 2014 A tad OTT. Do you really expect a blow by blow account of all the activities at the club and, if so, how frequently would be acceptable? I expect the leaked news about Dodd and Williams will be dealt with in a statement very soon - if not then that is the time to whine.

Saint_Tony Posted 20 May, 2014 Share Posted 20 May, 2014 Have to agree, we are very much in the dark as to what is happening. Admittedly, the conflicting newspaper reports and never ending amount of posters who are supposedly ITK doesn't help, but I get the feeling that everything is about to fall to pieces in the next few days. We had Reeds's statement, but that was a few weeks ago. Right now I fear for the worst, can't help but thinking Kruger has no real ambitions to drive the club forward and is content to sit in 8th. As a fan of the club, I am not.

I expect the leaked news about Dodd and Williams will be dealt with in a statement very soon - if not then that is the time to whine. The club isn't coming off very well in all this thus far. Press are like a pig in **** linking our players everywhere and our Manager to Spurs, meanwhile our public declaration of sorting out things at the end of the season set some expectations yet there is no news and all we have to put up with as fans are the prospect of being a much worse team next season. I would have suggested that it may have been more prudent for the club to say things will be looked at in the summer rather than at the end of the season, which sets the expectation that if there was a desire from the Manager to stay at the club that it may have been something that was sorted by now. As it goes our Manager is clearly non-committal right now (which in itself is a bad feeling) and further to that it appears the future of key players are more linked to our Manager than our Club, which is also a horrible feeling. So now I have to put some faith in a Board with no footballing experience (aside from Les Reed) to get a deal sorted for our Manager just several weeks after they claimed to have inherited a 'difficult' financial position. So you'll have to excuse me right now if I think they have something to prove rather than me thinking they have my trust and all be will be ok. Weston Saint Posted 20 May, 2014 Share Posted 20 May, 2014 In my opinion the OP is a complete over reaction. The season was only completed a week ago and the Chairman has already said planning is under way. You do not release ongoing discussions. You complete the business plan and then say what you are going to do. At present we have a First Team Coach, Team Captain and one of our brightest prospects splashed all over the media. What does the club do? Tell us they are staying no matter what and kill off their ambition to better themselves. We all know contracts are worthless in football. It appears the Under 18 coaches are being released from their contracts. Is that not the start of the planning? Is it compensation negotiations are underway delaying the release. Are we going to alert every club as to our targets for strengthening the team? I seem to recall some on here complaining that Norwich last season did their business early and snapped up some good players! Need I say more. Sit back, relax and see what unfolds over the next two months. We cannot influence what, where or when during that time.

Professor Posted 20 May, 2014 Share Posted 20 May, 2014 Why is everything about to fall to pieces? A little hysterical don't you think? Its not hysterical to point out the possibilities. If there is nothing that should concern the fans, given that lots of worrying reports are in the press, it would be so easy for the club to say so. Not saying so, is bound to give the impression that there are things that would concern the fans if they know about them. Allowing the media reports to go unchallenged has fuelled the fire. Maybe the club are resisting the bids but if so, why not say so? To the Heads in the Sand Crew - that's not asking for a running commentary. It's merely pointing out what the media is saying is indicated by the lack of any statement whatsoever in the 9 days since the bids were reported, during which time there has been at least one Board meeting. But, Hey! Maybe they were just planning the holiday rota....

The problem I think Weston is that every little bit of 'news' (whether that is fact or rumour) so far appears to be somewhat negative. We've just finished a fantastic campaign and yet there's a significant 'feel bad' opinion swelling among the fanbase. Sure there will be some who say "lets wait and see", but its disappointing that ANY bad and unsettling news is surfacing when we were expecting the club to 'push-on'. Perhaps its a case of one step back two forward?

I am by no means a bed wetter at all and very rarely have any negative thoughts about the club but right now I am quite concerned that we have a Manager who doesn't appear committed and players futures who are linked to a Manager more than the Club itself. It all has the potential to go very very wrong. And should it do so, by the time it is sorted we may need to replace some important players (50/50 record in the transfer market at best) and of course a Manager. Not an exciting prospect, is it? What's the rush, the season has been over for a week and Pochetinno has got a year left to run on his current deal. Signing a new contract is a big commitment, how much time would you give to a new proposition at work, or a new job...or would you just sign it off ASAP to please everyone?
