Nixon - Surprise departures tweet

Would Les Reed be considered a first-team departure?

I imagine we can do better than Paul Williams and Jason Dodd if it is infact them?

What do better than Jason Dodd who lives and breathes Saints, played loyally for us for over a decade and might just might instil some form of loyalty into the youth players.

The U18s have had quite a decent campaign I think apart from getting turned over by Charlton in the FA Youth Cup. The U21s,well there I'm not so sure, seem to remember they've been a bit erratic.

Two midlevel sackings wouldn't be enough to give the mongboard an ITK hard on, forget the general public.

That Nixon is playing hush hush suggests that they have to be fairly significant.

Not really. Nixon said "shocked". Now, you could of course think "ohh, high profile" or maybe its not the person, it's what they have done.

For example, if 3 YTS IT kids in the back room had been running a porn server. Or the mailroom guy had been opening all the confidential letters. Or the tea lady had set up a Veho action camera in the changing rooms top capture some action.

Adam Lallana - Rob Stark (a Red wedding that could have similar results)

Les reed - Varys (The big fish, eat the little fish but he somehow keeps swimming)

Mopo - Baelish (Chaos is a ladder)

Daniel Levy - Tywin Lannister (Tyrant with too much money, cares more about his name than the people he represents, merciless git)

If it is Doddsy and Hunter, Harsh though it sounds, them going makes Pochettino staying more likely imo. I doubt its a decision you would take in the absence of your current and future managers input.

Real shame for them though.

When you actually look at the amount of ex-players that joined the staff under Cortese it kind of sh*ts on the theory that he wanted to erase our history. And yet here we are without Cortese and potentially one or two ex-players being sacked from their coaching roles.

Oi.... Stop pinching my conspiracy theories.... :)

Sorry Trousers. I got into the habit of not reading whole threads when Glasgow and Bazza were around - it just seemed like an exercise in self flagellation. Must remember to check to see if Im the first to make the point now :).

I would still think it's someone "more high profile" than them, given the tone of the tweets from Nixon. However he could just be a real drama queen and it could be 2 stewards! :)

Why on earth would we sack Dodd / Williams and Hunter? Both manage the youngest teams in their league and have been responsible for honing young talent so it is deemed good enough to make the step up to a team that is 8th in the Premier League.

Can't answer for Dodd don't know anything about the U18s but it's fairly noticeable that our young stars tend to bypass the U21s a bit. For me there is much too much wastage in that category.

I disagree - players progress at different rates. Here are some examples:

Shaw - was with the U21's last season until November

Chambers - with the U21's all of last season

JWP - dipped into the U21's in the second half of last season

Reed - made the step up to the U21's late last season and spent most of this season with them

The U21's this season also contained a lot of players making the step up from the U18's full time. Our U21 team is regularly one of the youngest put out (I would suggest an average age of 19) whilst our U18 team mainly consisted of first year scholars this season.

Dodd and Williams do a good job bringing the players on and teaching them about standards and Hunter is very good at instilling an element of professionalism in the way they manage the game and gets them doing the things that Pochettino likes ahead of training in the first team.

If there is a reason any of them are leaving I would be fairly confident in saying it has nothing to do with performance.

hearing strong rumour that we're looking to re-poach huge ennings + something elias back from fulham now they is relegate. Maybe clearing house to make this happen? I think there is lot of credence to this cos i invented it myself. I read an article the other day bout Fulham academy is #1 since they poached all our top bros.

Probably because most of the Players from that age group are playing in The Premier League week in week out!!

Also as pointed out earlier, they often have probably one of the youngest squads.

That would be good. Hugh jennings and malcolm elias was when our academy was even better imo. Bale, theo, lallana etc etc

Les Reed did say they would be discussing planning for the long term at the end of the season...

Yeah, get rid of those incompetent buffoons who signed the players that took us from the foot of L1 to 8th in the PL.

Don't let the door hit you on the a rse on the way out boys!

If Les Reed has gone, I'd be worried... potential disagreements with the board over selling of players?

I'd be quite pleased actually, but it won't be that so I won't be if you get my drift. There was talk of a Sporting Director at one time, petered out and then Reed came out in the pre-Everton PC and said he was director in charge of football, that wasn't exactly his brief before I don't think. He was more axed on Sports Science and Youth Development. .
