Released and retained list

The released and retained list is due around now. I see from his Twitter account that Jamal Branker from the Under 21s is being released and we know that Lee Barnard, Jonathan Forte and Guly are all out of contract and almost certain to leave. Lloyd Isgrove may be out contract and I'm fairly sure that Andy Robinson, Cody Cropper and Fraser Colmer are. I suspect there are decisions to be made about them and possibly others in the development squad, including Matt Young, Joe Curtis, Charlie Higgins and goalkeeper James White. Presumably some new contracts as well. I think the deadline for submitting the list is around the end of May so there may be time to sort out the manager's position before doing so.

Good luck to Jamal Branker and anyone else being released.

I thought it was him that was being retained, and everyone else was being sold ???

Must've misread it

Isgrove lucky to get another one IMO. Must be 20-21 now and even with our lack of attacking options hasnt managed to make the bench much and didnt start often for Peterborough too.

by the looks of things Peterborough fans loved him and thought he deserved a lot more game time than he actually got

Agree - I've always thought he's looked quite decent. A clever player who fits well into our style.

I would suggest that the released / retained list is a hint the MP is staying

If he wasn't then surely the likes of guly would be seen as an asset to any new manager given the stuff on many posts on this forum

Also with every one leaving then we need to keep experienced players like guly

Hence the reason my view is MP is staying

I don't think it does that at all, Guly was out of his depth in the Premier League and would leave regardless of who the manager was next season if the club wants to progress. Guly was an important part of the League One and Championship promotions and if he wants to stay in England he'd be a good signing for quite a few Championship sides. If Saints gave him a new deal he'd be taking up an over 21 spot in our 25 man squad that could be better filled with someone else.

Not at all batman just being objective and considering the clubs operational requirements .

It's not rocket science .

You don't release your social workers because your director of social care leaves do you ?

I doubt players leaving who at best, hardly feature is a sign of anything

Batman I agree re fonte and Barnard but I would have held fire on guly perhaps giving him a temporary contract till such time every thing is sorted out even though there is nothing to sort out

What club offers temporary contracts, though

He is a bit part player and maybe he actually wants to go

That's interesting. Two names to try and remember in the coming years. Been a while since we allowed the likes of Phillips, Cureton and Eadie to slip through our fingers.

Do we normally release this many of the youngsters?

I would assume so otherwise our first team squad would be swarming with them. Don't forget we must have at least 20 players in each youth category (at a guess) and we definitely cant keep them all.

I for one wish Guly all the best. Will easily find another English club especially in the Championship. He played a massive part in getting us back to where we belong and will always be grateful. The video is quite emotional but a joy to watch. Ole ole ole ole ole Guly, Guly!!! :)

Good luck to all those released it wouldn't be the first time if one if the academy lads came back to bite us but you can't keep them all for ever! Special mention for Guly always gave his best and was a key player in our meteoric rise hope he gets to finish off his career at a good club back home.

Mark Schwarzer as back up to boruc? he looked reliable stepping in for Cech

also, anyone knows what the deal is with Diego Lugano? Uruguay's captain but released by west brom? haven't seen much of him play this season

He barely played as is oldish and slow as .... . No where near good enough for us.
